Syrup Village part 1
*After Luffy and his crew met the mighty Thor, they sail on their boats to continue their adventures.*
Luffy: I’m hungry!
Morbius: Me too!
Zoro: Will you guys keep it down? I’m trying to sleep.
Nami: I’m surprised we’ve been able to make it this far. We need to be prepared. We barely have any food and water on board.
Morbius: yeah. We’re not gonna last long at sea if we continue to travel like this. The ocean is vast and takes up most of the planet.
Luffy: I see something.
Nami: It's a miracle you guys survived till you met me.
Zoro: There's always a way.
Luffy: It's an island!
Morbius: Ah island?
*Nami looks through some binoculars.*
Nami: That island is no good. It looks unpopulated. Let’s just keep going.
*But Luffy, Zoro and Morbius row towards it.*
Nami: Wait a second!
Luffy: Let's just go see if there’s anyone who would join us. And let’s look for food!
*They reach the island.*
Luffy: We’ve reached the isolated island!
Nami: There's nothing but forest!
Morbius: Guess this place is uninhabited.
Nami: There's no way someone could be here to join your crew, Luffy.
Luffy: Hey Zoro, come on!
Zoro: zzzzzzzz
Morbius: Is he sleeping?
Nami: Just let him. He still is a bit injured from his fight from the Buggy pirates.
Luffy: Yeah, you’re right. Let’s go!
Nami: Go where?
Luffy: Into the forest. You never know who could be in there.
Nami: Are you kidding me? There’s no people here. Only poisonous snakes and other dangerous animals.
Morbius: I think I’m gonna have to agree with Nami.
*A weird fox-rooster hybrid walks past them.*
Nami: What is that?
Morbius: Something from Ultra man?
*Luffy picks up a snake with strange ears.*
Luffy: Look at this weird rabbit.
Nami: That's a snake you idiot!
Morbius: Why does it have ears?
Luffy: Hey look at that lion.
*Points to a pig with a lion’s mane.*
Nami: That's a pig!
Morbius: A fucking weird one.
Luffy: This island is weird.
???: Don’t come any closer!
Luffy: Huh?
Nami: Who was that?
???: I am the forest guardian!
Luffy: The forest guardian?
???: That's right! If you wish to live, then you will leave this island at once! You are pirates, right?
Luffy: yeah.
Nami: Why would a forest guardian ask that?
Morbius: You don’t scare me.
???: So you are pirates! Listen well, do not take another step into this forest! Or you will face the forest’s judgment!
Luffy: Who cares?
Nami: And what is that exactly?
Morbius: Is this the forest from fern gully?
Luffy: What a weird guy.
???: Hey straw hat, what did you just say?!
Nami: wherever you are, come on out!
Luffy: Hey, I think that voice is coming over there!
???: I told you not to come closer! Now recurve the forest judgment!
*Suddenly, Luffy gets shot in the back.*
Morbius: Luffy!
*But Luffy bounces the bullet back.*
???: Huh?
Morbius: Oh yeah, I forgot.
Nami: Good thing bullets don’t work on you.
Luffy: Yeah, but that still surprised me.
???: What kind of thing are you?!
Luffy: We could ask you the same thing.
*They find some weird looking bush.*
Nami: It came from over here.
Morbius: It was fired from that pistol.
Luffy: What is this thing?
Morbius: Must be some kind of weird bush.
*It then tries to run away but trips, revealing it’s true nature as someone with a green Afro stuck in a small chest.*
???: Hey, won’t you lift me up?
Nami: It's a man!
Luffy: It's some kind of cauliflower man!
Morbius: more like a broccoli man!
???: lift me up!
Luffy: Why are you getting upset? You tripped yourself.
Gaimon: Gum gum Fruit? That’s one of the devil fruits right? Never heard of that one before. But it’s the first time I’ve actually met someone who’s eaten one.
Luffy: This is the first time I’ve met someone in a treasure chest too. You’re like a son in a box.
Gaimon: Yeah, my parents took care of me when I was- wait, are you an idiot?! I got stuck here and I can’t get out! I’ve already lived on this island for 20 years.
Nami: You've lived on this island for 20 years by yourself?
Gaimon: That's right.
Morbius: for 20 years?
Gaimon: Yup.
Luffy: That’s dumb.
Gaimon: I’m going to kill you! 20 years is a long time to be here. My hair and mustache have grown so long. Even my eyebrows have connected each other. I haven’t talked to anyone in a long time.
Morbius: That's gotta suck.
*Luffy tries to pull him out.*
Gaimon: Ow! Ow! Ow! Ow!
Luffy: Why can’t I pull you out?!
Gaimon: Stop! You’re going to break my neck! I haven’t moved out of this chest in 20 years! My body and the chest have already become one! If you pull me out, I’m done for!
Morbius: Does science support that?
Nami: How did you even get on this island any way?
Gaimon: You said you were pirates earlier?
Luffy: Yeah, all of us are.
Gaimon: I was also a pirate once.
Morbius: I’m guessing that must have been before you got stuck in a chest.
Gaimon: It was nice being a pirate. Do you have any maps?
Luffy: yeah. We got this map of the world. I’m going to use it to find the one piece.
Gaimon: One piece?
Nami: You don’t know about the one piece?
Morbius: Please tell us you know what the red line is.
Gaimon: Of course I know what it is. It connects some of the major continents together.
