Episode 1 - The day where they go back to work.
Synopsis : After a long 4 months holiday after defeating Thanos, the Avengers are finally going back to work but are paired up with unexpected partners. (Avengers centric)
Avengers tower :
The smell of bacon was floating around the kitchen and making it's way to the living room. Of course Steve was making breakfast. It was mostly his duty because..... let's say he was the only one who knew how cook nicely. Bucky and Sam came to the living room, bickering about who gets to read the newspaper first but stops immediately as they smelled the food.
Bucky : Mmmm... My god Steve what magic are making in there?
Steve (slightly laughing) : I was just making bacon and eggs casserole. It's done, I'm about to serve it.
Sam : Do it fast or my tummy's goi'n to disagree with you very hard.
As Steve was making the plates, a pair of hands wrapped around his neck and few strands of red - blonde hair falling over his face.
Natasha : Good morning.
Steve : Good morning. How are you up so early?
Natasha : Well.. I smelt food.
Steve (smiling) : I understood that. Go wait in the living room I'll be there in a minute.
Natasha nodded and dropped on the couch on between Sam and Bucky.
Natasha : Hey losers!
Sam : Hey look who's up so early. Isn't 9 supposed to be like still midnight for you?
Natasha : Ya but how would you know, you have to get up early and chirp birdman.
Bucky : That's kinda accurate. When we go to run with Steve in the morning and he can't catch up with us, he does chirp like a bird.
Natasha and Bucky started laughing. Soon Tony came down making a grand entrance like he does every single morning. It gets really annoying.
Tony : Good morning fellas. Look who's in the house.
Natasha, Sam and Bucky : Morning Stark.
Tony looked at Steve and they silently acknowledged each other.
Sam : Man they really haven't warmed up to each other yet.
Natasha : Ya it's really annoying. It's been 2 years and they can't drop this shit.
After Bruce came up from the lab they had breakfast together. Tony went to the middle of the room and cleared his voice.
Tony : So as you all know, today we finally go back to work after our 4 months holiday. It's nothing big.
Natasha : What is it?
Tony : It's a little hydra drug bust. Nothing big for us. Also Peter will be joining in so it's everybody's duty to look after him. Suit up quickly. We leave in 15 minutes.
Saying so he left the living room while the others groaned.
Sam : Does he really think that he's our leader? Why do we have to follow his orders?
Natasha : Don't know. Don't care. I don't follow anyone's orders anyways.
The Avengers were ready and in the quinjet when a certain kid in a red and blue suit hopped in.
Tony : Hello Spiderman. Late again. What was it? Math homework?
Peter : Hey Mr. Stark. More like studying for tomorrow's physics test but I'm sorry.
Steve : Alright kid, we're ready to leave. We all have our partners?
There was an awkward silence.
Steve : Okay so we forgot to choose our partners.
This was the perfect opportunity for the other avengers to get Tony and Steve to work together. So they started choosing partners..... which was unusual for them. Clint took Sam. Natasha took Rhodey. Bucky, unwillingly took Peter. He wasn't very fond of the little bug that everybody loved or that's what he wanted to show. So that left Tony and Steve. Having no choice, they agreed. As they reached their destination, the Avengers along with their unusual partners went their went their ways that was subjected to them. Tony and Steve took the front gate. Tony was flying with Steve walking beside him. Things were very quite. Tony finally decided to break the ice.
Tony : Hope you haven't lost your touch Cap.
Steve smiled softly.
Steve : I hope I haven't.
He sighed.
Steve : You know I missed this.
Tony : What? Butting out Hydra? Of course you would.
Steve (laughed softly) : That too. But I was talking about this. Us. Coming together again to face a threat even if it is as small as capturing a Hydra drug cartel. I missed us. As a team.
Tony just nodded. He didn't show it but somewhere he was glad that they were talking again.
Tony (clearing his throat) : Shall we go back to our work.
Steve : Yes.
They were making progress but somewhere else, two weren't.
Peter : Mr. Barnes can you like lift up cars weighing tons with that metal arm? I mean I can do that but it does take a lot of effort but you have a literal vibranium arm so wouldn't it be easy for you?
Bucky : What are you talking about? Firstly why will I pick up cars with one hand? And secondly it's not that easy. Ya it's stronger but I don't think it can do that.
Peter : So you cannot lift up cars?
Bucky : Who said that? Of course I can. I am a super soldier not just because of the arm. The arm alone can't do that.
