Chapter 7
So much had happened in the 5 years since Buck and Eddie met and it had been amazing but scary at the same time.
The couple had moved to Los Angeles and Buck had introduced Carla to Eddie and they hired her to be Chris's home health aid and they gave her a contract with regular days and if she had to swap they were fine with it.
Carla has been there for Buck so many times and she is the best thing to ever happen to them and they would be lost without her.
Carla first met Buck when he was first brought to the hospital after he thought it be a good idea at 11 years old to jump out of the tree he was playing in and Carla was a nurse at the time who was completely taken by the young boy and from that moment Carla became a good friend to Buck and to his family.
Buck had started at a law firm called Larkhall Associates and it was one of the most prestigious law firms in L.A. and it didn't take long for Buck to make partner.
Eddie had started his teaching job at a private school called Earls Park Academy and just like Buck he became deputy headmaster not that long after.
Christopher was also attending Earls Park Academy and the school catered to loads of different students and they had the best reputation and Christopher was doing so well and he made so many friends.
Chris had come home in a bad mood and slammed his bedroom door.
After giving Chris time to cool down Buck and Eddie spoke to him and he told them that he heard a teacher saying that it was wrong for two men to be together let alone have a child who is disabled.
The teacher it turns out is Ana Flores and Eddie has dealt with her numerous times and he has always tried to be nice to her but this time she has stepped over the line.
Buck and Eddie were furious and they looked at each other and silently agreed to go to the headmistress and speak to her.
Eddie knows that Christopher never complains about him having Cerebral Palsy but Eddie can never understand how rude and judgemental people can be but he is so proud of his son who just lets those nasty words go over his head and not let it affect him that much.
Buck is constantly amazed by how his son is always the happy little boy he is and just keeps swimming as Chris told him one time when they were at the beach and he loves him even more for being so kind and thoughtful his son really does have a big heart.
Buck and Eddie tell Chris everything about his mother even though Chris was only two when it happened he remembers certain things and he asks does he have to see her and Buck said that is your choice and Chris says he doesn't want to as he has is Dad and his Papa and from that day both men agreed to be honest and they would tell their son everything but only if he needed to know certain things.
The Next morning after Eddie and Buck have dropped Chris off at his first lesson for the day they both go and see the headmistress who is called Tanya Gates who has been the headmistress for the last 15 years and knows how to handle these types of situations.
Eddie and Buck walk in to the office and they are met by the secretary who is called Trisha Watson and when she saw Eddie she was surprised but when he asked for a meeting with her boss as he and his husband wanted to talk to her she went and got up and knocked on the door after a few minutes she heard a voice say enter and she went in and 5 minutes later she came out and said that the headmistress will see them both.
When Trisha came in to her office and said that Mr Diaz and his husband would like to see her Tanya was very confused as she wasn't expecting to see Eddie until later this afternoon as the teacher only had 3 classes today reason being is most of his students were on a field trip and he said he would do some work at home until he had to come in and Eddie has been reliable since he started that's why she promoted him to deputy headmaster but it must be serious for him and his husband to come in this early to talk to her so she told her secretary to tell them she will see them.
Eddie and Buck entered the office and Eddie introduced Buck to Tanya who it turns out works with her husband Conrad and they both laughed that they didn't make the connection.
After a few minutes Eddie and Buck told Tanya what Chris had told them and how he was angry and upset about what the teacher had said and Tanya couldn't believe that a teacher who worked here would even say something like that and she was going to speak to them and remind them to keep their opinions to themselves.
1 hour later Eddie and Buck left Tanya's office and they both felt very good about how the meeting went and Eddie reassured his husband that Tanya would make sure to stamp out that kind of behavior from teachers and students.
After spending half the morning together Eddie heads into work and says goodbye to Buck who has the day off from work and says he will get the errands done that Eddie mentioned in the morning.
Buck had done most of the errands he needed to do and is just about to head home when his phone rings and he looks at it and see that it is Christopher's school and Buck answers it and the secretary tells him that Chris got hit by another student and they are sending him home and they need him to come and pick Christopher up so Buck makes a different turn and heads back to the school.
Buck arrives at the school and goes to the headmistress office where Buck sees Christopher and another student who looks to be a teenager and Buck knows that he is the one who hurt his little boy.
Christopher is not having a good day and he can't wait to go home and just cuddle with his Papa and let him take care of him.
Chris has been getting bullied by some older students and they have been saying nasty things about him and to him and Chris doesn't understand why he has done nothing wrong and just minded his own business but this group of teenagers decided to make Chris their own personal project and at first Chris let it go but today he stood up to them and told them to leave him alone and the leader decided to hit him and a teacher saw the whole thing and now Chris is waiting in the headmistress office waiting for his Papa to come and get him.
