it started as an argument
It had started as an argument.
A stupid one, at that.
Foggy had muttered that Stark's anti-Sokovia plans were a bad idea at the bar, and when Matt had agreed a little too loudly, it'd ended up in a debate with the lady sitting next to them and then some drunk guy Matt didn't even remember the name of that smelled like piss had turned it into a shouting match. The topic didn't even matter at that point. It only ended when Matt nearly threw up from his groggy senses.
When it happened, Matt had been on the highest rooftop he could reach, attempting to get away from all the noise, and had called Foggy. The phone was left a few feet away from him but not too far that if he heard a call for help he'd be late.
And then the most terrible sound had played out of god-knows-where and Matt couldn't sit there long before fainting.
Matt knew something was wrong when he'd woken up. He never woke up to pure silence, but he could only hear slight mumbling where voices should have been loud.
He clicked his tounge against the roof of his mouth, attempting to echo locate or something to help identify his surroundings, but they remained an empty room.
His clothes were itchy, and smelt like febreze, but until he knew what the hell had happened he couldn't really find a solution to that problem.
"Karen?" Foggy yelled into the reciever. "Are you seeing this?"
"Y-yeah."
"Can you reach Matt?" Foggy practically screamed. "I tried both of his phones."
"No. Try Frank, Frank only calls him when something important is happening. If he has his phone, he'll answer."
When it happened, Danny and Colleen were closing up so that Danny could go on patrol.
"Colleen?" Danny asked, his eyes wide?
"Yeah?"
"Look- look down."
Colleen looked, and then startled back, but then the ash spread to her face and she shattered.
"Oh, what the hell?"
When it happened, Jessica had been working a case when she'd watched the person she was hired to watch turn to dust in the arms of the woman he was cheating with.
That doesn't look good, she'd thought.
Luke had been asleep when it happened, and was only woken by his phone buzzing and buzzing with messages asking are you alive and are you seeing this?
Well... that was worrying.