Peter : Oouuuu
Peter's eyes grew large in his spidy suit.
Peter : So Mr. Barnes you can throw that large trunk at the bad guy who is currently behind us waiting to strike us?
Bucky : Whaaat? Why didn't ya tell me before?
Bucky shouted as he struck down the large dude and peter tied him up with his web and hung him upside down.
Bucky : Why'dya do that?
Peter : Arrr... It's just fun that way also it's high enough in such a distance that any other bad guy coming this way would bang his head in apparently his head and will be knocked out.
Bucky rolled his eyes. The kid was annoying but he surely knew what he was doing. On the other hand, Clint and Sam were trying to work with each other as they fought off some guys and took the packages they had.
Sam : Did you ever wonder what you would do if you had wings like me?
Clint : Ehh... I don't know. I mean I mean I'm happy like this but I guess it'll be better if could shoot arrows while flying.
Sam : Then why don't you tell Stark to make you one?
Clint : Ha ha if Stark made me wings, hell make sure I fall of them the moment I try it.
Sam : Well I can't deny. Hey look it's Bucky and the spider.
Sam said as he spotted Bucky and Peter. Soon Natasha and Rhodey also came in.
Rhodey : OK our work is done. I actually really enjoyed working with you Natasha.
Natasha : Me too. We should team up more.
Rhodey : Ya
Bucky (grunting) : I wish I could say that.
Peter : Hey where is Mr. Stark and Mr. Rogers?
Rhodey : They haven't finished yet? Let's go find them.
The three teams marched on to search for Steve and Tony. They, on the other hand were not having a better time at doing their job. Steve had knocked a few of them out and Tony had blasted a few more but they were still outnumbered. They has invaded the main portion of the cartel so they got more bad guys than the others. They were fighting when Tony noticed someone trying hit Steve from behind. He forgot about his own bad guy and jumped forward.
Tony : Steve! Duck!
He said as he flew to his back and blasted that guy. Steve on the other hand caught the guy Tony had left and one punch was enough for them. They had learnt to work together again and they both were proud of it. By the time others reached, they had already taken out everyone and we're about to go out.
Natasha : God you two are so beaten up. Quickly board the Quinjet so we can go home.
Hmm was all that was heard. Everyone boarded the Quinjet. Steve and Tony sat quietly next to each other. It was Steve's turn to talk first.
Steve : Thank you Tony for helping me.
Tony : Ah that's not a big deal.
Steve knew they had to talk about their issues and thought it was a good moment to start.
Steve : You know I didn't know it was him.
Tony : What?
Steve : I didn't know that Bucky killed your parents. I knew they were killed by Hydra but didn't know it was Bucky. I didn't tell you because I didn't wanna hurt you. I was trying to find out who did and wanted to tell you when I did. But things didn't go that way.
Tony sighed.
Tony : I think I knew that somewhere. But in that moment I just needed to blame someone. It was very hard to process you know. I knew deep down that you meant well but at that moment I felt betrayed and now that I have had time to think about it, it was not my best moment.
Steve : Neither was mine, Tony. It was my fault to you know I should have told you.
Tony : Hmmm. By the way if you are wondering, I have forgiven Bucky. It was not his fault. He wasn't in control of his mind. That's why I let him stay in the tower.
Steve : Thank you very much for that Tony. We are very grateful.
Tony : You know I would have called you when Thanos came if I didn't have to go to space and staff.
Steve : I know. That's why the moment Rhodey had called, we did not waste any time to come.
Tony : This is probably the hardest thing I am doing but I'm sorry.
Steve : I'm sorry too Tony.
Then Tony did something very unexpected. He stood and hugged Steve. Steve was startled for a minute but eased down and hugged him back. The others were watching them from a distance, happy that they were making up.
Peter : Look, they reconciled.
Sam : Thank goodness, things won't be awkward anymore.
Natasha just smiled at them.
After handing the drugs to Maria Hill, they all went home.
THE NEXT DAY IN THE TOWER
Steve was making breakfast as usual. It was eggs and bacon day. The others had hovered around waiting to dig in when Tony entered. All went quiet. He went up and greeted everyone.
Tony (smiled) : Good Morning everyone. Good Morning Steve.
Steve returned his smile.
Steve : Good Morning Tony.
Everyone sighed in relief. They were getting there. It was gradual but was not impossible.