"Chris" Buck says, coming to a stop in front of him.
"Papa" Chis says, hugging him.
Buck picks his son up and gives him a great big hug and lets his son enjoy the comfort for a few minutes and after a while they pull apart.
Buck looks at the teenager who hurt his son and he wants to say something but he's stopped from doing so as the door to the headmistress office opens and out walks Tanya and two people who Buck figures are the boy's parents.
The boy's parents apologize to Buck and tell him that their son has been a disgrace and they don't condone what he has been doing and they hope Chris is OK.
Another hour later and Buck and Chris are on their way home and Tanya said she will inform Eddie and let him know that Buck took Chris home.
Buck couldn't get his head around the fact that his son had been keeping the fact that he was getting bullied to himself and it breaks his heart
Buck decides to take Chris for some ice cream and to find out why he didn't get told what his son was going through.
Chris tells his Papa everything about how the boy and his friends made him his special project and how they were mean to him and he didn't want his dad and papa to know just in case they thought he was being too much and too needy.
Buck told his son that he can always come to him and his dad if anything is bothering him or he is upset.
Chris feels a lot better and after the ice cream him and Buck head home to enjoy some cuddles.
Buck and Chris got back to the house and straight away Buck knew something was wrong as soon as they entered Buck noticed a strange suitcase and he heard the shower and he knew that he and Christopher weren't alone.
"Chris, I need you to go and wait back in the car for me?" Buck asks.
"Is something wrong?" Chris asks.
"I need you to do what I asked and when you're in the car please call granny Athena and she will come and help us" Buck says.
Chris listens to his Papa and goes to the car and locks himself in and grabs his phone and calls his granny Athena.
Buck goes to the safe that he and Eddie keep in their bedroom and types the code in and takes out his gun that he told Eddie was only for emergency use and he is fully licensed to carry.
Athena is at the station talking to her friend Captain Elaine Maynard and showing her photos of her grandson growing up through the years.
"He's absolutely gorgeous, Athena. You must feel so lucky to have such a cute grandson?" Captain Maynard says.
"Thank you Elaine I know I'm being biased but he is definitely the most adorable boy I know" Athena says.
Captain Maynard just laughs and she is glad that her friend is happy and looking at the photos of Christopher who can blame her the kid is like a ball of sunshine and to be honest she is glad that Buck found his person she still finds it strange when she sees pictures of him as she will always remember the scared kid who accidentally got her with pepper spray when he was visiting Athena at work and he thought he was in trouble but he wasn't and it still brings a smile to her face when she thinks of the memory.
Athena is about to ask her friend something when her mobile goes off and Chris' picture and name flash up on her phone and immediately Athena hopes that her boys are OK.
Elaine sees the look on Athena's face and her heart stops and she silently hopes that everything is OK with Athena’s boys so Elaine mouths loudspeaker and Athena understands so when she answers she immediately puts it on loudspeaker.
"Christopher baby is everything ok?" Athena asks, keeping her voice calm and acting like it's just a normal conversation.
"No Granny, Athena Papa and I got home and he saw that someone broke in and they were in the bathroom and Papa told me to wait in the car and call you. Chris says.
"Ok Honey where is your Papa?" Athena asks.
"He is still in the house and I'm scared. What if something happens to him?" Chris asks.
"Christopher I know you're scared and I'm scared too but I need to be Athena the police Sergeant is that OK?" Athena asks.
"But you'll go back to being Granny Athena after the bad person is arrested right?" Christopher asks.
"Of Course I will baby," Athena says.
After reassuring her grandson son Athena got off the phone and looked at her Captain and she said let's go.
It only took 5 minutes to get to her son and son in law's place and once Athena and Captain Maynard arrived they both checked on Christopher who was smart enough to open the window a little bit just so he didn't feel completely unsafe.
Captain Maynard and Athena told Christopher that they were going to head into the house and they will send his Papa out so he won't get hurt.
Captain Maynard and Athena enter and they see Buck who has his gun drawn and they tell him to stand down and go be with his son and they will take care of the situation.
Buck heads out and Athena and Captain Maynard head towards the bathroom and they bang on the door and call out "LAPD WE'RE COMING IN".
Athena and Captain Maynard enter the bathroom and they pull back the shower curtain and standing there is a woman with brown hair and brown eyes.
"Who the hell are you two?" The Woman asks.
"We are the LAPD and the better question is who are you?" Captain Maynard asks.
"That's none of your business" The Women says.
"I think you'll find it is our business since we the police have asked you to identify yourself" Captain Maynard says.
Captain Maynard already hates this woman and she has a feeling this self entitled stranger is going to bring trouble and shatter a few lives.
"My Name is Maddie Buckley" The woman says.
Athena stands there in shock and her worst fears have come true her son's past has come back to cause him trouble.
