Chapter 4
It had been two days since Buck agreed to go on a date with Eddie and he was getting nervous.
Buck wanted this date to go well and he wanted to make a good impression with Eddie so he went and bought at least 5 suites all in different colors but he decided to go with the blue as that made his eyes pop.
At the Diaz household Eddie was just as nervous as Buck was.
Eddie knew Buck had money and would expect the best restaurant and the best seats and the expensive wine and Eddie just couldn't afford that.
Ramon knocked on Eddie's bedroom door to check on him as he had been in there for at least an hour and a half and he was getting worried.
"Eddie, ¿estás bien?" Ramon asks
(Eddie, are you ok?)
"estoy bien, papá" Eddie answers
(I'm fine, dad)
"Ok, si estás seguro, nos vemos en la sala de estar cuando hayas terminado" Ramon says and walks away.
(ok, if you're sure, meet us in the living room when you're finished)
"How is he?" Helena asks her husband.
"He is nervous and over thinking things" Ramon says
"Just like you did when we had our first date" Helena reminds her husband
"I did no such thing" Ramon says but it's true the moment he saw his wife he knew she was his person.
"Whatever you say sweetheart" Helena gives her husband a kiss on the lips.
"Ok guys what do you think?" Eddie asks coming into the living room wearing a dark red suit and a black turtleneck.
"Honey, you look so handsome," Helena says, giving her son a huge hug.
"You look really good son," Ramon says, giving him a hug too.
"What do you think Chris does daddy look nice for his date with Bucky?" Eddie asks his little boy.
"My Daddy and My Bucky" Chris says with a smile on his face
"Well looks like you got the seal of approval" Helena says
Eddie is happy that Chris likes Buck and even though he is too young to understand what a date is Eddie doesn't want to hide anything from his son.
"Son, are you sure you're OK?" Ramon asks again.
"Not really I know that Buck has money and from what I can tell, he has lots of it so I'm just worried that he will expect to go to the most expensive restaurant and have the most expensive wine and I can't afford that" Eddie says
"Eddie yes Buck has money and he has made no secret about it and from the short time we have known him he is not that kind of person and he knows that you are a single father whose main priority is his son so who cares if you can't take him to the most expensive restaurant or buy the best wine they have it's not about the money it's about the person you are on a date with" Helena says.
"Thank you I know I am disappointing you guys with me being gay and I know you want Chris to have a mother" Eddie says
"Eddie do not ever think you are disappointing us because you are not the only way you could do that if you didn't be truthful with yourself and we don't care that you are gay and Chris needing a mum please he has the best dad there is and he has his Bucky so why does he need a mum" Helena says
At the mention of his Bucky Chris claps his hands and shouts "My Bucky, My Bucky"
Everyone laughs at him as they know he loves his Bucky and Ramon and Helena hope that Buck becomes his Papa but they will wait for Eddie to tell them.
The doorbell goes and Ramon gets up and goes to answer it.
"Come on let me fix your suit" Helena says making sure Eddie is well presented for his date.
Ramon walks in with Buck behind him and Eddie's breath is taken away by how absolutely stunning Buck is.
Buck's eyes land on Eddie and he can't believe how gorgeous he is in the dark red suit and black turtleneck.
"You look stunning" Buck says to Eddie
"I look stunning have you seen yourself" Eddie says back
They both laugh and that breaks the ice a little bit.
"Where are we going" Buck asks
Eddie was dreading this question and he hopes Buck likes the restaurant he chose.
"We are going to a place called Park Tavern," Eddie answers.
Eddie knows it's not the most expensive restaurant and it's mostly families that go there and the prices are affordable and he told Buck that he would pay for their date.
"Is that the restaurant we passed when we brought Chris back from the hospital?" Buck asks Ramon and Helena.
"It is indeed" Ramon answers
Ramon knew Buck would like the restaurant that Eddie was taken him to when his son told them that was the restaurant he picked.
"That's amazing when we passed it I got a feeling that it was more about the customers then the money that was spent there" Buck says
"So you don't mind that you won't be going to some fancy restaurant?" Eddie asks
"Eddie, is that what you thought I would want?" Buck asks
"Well yes I did. You have money and lots of it so I thought you would expect all the stops to be put out?" Eddie asks
"Eddie I'm not from money my parents are middle class and they are both first responders" Buck says
"I'm sorry I just thought you were born into money" Eddie says
"Eddie my dad is a firefighter and a Captain who runs a firehouse in L.A. my mum is a Police Sergeant so the money I have I made through investments when I was back in college and I'm not like all the other people who have money I like the simple things and I don't do expensive it makes my skin crawl. Buck says
After hearing that Eddie is more relaxed and he shouldn't have thought that about Buck he doesn't give off those kinds of vibes.
Both Buck and Eddie leave the house and head to the restaurant where they get a warm friendly greeting and once seated they only take a few minutes before they order and once their food arrives they start to talk and Buck tells Eddie more about himself.
Buck told Eddie that he was a savior baby born to save his big brother who was called Daniel and how he didn't managed to do it and how his sister treated him differently and she became cruel and dangerous and was always hurting him so his birth parents had to put him up for adoption so that he was safe.
Eddie couldn't believe what Buck was saying and that his own sister would do that but he is glad that he was able to get away and his birth parents must feel a lot of shame and heartache to lose their child due to leukemia but at least they don't blame Buck well Eddie hopes they don't.
After that Buck tells Eddie about his adopted parents and how they are his birth parents and he never wanted to find his biological mother and father as to him he already has two amazing parents and two annoying siblings.
Eddie and Buck talk about other things and the more they talk the more they fall in love with each other after their meal they go for a walk and they end up at Buck's hotel and Buck asks Eddie if he would like to come up to his room and and Eddie hesitates but Buck tells him that he doesn't want sex straight away as he is generally falling for him and Eddie tells Buck the same so they go up to Buck's room and they cuddle on the bed and watch a movie and they end up falling asleep cuddled up together.
The Next morning they both wake up and they talk about how they feel and agree to take it slow and see how things go.
Eddie walks back into his parents house and they are in the kitchen and Eddie walks in and sits down and he tells them how the date went and how he learned more about Buck and that they are taking things slow and that they are falling for each other.
Helena and Ramon are happy that the date went well for both Buck and Eddie and that they are taking it slow and they can't wait to see more of Buck around their house and they know Christopher is going to love having more time with his Bucky.
