Mission Debriefing

Maverick closed the folder then places on the desk in front of him.
“How the hell is my team and I supposed to fly this mission” he then looks dead straight into Cyclone’s eyes then continues.
“When I hardly know what the mission is about?!”
Now Maverick wasn’t exaggerating either, the ‘Information’ in the folder was a single (1) page. Reading:

Mission debrief
Team Dagger will depart at Base 17 and continue in till team reaches Enemies base of operations. From there Dagger 1 though 2 clears a path for Team A and reinforcements. Dagger 3though 5 will exterminate any and all Enemy escape routes. When mission is complete return to Base 17.

“This ‘information’ is telling me nothing. Not the enemy, not the terrain not even my allies. How an I meant to prep the team if I don’t know what We’re up against!”

”I mean who is my team? The kids outside can’t, they are too young they have a entire life ahead of them-“
” and you were younger when you did got into and graduated Top Gun. Maverick you have to understand that they are not kids, they are grown man and woman that are perfectly able to protect themselves. That is what they have trained there entire lives, what you’ve trained them to do these sort of mission and come home alive. It is your job to do it again.”
”Cyclone-“
”Maverick no matter what our opinions are about this mission you and for team WILL be flying it. Do you understand Captain”
Maverick mumbled a ‘yes sir’ then got up to leave.
“And Maverick don’t do anything stupid on this mission and get yourself killed.”
Maverick turned back around to face the Vice Admiral, showing his iconic smirk,
”I can’t promise that Admiral.”
