"When did you find him?"

"Just a little while ago. They found his plane and they brought him here. He just got here an hour ago."

"Why was I not told sooner? My grandfather searched for him for so long."

"I know Rebekah but we wanted to be sure before we got you involved."

"I will be helping."

"Rebekah, I'm not sure if…"

"No Fury, I don't ask for much and I could if I wanted to. But this, he was my grandfather's friend, Peggy's friend, the Howling Commandos. I owe it to all of them to help Steve. It is what all of them would have wanted and you know it, Fury. Plus I'm sure I would be a lot better when he wakes up than say one of you. I can say I'm Miss. Stark which I am."

"I don't know about this."

"I'm glad you see it my way. I will help in every way I can."

I smile and start to walk into the lab. But hear Fury whisper to Phil.

"She is on her way to taking over the world."

"Don't I know it, sir."

I watched as they took care of Steve and set up a 40's style room for him.

Watching through the screen with Fury and Phil I let out a sight. It had been a few days and we were still waiting for him to wake up.

"I don't think this setup is going to work."

"It is fine Rebekah if you keep saying that I'm kicking you out of here."

"I will be telling you so when it doesn't work."

"If not, I will let you but in the meantime have a little faith would you."

I sat quietly and watched. After a while, he woke up and looked around. I could tell he was confused. Fury sent a nurse agent in and I watched as they talked he asked about the game and then said he had been there at the game.

"I tried to tell you." Just then he used the agents that went in to break the fake wall and run. Turning to Fury I smiled.

"Told you so."

"Ya, I know." We got to the cars and took off after him.

We ended up surrounding him in Times Square. We got out and I was behind Fury.

"At ease, soldier." He called out to him before walking toward him, Talking more.

"You've been asleep, Cap, for almost 70 years. You going to be Ok?"

He said something I could not quite make out before looking around.

"If you want you can come back and we can talk." I could tell he was not sure so I decided to try. I walked over to them.

"Hello Steve, I'm Rebekah, Rebekah Stark."

"Stark as in Howard?"

"I'm his granddaughter. I would be more than happy to help you if you would like. You can trust us. I know right now you are confused and this is a lot to take in but I want to help."

"Alright, Miss."

"Please just call me Rebekah."

"Alright, Rebekah."

We took him back to S.H.I.E.L.D and told him a few things. I had spent some time putting together a file of his friends so he could read about them.

Fury set him up with a small apartment and once he was done debriefing him Fury had someone take him to the apartment. I caught them just before they left.

"Captain before you leave I put this together for you. Just information on the others and all. Plus my number is in there if you need anything. I know how some of the agents can be at times. I'm more than able to help with whatever you might need."

"Thank you, and please just call me Steve if you want me to call you Rebekah."

"Deal, feel free to call anytime."

"I will thank you."

"You're welcome. See you soon" He left and I went on my way to do the things I needed to get done that I had let slip the last few days.

Two weeks passed before an unknown number showed up on my phone.

"Hello."

"Hello, is this Rebekah?"

"It is, how are you, Steve?"

"I'm alright I think. I looked over the papers you gave me. Do you think we could meet? You seem to know a lot about what has happened."

"Of course. Will the cafe by Stark tower work for you?"

"I will see you there."

"See you in a few." We got off the phone and I headed down to get to the cafe. I was there only a few minutes when he showed up.

"I apologize for keeping you waiting."

"It's fine, I have only been here a few minutes. Plus I was right across the street."

"Do you work there?"

"Soon to live there once the renovations are all done."

"It's... nice."

"It's huge and over the top. Then again you knew Howard so I guess that will help you to understand my father."

"I saw Howard passed, I'm sorry."

"Thank you, the truth is you knew him better than me. I was only a few months old when he passed. I was told stories about him just like I was told stories about you."

"Who told you stories?"

"The other Howling commandos and Peggy. She had the best stories."

"So you do know them?"

"Know them all very well. We all would spend time together when my parents were at work. Peggy and I the most."

"She's still alive?"

"The last one, other than you now I suppose. She is an amazing person. Talked about you a lot though."

"What happened to her?"

"After you went in the ice they looked for you. Grandpa put everything he could into finding you and didn't want to give up. After a year they were starting to lose hope they would find you. Grandpa got himself into some trouble and Peggy helped him out of it. They became really close friends and were there for each other. Both knew what it felt like to miss you. The Howling commandos all moved here after a while as well and they were all friends. Peggy and Howard started S.H.I.E.L.D together and worked together for years. She met a really great guy and they got married and had two kids. Grandpa got married, they had my dad and they all lived their lives Peggy and Howard working together and being the best of friends. My parents met and became friends and once they were older mom joined S.H.I.E.L.D and then after they started to date had me. They didn't stay together but stayed friends and the best of parents to me. Peggy would hang out with me a lot when they were both working. She was there for me when my mom passed and still is always there."

