Soft Valentine
Konro was working on the logistics paperwork when Beni slammed the door to the office open
"How can I help you, Waka?" His head tilted slightly to the side with a faint smile on his lips. The pen he was using found its way to the table as his whole focus was on Beni.
Beni on the other hand couldn't even look at Konro. He knew he would start blushing because of the nature of his interruption. "Here."
Catching the thown bag, Konro opened it to find pouches of his favorite tea and some of Granny's daifuku. "Thank you-" Beni left slamming the door. "Beni."
He chuckled to himself. The scarlet tipped ears was all he needed to know. It was Saint Valentine’s Day after all. His prickly young master must have worked himself up just to get the present for him, let alone deliver it. It wasn't an uncommon occurrence to see Benimaru randomly give gifts or packages to Konro. He was similar to partially tamed cat, bringing dead prey animals to someone they decided was important to them.
He smiled, a light blush dusted Konro's cheeks as he thought of a way to repay Beni's kindness. As he was getting swept away by his imagination, the twins slammed the sliding door open. He should really get them to stop emulating Beni's worst bad habits.
"HAPPY SAINT VALENTINE’S DAY, KONRO!" They squealed together, bringing gifts of a special chocolate they knew Konro liked.
He smiled, "Thank you, and happy Saint Valentine’s Day to you two as well." He gave them each a daifuku from the bag Beni gave him, knowing that they were to bribe good behavior from the twins.
They accepted them cheerfully and went on their way to collect sweets from everyone in town. He would have to make sure they brushed their teeth tonight for sure. Holidays always allowed the twins to gorge themselves on candy to their heart's desire. It warmed his heart, knowing that they were growing up so cared for.
Everything might be going to shit with the Pillars and all that shit, but at least there was some semblance of peace between it all.
That night found him on his knees for Beni as his Waka changed his bandages as if it were a sacred ceremony. If Konro were a cat; he would be purring from being so content. As much as he hated his tephrosis, he would always love these quiet moments he got with Beni. His ill-tempered Waka that nolonger did this out of a sense of obligation, but he choose to do it for them to be near and quiet together. It was a peaceful night. It was warm and soft with the ever so rare cuddle pile where Beni allowed himself to be close and vulnerable with those he cared for. It was also the best St. Valentine’s Day Konro would always remember.
