Luffy, Law, and Zoro hated being apart. They are all strong, so it’s not like anything will happen to each of them before they all meet back up on a prehistoric island in their territory. Right?
Luffy was happily exploring the island they were going to be meeting up with Law on when he caught the scent of roasting meat. What should have had him going to get some of his crew together to investigate had him sprinting through the forest, mouth drooling. He lived up to the Monkey name by swinging his way through the dense forest in search of the meat he assumed Sanji was cooking.
It wasn’t Sanji’s cooking.
The clearing was large and leafy, and had his crew’s corpses strewn about around a campfire.
Luffy screamed.
Zoro twitched; he thought he heard Luffy in agony. He got up, grabbing his swords. He refused to let Luffy be alone in whatever had happened in the short hours they were apart.
“Oi! Where are you going, Moss-Head?” Sanji yelled from where he was fawning over Nami and Robin.
“Lookin’ for Luffy, Shitty Cook.” Zoro snapped back.
The rest of the crew all started getting up as well. It was an unacknowledged fact that Zoro seemed to have a Luffy’s in trouble sense.
The Swordsman shook his head. “I’ll handle it. Watch out for Torao and send him our way.”
The rest of the crew nodded. They didn’t want to sit out when it seemed that their captain was in trouble, but it was hardly their place to overstep here. While taking care of Luffy was a crew effort, sometimes their Captain just needed Zoro and or Law if the Surgeon was close enough. Sabo was also a professional Luffy wrangler as well, but no one knew where he was at most of the time because of the work he did for the Revolutionaries.
Zoro headed out into the forest in the direction he thought he heard Luffy from, but it quickly became apparent that the acoustics of the forest messed with his senses. He came upon a bog where his progressed slowed as he made his way across by jumping from tree to tree. The air in the bog tasted weird on the Swordsman’s tongue when he heard what sounded like Kaido’s voice boom out as though he were fighting Luffy, taunting him. He felt his blood freeze.
Kaido was dead. Was supposed to be at least. The seemingly indestructible Emporer was alive and on the island.
Zoro cursed. They were stronger than when they were when they first fought him, but that doesn’t mean that Kaido didn’t also get stronger. He knew he couldn’t defeat Kaido on his own, and as much as it grated on him, he had to try. He had to try to make enough noise to alert the rest of the crew and save Luffy. Zoro wasn’t used to fear.
He wasn’t used to it clawing its way into his chest and sit there. It was in seeing his Captain being almost torn apart. It was finding everyone’s corpses around the camp site he just left. It was seeing Law reaching out for his as he was dying from a mortal wound and reaching out for him. He wasn’t fast enough. He couldn’t even give Law a moment of comfort as he watched the angsty Emporer slump, dead. He had to get to Luffy. He had to save Luffy
Meanwhile on Shank's ship…
Law just glared at the red head. His somewhat but not really father in law had him and his crew more or less hostage. The Tang was being tugged behind them, and they were all headed to the Strawhat's location together. Now, it wasn't unusual for one of Luffy’s weird ass family to kidnap him and or his crew for awhile, but normally, Shanks would have them partying by now as he tried to get the Surgeon drunk.
The silence was deafening. Law was almost as nervous as he was whenever Sabo decided to visit the Tang. In his defense, Sabo can be very fucking scary.
Shanks was glaring him down when Benn came up to them with drinks. "Thankya much." He said with a grin to his second in command, then he offered the drink to Law. “Here ya go!”
Law was sweating a little bit. He often forgot how scary Shanks was because of how gentle and caring he was with Luffy. His presence had Law wanting to kneel, submit, or do whatever for it to ease. “Um, thanks.” He gulped down the drink in one go and quickly realized his mistake as the older Emporer asked him question after question that he couldn’t lie to.
Fucking hell. Law knew Truth Serums exist, but he didn’t know they were this effective. Now, Shanks knew what a fucking psycopath he was. F.
“What’s your relationship with Eustass-ya?” Law asked, tired of being the only one questioned.
Shanks’s eyes narrowed dangerously. “What do you mean by that?”
“Because you made him basically your twin.”
Everyone just blinked in mild amazement or horror.
Law glared back at Shanks; his mild suicidal tendency coming out. “He’s already a red head. Unusually fond of Luffy-ya. Cut off the loud mouth’s arm as well.”
Shanks looked at Law blankly.
“You could make a one arm club together.”
Shanks pursed his lips, sensing where this was going.
“I would be apart of it.”
If Luffy didn’t love Law, he would definitely be dead right now.
“But, I reattached mine.”
Everyone inhaled sharply.
“Now, let’s fucking stop with the interrogation, Shanks-ya. Luffy-ya would be more than amused to see you and your crew as pieces of my art as long as I promised him I would put you all back together.”
Shanks wasn’t used to fear, but something about the glint in Law’s eyes scared him just a little bit. “Fine, we’re almost at the island anyways.”
The air was oppressive as the monster in Law wasn’t being put away, but happily watched everyone squirm around him. Shanks suppressed a shudder. Why in the fuck did his kid choose a goddamn sociopath?!
When they got ashore on the island, Nami grabbed Law’s arm with a frantic look in her eye. “Zoro thinks Luffy is in danger, but they’ve both been gone for hours. We can’t sense them at all on the island and-”
Law’s eyes got even more dangerous. All three crews wanted to back away from the oppressive Killing Intent that the Surgeon of Death was releasing. “Room.” The entire island was ensnared in the blue dome. “Shambles.” Zoro appeared at Law’s feet. “Shambles.” Luffy appeared and latched onto Law and Zoro, using his rubber body to his advantage.
“T-Torao!” Luffy’s voice wavered miserably. A string of quiet “Zoro”s and “Torao”s broke the hearts of everyone.
Law’s Killing Intent doubled down, leaving most of them clutching at their chests. “Shambles.” The Surgeon growled out, leaving three buttons in their places.
Nami was shaking. “What the hell happened?!”
“I don’t know.” Shanks said. “We should move islands. This place isn’t safe to wander around on.”
In the Captain’s Quarters of the Thousand Sunny, Law held his lovers close as the shook. He was also pleasantly surprised to feel the ships covnig through the water to get away from this cursed island.
“Torao?”
“Yes, Lu-ya?” Law’s voice was soft; Zoro had fallen asleep against them.
“I love you.” Luffy gave a soft kiss against Law’s jaw. “You’re not allowed to die.” His eyes glowed faintly, hair flickering between white and curly and black and straight.
“I love you too, Lu-ya. I won’t die on you.” He kissed the younger Captain on the forehead. “You can’t die either. You are mine.” The last part came out as a possessive growl that Luffy just shuddered at.
“Of course.” Luffy said in his ‘duh’ voice. “‘Nd Zoro too.”
“And Zoro-ya, too.”
With bonds reaffirmed, the trio settled down to nap away the pain together.