"I'm sorry about your mother."

"Thank you. It was hard but I have a lot of amazing people around me."

"I saw in the file your middle name is Peggy."

"When mom was little Peggy saved her. She was taken and Peggy got her back. Mom adored Peggy and wanted me to have a strong female role model so she named me after her favorite one."

"Now the two of you are close?"

"Very much so, she is a gift to me. I was with her a few days ago, and the day you got here. When I got back from the visit you were at S.H.I.E.L.D."

"So she remembers then?"

"Everything most of the time, although she does have bad days every now and again. Now that all of the others are gone it is hard on her. But she always tells me she is glad I am around."

"A lot has changed from the time I went into the ice. I saw your father was some kind of something, a man of iron?"

"Iron man, a few years ago he was taken and built a suit to get out now he's using it to help people. For the most part."

"There sounds like there is some tension between you."

"I love my dad, I really do, but sometimes he can be a little much. You knew Howard, well Tony is his father's son. He can be really over the top and into himself but he's my dad and while he's not perfect he is there for me which is more than some get."

"The waitress told me yesterday that you can see him fly by sometimes."

"When he likes to make an entrance. He likes to go big in all he does."
"You don't?"

"No, he's like his dad, they both loved to go big. I on the other hand am like my mom. I don't really like being in front of everyone. Keep to myself most of the time and am pretty shy unless I know people. Don't like public speaking but I have had to before for dad."

"You have not seemed shy around me."

"Well, I feel like I know you."

"How?"

"I have been told all kinds of stories about you for as long as I can remember. I feel like I have known you my entire life."

"Well, then I guess I will need to get to know you so you don't have the advantage of knowing everything about me and I don't know much about you. What did they tell you about me?"

"All kinds of things, don't worry though it was all good. No one had anything bad to say about you. They all looked up to you."
"I don't know if that is a good thing."

"It is, you're a good man."

"Why do you say it that way?"
"Because it is true. That is the thing about people like you. You understand what it is like for people to judge you without even knowing you."

"It sounds like you understand that."
"A little too well I think at times."

"Do you mind me asking you about it?"
"No, my parents decided to keep me from the public."

"You're in the public now, though."

"I am, I grew up with people not knowing who my father was. The story was my dad was not around and it was just my mom and me. They didn't want people to know about me and be able to use me against them. Going to school with everyone thinking that my mom was a single mom and it was just us. The kids were not always that nice. They had some pretty terrible things they would call me. When mom passed they were even worse but I graduated early and moved in with dad full time. Within a month the whole world knew about me. Then people wanted to be my friends to get close to my dad or the money. I would give anything to just have a friend that liked me for me and not because of who I am, or who I know. I have friends with S.H.I.E.L.D and all but I guess it is not the same as friends outside of work. I just wish I would have a childhood friend, never had one of them other than the Howling commandos grandkids."

"The only friend I had was Bucky before I became Captain America. I'm sorry you went through all of that. You're an amazing person, they don't know what they are missing."

"Thank you, Steve, that means a lot to me."

"It's the truth."

"You really are as amazing as everyone said."

"I don't know about that."

"You are, trust me. I know a thing or two about people."

"Well if you say so."

"I do, Would you like me to show you around New York a little?"

"That would be nice, the truth is I keep getting lost. It is not the New York that I remember."

"Well, how about you show me your favorite places or where they were and I will show you some of mine."

"That sounds like a nice plan."

We spent the next hour walking around showing one another places we liked to go to and enjoying ourselves. I was amazed at some of the things still around from when he lived here.

"You know I think it is time I show you my favorite place."

"Where would that be?"

"First we need to change. Do you trust me?"

"I do."

"Then come on, you will love it." I grabbed his hand and pulled him behind me leading him to my car. We got in and I started to drive.

"So where are we going?"

"Somewhere to change and then somewhere really special."

About 15 minutes later I pulled up to the house.

"What is this?"

"One of my grandfather's houses. He put it in my name when I was born."

I led him into the house and we walked through until I got to one of the bedroom doors.

"You know he never lost hope that we would find you one day. He kept all kinds of things of yours. Things he said didn't belong in the museum." I opened the door and walked in. He came in after me. His uniform was still on the mannequin with a bag over it. There were Captain America things in the room. All the reasons my dad was not a huge fan of his.

"I know it might seem like a lot but he never forgave himself for not finding you."

"He kept all of this for me?"

"He was a complicated man. Now put on either your uniform or something else in the closet. I will be in the next room getting ready so you can let me know when you are done."

