Looking For Her

Thor had spent much of his morning hunting for Y/N. Out of the corner of his eye he saw Michael walking down one of the hallways. Raising his arms over his head he gesticulated wildly.

“Lady Michael!” He shouted. She turned to look at him curiously. Thor gave her a broad grin before running the short distance to reach her. Not taking in account his size and speed, he plowed into Michael, taking her down with him.

“Oof!” Michael wheezed under the full weight of Thor.

“Lady Michael are you alright?” He cocked his head to the side looking down at her with concern. She weakly tapped her hand on the ground, attempting to take in deep gulps of air.

“Thor…off.” Shaking her head, she tapped on his shoulder several times. Nodding vigorously, he leapt to his feet and offered her a hand. Reaching for his hand, she took a deep breath and eased herself up. Unfortunately for her, Thor once more underestimated his size and strength. In the effort of pulling her up, he did so too roughly. She wheezed again as she slammed into his rock wall of a chest.

“Lady Michael-“

“Thor, shut up.” Placing a palm over his face, she leaned her forehead on his chest and took several bracing breaths. He shifted impatiently. Finally satisfied that her feet were on firm ground, Michael took a step back and brushed herself off. When Thor reached to help her, she gave him a dirty look. “Refrain from touching me with your bear paws, Thor.” His face wilted in guilt at her tone. Sighing, she instantly felt bad for being so harsh. It wasn’t his fault he was built like a mountain. “Thor, I’m sorry. You just must realize that I’m not a rag doll.” She patted his shoulder apologetically.

“I am sorry as well Lady Michael, I-“ He was stopped by Michael lifting a finger.
“We shall never speak of this again, Thor.” Pausing, she patted her chest. “Before this little routine you were trying to get my attention? Was there something you needed?” She looked up at him slightly. Thor gave a singular nod.

“Yes. Have you seen Y/N? I have been looking for her everywhere?” Michael drew her thumb across her jaw thinking for a moment.

“As a matter of fact,”

“Yes?” Thor looked at her expectantly.

“No.” His face dropped. “But” she paused, looking at him mischievously. “I do believe she said something to me this morning about a surprise.” His face lit again.

“This surprise wouldn’t be for me would it, Lady Michael?” Thor grinned, joining her little game. She looked at him in false shock.

“Why, Thor! Whatever would give you that impression?” Leaning a little closer, she cupped her hand to her mouth. “You heard nothing from me.” Backing up she winked. Thor’s eyes danced with laughter.

“As it so happens, Lady Michael, I have my own surprise for Y/N.” Now it was her turn to be curious. Thor paused to look down both ends of the hall. Once again misfortune struck in the fact that he failed to notice Tony just around the corner from the other direction. Giving Michael a conspiratorial look, he leaned in and showed her a small simple wooden box. Gasping, she quickly covered her mouth to muffle the sound. As luck would have it, this was the exact moment Tony had peaked his head around the corner. Neither Thor nor Michael had noticed him yet, but he had noticed the familiar sight of a ring box.

“Oh, Thor! Is that what I think it is?” She didn’t even try to suppress her large smile. Thor sported a proud grin of his own.

“I think we’ve waited long enough, don’t you?” He attempted to lower his voice. Looking at him with bright eyes, she shook her head.

“Oh yes, Thor!” Michael clapped her hands.

“Shouldn’t he be on one knee before you say yes?” Tony said, rounding the corner with his arms crossed. Michael flinched before turning to face her best friend, plastering a smile on her face. Thor fumbled to put the box back in his pocket, mumbling about ‘stupid Midgardian apparel’.

“Tony!” Michael said too brightly. This did not quell the suspicion in Tony’s eyes. Waking quickly to his side, she looped her arm through one of his and attempted to drag him away. He was not budging.

“Oh boy, you’re using my first name. That can’t be good.” He smirked. “What’s the matter, Duchess? Don’t have the heart to break the ‘happy news to me?” She rolled her eyes and pulled her arm from his.

“Really, Stark.” She rolled her eyes again. Leaning against the wall, he recrossed his arms and looked from her to Thor.

“How long have you two been having this clandestine courtship?” He quirked a brow and grinned. Michael looked at Thor and sighed. The poor man was beside himself.

“Please, Man of Iron, don’t tell Adrienne about what you’ve seen.”

“Thor, I’m shocked.” Tony touched his chest. “That you would carry on with your girlfriend’s best friend behind her back.” Clicking his tongue, he slowly shook his head. “For shame.”

“Oh please, Stark.” Michael crossed her arms and turned to Thor. “Don’t listen to him, Thor.” She shot Tony a knowing look. “He knows that you were not proposing to me.” Thor visibly relaxed. Marching to Tony’s side, she narrowed her eyes and poked his chest with her index finger. “And it’s a surprise.” He looked at her thoroughly unimpressed.

“Brother Anthony.” Thor gave Tony a pleading look. Tony looked from Thor back to Michael.

“Tony,” she softened her voice, changing tactics. “Please.” Looking at him coyly she trailed her finger up his chest and laid her palm on his arc reactor. Michael could sense he was wavering with every rapidly increasing beat of his heart. Shifting, he looked at her conflictedly.

“Oh, no. Not this time.” He shook his head and folded his arms. She dropped her hand. “What’s in in for me?” He smiled smugly. Huffing a sigh, Michael quickly turned back to look at Thor. His face had gone blood red and she could sense that his patience was running thin. If Tony kept this up, he would end up with a broken neck. Turning back, she turned her brightest smile on Tony. A tiny bit of uncertainty flickered across his face before he schooled his features back to the familiar smug smirk. Placing two fingers on his reactor, she leaned into him.

“Your unharmed dignity and intact manhood, Tony.” She whispered huskily in his ear. Leaning back, she rested her elbow on his shoulder and smiled wickedly. Tony sputtered and pulled away from her.

“I’ll keep that in mind, Dr. Mercer.” He mumbled, gripping his tablet tightly in his hand and scurrying back down the hallway. Michael turned to Thor.

“He won’t say anything.” She smiled widely. “I guarantee it.”
