Scene 1: May 22nd, 1986, Hailey’s bathroom 6:45am
Hailey looked in the mirror - face visibly red and seemingly crying. She takes a deep breath and tries to splash some water onto her face as if it will help.
Hailey: (quietly, to herself) Get it together. Just get it together. (mumble, even quieter, she gets louder as she continues to talk) What the hell is wrong with me? Why am I even crying? I don’t even need that asshole anymore, I-
She is interrupted by her aunt’s voice from the kitchen.
Aunt: (from kitchen) BREAKFAST!!
Hailey takes one last breath then gulps a little, tearing her eyes away from the bathroom mirror.
Hailey: COMING!
Hailey drops her hands to her side, pulls on her backpack, and walks out of the bathroom with a sigh.