I started to walk out to get ready.

"Rebekah"

"Yes?"

"Thank you for this."

"You're welcome." I walked out, shutting the door behind me, and went into the room that I would use when I stayed here. It was a nice mix of the '40s and modern. A perfect mix of me. I went to the closet and pulled out a blue 40's style dress Peggy had got for me and quickly changed. Once I was dressed I let my hair down and it had a wave to it from the braid I had it in all day. So I left the wave and pinned some back when I heard a knock on the door. I picked up my earrings and called out.

"You can come in Steve." Ever so slowly he opened the door as I finished putting my earrings in. I looked to see he had his uniform on.

"You look very nice Steve, I see why men in uniform are so very popular."

I turned around to him and grabbed a necklace that was grandmas off the table that I had pulled out.

"You look beautiful."

"Thank you, do you think you could help me with this?" I asked, holding the necklace out.

"I can." He took it and I turned around lifting my hair as he put it on me and did it up.

"It's a beautiful necklace."

"Thank you, it was my grandma's. Grandpa gave it to her when they were dating."

"He loved her."

"Very much, from all of the stories I have been told, there was Howard before she came into his life and after."

"To find love like that must be pretty special."

"I don't know, I have never really been in love before. Not many people want to truly get to know me for who I really am."

"I will if you are alright with it."

"That would be really nice. Are you ready to go?"

"I think so."

"Do you trust me?"
"Yes"

"Then let's go." We left the house got back into the car and I drove back into the city. Once we got to the building I parked and we got out.

"Where are we?"

"You will see." We walked into a little dessert shop.

"Miss Rebekah, so lovely to see you."

"You as well Ruth. I trust you are doing well."

"Keep on dancing."

"You never stop." She smiled at us and I led Steve to the back pushing the shelf that led to the secret hallway.
"Is this some S.H.I.E.L.D thing?"

"No, but Howard and Peggy did start this together as well." I led the way before we got to another door.

"Captain, are you ready to step back in time?"

"I don't understand."

"You will." I could already hear the music and opened the door. We walked in and were in a club that looked like it never left the 40s.

"Welcome back to the '40s."

"What is this?"

"Howard wanted somewhere to hang out with the others. So he and Peggy came up with this. Only people who know how to get in even know this is here. They used to bring me here all the time. Come on, I will show you around." Pulling him into the room we walked around and I said hi to everyone as we passed by and made our way to the bar.

People were dancing and laughing and talking. All dressed in their 40's style. No one from the outside world was the wiser that this was here.

"Miss. Stark, good to see you."

"You as well. How have you been?"

"Still alive and kicking."
"Where would we be without you?"

"Well, hopefully, it's still quite a while before you find out."

"Many years from now. I'm not letting you go that easy."

"Well thank you, Miss. Stark. Who is your friend?"

"Frank, this is Steve. Steve, this is Frank, he has been the bartender here from day one. He became quite good friends with Howard, Peggy, and the guys."

"They always kept it lively around here. I miss seeing them all at their table. You have not been in for a while as well."

"I know I have been busy with everything."

"So the usual for you Miss. Stark?"
"You know me so well."

"From the time you were a baby. What will the Captain like?" He asked, looking at Steve.

"You know me?"

"The others always talked about you. Your picture is on the wall."

"The wall?"

"You show him the wall and I will bring your drinks to the table when you are done."

"Thank you."

"My pleasure." I took Steve over to the photo wall.

"Wow, not what I was expecting."

"I know Peggy put it together. It was a safe place here for all of them. Where they would come to get away from it all."

"Who is in all the pictures?"

"Well you know most of them, the baby in that picture with them is my dad. That one is the first time they met me. Grandpa and I, Peggy and I, the howling commandos and I. You with them. Peggy wanted to remember good moments, wanted to honor you as well they all did."

"This is really nice. The little girl, Is that you?"

"The first time I met the guys that I remember. After grandpa died I didn't see the others except for Peggy again until I was five when Peggy brought me here and then we all got together once a week. They used to tell me I could be the team mascot. That you and Bucky would have had no problem with me hanging around."

"You would have added some light and fun to our lives that I can tell for sure."

"Come on, we can talk at the table." I walked over to the table with him and he pulled a chair out for me. I sat down and thanked him before he sat down next to me. I smiled seeing where he had set.

"What?"

"Nothing, it is just that, the chair you are sitting at was always kept empty."

"I can move if you want."

"No, they saved it for you, the one on your other side they saved for Bucky. No one ever sat in these two chairs."

"Why?"

"They wanted to have a part of you both with them. It was important to them."

"Where would you set then?"

"Well when I was little I always sat next to Peggy, but as I started to get older I always sat here."

