A Very Exciting Park
Scarlet's POV, January 2nd
After having lunch and doing some shopping is was finally time for the BIG REVEAL. Just kidding. I'm pretty sure me and Lizzie are the big reveal, not the manchild couple.
Me and Lizzie decided that the best place to take Quin to meet the guys would be a) outdoors, and b) free of people and paparazzi. And that's how we decided on a very empty looking park in the area that we had driven past on our way to pick her up. There was a playground and a big field. This place was literally deserted, I mean it was January in Seattle so I don't blame people.
We told the guys to bring some fun stuff to do with Quin and I'm kinda nervous. I know Robert literally has kids and Evans is a kid, but Quin is...I don't know. Something (or someone) special I guess.
As we pulled up I spotted the two standing off to one side of the playground near the field. Robert had a giant plastic rolling cooler full of who knows what and Evans was just standing there in a t-shirt.
"Hey guys," I called out as we got out of the car, "We got someone we want you to meet."
I started walking towards them and Lizzie and Quin followed. Robert and Chris pulled both me and Lizzie into a hug before kneeling down to introduce themselves to Quin.
"Hey, I'm Chris. You can call me Chris, or Evans, or maybe you'll come up with a new more creative name. It's nice to meet you," Evans said putting his hand out for Quin to shake.
"I'm Quintessence," Quin said as she shook Chris' hand, "You can call me Quin or Tess or some other nickname you think of I suppose," she continued, turning to look at me as she said the last part.
"Seriously Peanut?!" I said, "Also you gave him way more options than you gave me!"
"Ha! I like this one!" Robert chimed in as Lizzie and Chris laughed.
"Anyways, I'm Robert. You probably know who I am," Robert continued as he stuck out his hand for Quin to shake, "It's very nice to meet you Peanut."
Unlike with Chris, Quin didn't shake Robert's hand. Instead she crossed her arms and shook her head.
"Nope. Unfortunately for you Mr. Downey that nickname is exclusively reserved for Scarlett...and Lizzie, maybe," Quin said.
Oh my God! This kid is gonna give Robert a run for his money. Is it possible that she might've just outsassed The Robert Downey Junior!
Robert put his hand down and feigned being hurt.
"What is this? Favoritism?!" Robert said.
"Yup!" Quin said with a cheeky smile before running off the the playground.
"Yikes, that one's gotta sting," Chris said, patting Robert on the shoulder, "Welp, see ya!" he called out before chasing after Quin, leaving the three of us speechless.
Finally after a stretch of silence of us just watching Evans getting tangled up in a rope climbing pyramid Robert said, "I like her. She's good."
Lizzie smiled, "Yeah, she is," she paused before turning to look at Downey, "And she was way nicer to us when we met."
I laughed, "That's true."
After watching Evans hit his head on a part of the playground for like the millionth time (and watching Quin laugh at him for the billionth time) the two of them finally came running back over to us. Chris looked seriously winded and Quin just looked more energized than ever.
"So," she said, "What's in the cooler?"
"Well, child," Robert started as he began to open the cooler, "I guess you're going to find out."
Inside the cooler was every outdoor toy a kid would ever use, plus a smaller cooler with drinks and snacks.
"Oh my God!" Lizzie said.
"Robert what did you do?" I asked.
"You said bring stuff she might like to do at a park."
"Yeah, some stuff! Not the whole goddamn store!"
Chris took a deep breath, still winded, before calling out, "Language! There's a child here!" In a very breathless voice.
"So kid," Robert said as he turned to Quin, "Ignoring no fun Johansson over there, you see anything you like in here?"
Quin moved over to look in the cooler and pulled out 2 baseball gloves (one child sized and the other adult sized) and a baseball bat.
"Ahh a baseball fan," Robot said with a smile, "So who's the best team kid?"
I watched as a smirk came across Quin's face before she finally said, "The Red Sox."
"Ha! Suck it Downey!" Chris called out after finally regaining his breath. He then proceeded to pick Quin up and run a victory lap around me and Lizzie.
"Put me down Evans, or I swear to God you're not going to be able to walk for a solid ten minutes!" Quin called out.
And hilariously, Evans dropped Quin without hesitation and with a look of genuine fear.
"You know," he said, putting his hands up in surrender, "I don't doubt it."
Now me and Lizzie were basically rolling on the ground laughing and Robert was just staring at them in disbelief.
"Hey," Quin said as she started to walk over to Downey, "Don't give me that look. You gotta do what you gotta do," she continued and she took both gloves out of Downey's hands, throwing one of them to Chris. "You're batting."
Okay, now when I say Quin is good at baseball, I mean she is GOOD at baseball. The entire time she was pitching Robert did nothing but strike out. And the look on Roberts face, PRICELESS. After a while Robert got another adult glove out of the oversized cooler and Quin went up to bat. And surprise, surprise, he didn't win. He couldn't strike her out and he couldn't get a hit off her. This kid is good. Meanwhile Evans just looked confused as caught the pitches. Eventually we all played a bit of baseball before we decided we'd had enough of the park.
"So," Lizzie said, "What should we do now?"
"I have an idea," Robert said, "So kid, who do you wanna ride with? Those two, or the really cool and fun uncles?"
Quin looked at me and Lizzie and then Robert and Chris.
"You guys," Quin said, pointing to Downey and Evans.
"Yes!" Chris yelled in celebration. God, children, both of them.
"One point for the guys, and zero for the gals," Robert said before picking Quin up and carrying her to the car, Chris following them, pulling the cooler behind him.
I gave Lizzie a look and then we both burst out laughing.
"Just follow us!" Robert called out as he continued walking to the car.
"Oh god!" I said, "Quin and Robert are going to be..."
"Insufferable?" Lizzie asked with a smile, "And Evans and Quin are going to be..."
"Trouble," we both said as we started walking back to the car.