Nami: That's right. It’s one of the biggest landmarks in the sea. The only one who sailed around the world was Gold Roger.
Luffy: And the one piece has got to be somewhere in the world somewhere. Which means we’ve got to sail around the entire world.
Gaimon: Idiots! It’s not going to be that easy! The sea is a graveyard for pirates. I’ve seen people come back from treacherous journeys. Everyone had lost their spirits. They all looked like they’ve been through a terrible battle with another pirate crew or sea monster. It’s been more than 20 years since the beginning of the great pirate era. That treasure you’re looking for could be nothing more than a legend.
Morbius: When Gold Roger was executed, it sent millions of people looking for his treasure. And so far, no one has found it.
Gaimon: The one piece is merely a dream within a dream.
Luffy: I think there’s gotta be a better ending, right?
Nami: If someone really found that much treasure, he wouldn’t tell anyone about it.
Morbius: That is what a regular person would do.
Luffy: I’m sure we’ll find it. I’m always lucky.
Nami: I don’t understand where you get so much confidence.
Gaimon:… Now I will tell you why I can’t leave this island.
Morbius: why?
Gaimon: It's not because I’m not mature! I don’t know how to adapt to the changes in situations!
Luffy: Huh?
Gaimon: It all started 20 years ago. I was a pirate and our ship was docked on the island. All because we found a map that said there was treasure on it. We searched for 3 weeks but couldn’t find anything. When everyone started to leave, I climbed up a large rock we hadn't looked. I couldn’t believe what I saw with my own eyes. There were five treasure chests on top of it. But I slipped and fell. By the time I woke up, I was stuck in this chest. I struggled to crawl to shore, but my crew had left me. I was alone with the treasure, but unable to reach it.
Morbius: That’s gotta suck.
Luffy: No one came here in the past 20 years?
Gaimon: People have come here. But they were looking for the treasure. So I used the “forest god” guise to scare them away. My eyes are never wrong. I’m sure there’s a lot of treasure on that rock hill! But I’ve been stuck in this chest for 20 years and haven’t been able to claim it! It’s mine!
Luffy: That's right. It’s all yours.
Morbius: You found them, therefore it’s yours.
Nami: Don’t worry gaimon, We’ll help you bring those treasure chests down!
Luffy: But aren’t you a thief who steals from pirates?
Nami: I have my principles!
*Gaimon takes Luffy, Morbius and Nami to the rock hill.*
Gaimon: This is it. It’s been a long time since the last time I came here.
Luffy: But why haven’t you asked anyone for help before?
Gaimon: Because I don’t trust anyone. And anyone who sees me like this wouldn’t believe me anyway. I’ve waited so long for this moment! Today is the happiest moment of my life!
Nami: Go for it Luffy!
Luffy: You want me to go up there?
Nami: Of course. Do I look like I can climb that?
Morbius: Yeah, right.
Gaimon: Go for it, Straw hat!
*Luffy stretches his arms and grabs onto the top of the hill, allowing him to reach it. Luffy finds the treasure chests.*
Luffy: There really are treasure chests up here! I count 5!
Gaimon: That’s great!
Morbius: Now bring them down!
Luffy: No way.
Nami: What are you talking about, Luffy?! Stop joking around and bring the chests down here!
Luffy: But I don’t want to!
Morbius: Damn it, Luffy! Just bring them down. You said you’d help him get his treasure!
Gaimon: Forget about it. It’s ok if he doesn’t bring them down.
Nami: But that’s your treasure!
Gaimon: Straw hat kid, you really are a good person.
Nami: What are you talking about?!
Morbius: What’s good about him not giving you the treasure you spent so long to protect?
Gaimon: I actually thought of it before… but I always tried hard to not think about it…
*Gaimon begins to cry.*
Gaimon: The treasure chests are empty, aren’t they?
Luffy: Yup, they’re all empty!
Gaimon: The treasure… it really did exist at some point. But by the time we found the map, it was already taken.
Nami: But the treasure you guard for 20 years…
Morbius: Was just a bunch of empty treasure chests.
Luffy: Hahahahaha! Don’t be so sad! Meeting us after 20 years is a good thing! Cause if it had been 30, you would be dead!
Morbius: That is a good point.
Gaimon: Straw hat…
Luffy: Don’t Worry, there is still a great treasure out there! The one piece is waiting for us! Will you join us?!
Gaimon: You’re inviting me to join your crew?
Morbius: I think he is. What do you say?
*Later*
Luffy: Are you sure you want to stay on the island?
Morbius: Yeah, since there’s no treasure it seems kinda pointless to stay here.
Gaimon: Thank you for inviting me, but I still need to be the Forest Guardian.
Luffy: How come?
Gaimon: Because there are many rare animals on this island.
Nami: That’s right. We saw a strange snake.
Morbius: And some weird pig.
Gaimon: There were people who came to this island to get these animals, and living here for 20 years has made me grown attached to them. I can’t leave them behind.
Luffy: You’re a rare animal too.
Gaimon: I’m going to kill you! Now that I know there’s no treasure, I am relieved. Now I can live here more comfortably.
Luffy: It’s too bad. You are an interesting person.
Morbius: And funny looking.
Gaimon: I’m sure you’ll find good companions for your crew, straw hat. Once you find the one piece, try buying the whole world.
Luffy: I’ll find it. See ya!
*Luffy and his friends depart the island while Gaimon continues to stay on the island and protect the animals living there.*