"Why did you sit there?"

"Well none of the others really did, grandpa used to sit in the chair next to me, and after he passed it set empty as well. Slowly they started to pass and we ended up with a table full of empty chairs."

"You could have sat anywhere but you sat in between two empty chairs?"

"It made me feel closer to grandpa and feel like in a way I would be able to get to know you better as well. I know it sounds crazy."

"Not at all, I understand wanting to feel close to people who are gone." I smiled at him as our drinks were brought to us.

"So you have all kinds of stories about them?"

"I do."

"Well, I would love to hear as many as you are willing to share."

"It will take a while."

"Then we will have to spend some time together if that is alright with you?'
"It is on one condition though."

"Name it."

"You have to tell me stories as well."

"Deal"

"Where do you want to start?"

"Where ever you would like." We spent the next few hours laughing and sharing stories about everything. It was almost midnight and people were mostly gone.

"I should get you home."

"It's alright, I have stayed out much later than this. I will just text Pepper and let her know I am alive and on my way home."

"Text?"

"Right, sorry I forgot. It is like a letter but gets to the other person faster. It goes with the phone. A cell phone like this. I will teach you." I pulled my phone out and sent Pepper the message and showed Steve. Within a few seconds, I got one back from her telling me she would see me when I got home.

"I'm afraid you will have to teach me a lot of things. The other day I was told about something called wireless."

"When are you free again we can start with modern world lessons."

"Don't really have too much going on. No friends around to go out with."

"Well, I will be your friend then. I hear I'm pretty good at it."

"I would like that." We start to head out and tell everyone that was still here goodbye and as we walk past the photo wall I freeze when I see something I had missed before. On the picture frame of me with all of them as a baby, it said 'family the key to life.

"Are you alright?"

"Yes sorry, let's go." I would have to come back later and look at it when I had some more time. We left and got back in my car.

"I feel like I should be making sure you get home alright, not the other way around."

"Well, maybe next time you can take me home then but let's get you more familiar with things because I would feel horrible if you got lost because of me." I had already started to drive to his apartment. Truth was, it was only a five-minute drive from home.

"How will I know you make it home tonight though. I'm sure it's the same that some not very good people are out this late at night."

"Alright if it will make you feel better I will call you once I get home," I tell him as I pull up to his place.

"That was quick."
"We weren't that far away. I will see you later Steve and I promise I will call when I get home."

"I will talk to you soon." He gets out and heads into his building and I wait until he is in before taking off and heading home.

The drive passes pretty quick and I park before heading upstairs. I open the door and see dad working on something.

"My daughter is alive."

"Don't be so dramatic I texted Pepper and I also let you know earlier I was going out with friends, and I would be home late."
"From work?"

"Yes, but I am fine and I will see you in the morning. Good night dad, I love you."

"Good night baby girl, love you too." I kissed his cheek and went to my room to change. I was amazed that dad didn't say anything about my outfit and called Steve.

"Hello?'

"Just letting you know I got home safe and sound."

"Good, I want to say thank you for today. For meeting me and helping me. Truth is the last few days have been hard. I keep waiting to see my old friends. To see the New York that I grew up in. I keep waiting to see Bucky."

"I'm so sorry Steve, I know all of this has to be hard and weird as well. I promise to help you in any way that I can. Although I am glad you enjoyed your day."

"It felt like being with the others. Like I was able to be a part of their lives through you."

"I truly am here anytime you need Steve. I want to help in any way I can. They were all important to me and you were to them. I know with my whole heart they would want me to help you in any way I can to make this transition easier for you. The world has changed a lot from the one you once knew. Sometimes I feel like I can't keep up. One of the reasons I love the club and loved being with all of them. I felt like I could go to a different time and place. I promise I will help you to feel safe here again."

"Thank you, I am grateful that I got to meet you. I have never met anyone like you before. No one would have been this nice just to be nice. I get people wanting to be around you for what you can do for them. With you, it is different though. Maybe because you know how it feels, but I think it is just because you are a really amazing person."

"Thank you, Steve, that means more to me than you know."

"Are we still on for tomorrow, Well later today?"
"Yes, same place?"

"I can do that."

"I will see you at 10 then."

"I will be there, I should let you get some sleep."

"Alright, You should as well. Tomorrow, we have a busy day teaching you all that I can about the new world you find yourself in now."

"I will make sure I get plenty of rest and I am ready to learn."

"Don't worry, I will be a nice teacher about it all."

"I will hold you to It."

"Good night Steve."

"Good night Rebekah." We hung up and I got into bed happy about the day I had. It had been one of the best days that I have had in a long time. I fell asleep with a huge smile on my face excited about what the day had to offer me.
