Season 1 Episode 11 - The Wrong Choice.
Sam and Dean were asleep when suddenly Dean's phone rang and Sam woke up.
Dean. Said Sam, but Dean didn't wake up, so Sam picked up the phone himself.
Hello? Asked Sam, as he suddenly snapped up.
Sam, is that you? Asked John.
Dad? Are you sick? Sam asked.
I'm fine. John answered.
We looked all over for you. We didn't know where you were, if you were alive. Said Sam.
Sammy, it's okay. How are you and Dean? John asked.
I'm good. Dad, where are you? Sam asked, at which point Dean started to wake up.
I'm sorry, son. I can't tell you. John answered.
How? Why not? Sam asked.
Dad? Dean asked.
Sam, I know this is hard to understand... Please trust me. John asked.
Did you track it? The thing that killed mom? Sam asked.
Yes. It's a demon, Sam. John answered.
A demon? Do you know for sure? Sam asked.
A demon? What are you talking about? Dean asked.
Right. Look, Sam, I... I know about what happened to Jessica. Such grief. I wanted so much to keep you safe. John answered.
Do you know where it is? Sam asked.
Yes, I think I've come across it. John answered.
We can help you. Sam said.
I don't think so. You don't belong here. John said.
But why not? Sam asked.
Give me the phone. Said Dean.
Sammy, that's why I'm calling. You and your brother don't have to look for me anymore. Now write down the following names. Said John.
Names? What names, Dad? Explain what's going on please. Sam asked.
Sam, now is not the time. It's more serious than you think, they're everywhere. Even talking to you and me puts us at risk. Said John.
No... That's not the way it works. Said Sam.
Give me the phone. Said Dean.
I gave you an order. Stop chasing me and do your job. Do you understand me? Now write down the names. Said John, at which point Dean snatched the phone from Sam.
Dad, it's me. Where are you? Dean asked, John said something to him on the phone.
That's right. Yeah, I'm writing it down. What are the names? Dean asked.
Thirty minutes later, everyone was gathered in the meeting room.
Besides the names, did he say anything? Colson asked.
As a matter of fact, no. Dean answered.
Okay, so where are we going? Barry asked.
Indiana, first name on Dad's list there. Dean answered, at which point Sam put his hand on Dean's shoulder.
What is it? Dean asked.
We're not going to Indiana. Sam answered.
Aren't we? Dean asked.
Yes. We're going to California. Sam answered. Your phone has detected the Sacramento area code. Sam continued.
Sam... Dean started talking.
Dean, the demon killed mom and Jessica, dad's out there, we need to be there for him. To help. Said Sam.
Dad doesn't want that. Said Dean.
And I don't care. Said Sam.
He gave the order. Said Dean.
And I don't care! Said Sam. You can't do what he says forever. Sam continued.
Sam, Dad gives us a mission, to save people. It's important. Said Dean.
Of course it is. I get it. Believe me, I get it, but it's just one week to get answers. To get revenge. Said Sam.
Sam, I know how you feel. Said Dean.
You do? Asked Sam, Dean looked at him in surprise.
When your mom died, you were four? And Jessica was killed eleven months ago. And you know how I feel? Sam asked.
Dad said it's dangerous. For all of us. Dean answered. He knows something we don't. And we're gonna do what he said. Dean continued.
Why you have this blind faith, I don't understand. You obey unconditionally. Said Sam.
Yeah, because I'm a good son. Said Dean, Sam left the hall going into the room to get his things, Dean stopped him. And you're a selfish bastard. You do what you want. And you don't give a damn about anybody else. Dean added.
Is that what you think? Sam asked.
I do. Dean answered.
Well... Selfish bastard, going to California. Said Sam, then started to walk away.
Sam, this isn't serious. Said Dean.
This is serious. Said Sam, then headed into the room to get his stuff, the whole team just listening to this conversation.
And I thought we had a complicated relationship. Said Ward.
Fifteen minutes later.
Sam started walking towards the exit, Barry met him on the way out.
Going somewhere? Asked Barry.
Barry, dad needs me, it's now or never. Said Sam.
Sam, you forget you're a target for the demons, once you're off the boat, they'll have you in their sights. Said Barry.
Come with me. Sam suggested.
First of all, I'm a target, like you, so my being here won't help. And secondly, I'm needed here. Said Barry.
I'm sorry, but my war is not here, it's where my father is, I have to find him and help him. Said Sam.
Is that your choice? Asked Barry.
Yes. Answered Sam.
If you decide something I can't change your mind, but can I give you some advice? Barry asked.
Sure. Sam answered.
Don't live for revenge, it's a road to ruin. Barry said and then went to his room.
Sam left the plane and went to California on his own.
