The Front Lines: Second Wave Season 01 Episode 04

We see a strange metal clump that had been pulsing sending out strange robots to attack the Plumbers that had been investigating the landing of an unidentified object and Rook Blonko had been speaking into his badge stating "This is Magister Rook Blonko requesting backup from the P.H.D. I repeat, requesting backup." 

"Sounds like Rook could use some help." Ben stated to them as they were on the way using a Javelin to get there. 

"So, what do you say we give it to him?" Lok questioned from the seat next to Ben on the opposite side of the Javelin. 

"Oh we'll give it to them alright, after all there's strength in numbers." Wonder Woman stated from the controls of the Javelin looking over her shoulder at the other heroes that were along for the ride. 

We also see that there were other heroes flying outside of the jet including the Fright Knight and Raven, along with some heroes on the ground as well including Danny Phantom on his Hellcycle and they'd gone off to battle the machines that'd been attacking.

Albedo had unfastened his seatbelt and walked over to the drop hatch and says to them "I've got an idea of how to slow them down, drop me off here and hold back for a bit." 

They'd opened the hatch that Albedo had been standing on and he'd called out "Here goes nothing, Artic-Wing!" and hit the two Biomnitrix bands together. 

He'd changed into a very large alien that looked like a fusion of Thunder Wing and Articguana creating booming thunder as he'd flapped his wings and flown over to where the thing had landed. He'd flown over to the plumbers and put his wing on the thing with them running across to his back and blasted the metal things that were trying to follow. Artic-Wing had then flown and put down the Plumbers away from the battle before flying up and some clouds appeared overhead. 

He'd continued to flap his wings and let out an ear piercing cry as he'd flown around the area and the clouds had started causing hail to drop down and he'd began flying around in circles blasting at the machines from a large beam of ice from his mouth freezing it in place as he'd created a funnel cloud that'd caused them to be swept away in a tornado with the hail from the cloud pelting anything and anything that got close. 

"Maybe that toy of his can be useful after all.." Ben stated watching all of this going down and when the storm had subsided the whole thing was encased in ice. 

They'd landed the Javelin next to it and gotten out to check if everything was alright, but that happened to be a bad idea. Turns out those things had been sent underground and had dug upwards swarming the ship and everyone had to fight to get away from them busting the machines apart as they'd done so and began to move away. 

Meanwhile Rook had been stating "We are evacuating Gold hanger, but I fear that we may not be able to get everyone out in time." 

"Not to worry, the Watchtower is now in stationary orbit over the sight and I'm clearing the Binary Fusion Generator for firing." J'onn J'onzz stated having been on the feed "We can't attack the enemy directly for fear of scattering them but we should be able to buy you guys some time with it to get through evacuation." 

The bottom of the watchtower had opened up and blasted downwards at the ground and dug a massive trench between everyone and the invading forces to give them some time to evacuate the civilians from what's happening. 

We then see Martian Manhunter looking at a screen that showed 59 minutes until power rebuild on the screen and he sighs stating "An hour until we find out if it worked or not." 

Back down with the others Ben had been standing at the edge of the trench and says "That'll buy a little time, Gear, give me a scan of these things." 

"On it!" Gear called out and had flown over the machines with Backpack's lens piece moving around and then he'd flown back over running over the data. "Judging by the x-ray Schematics it seems that the larger craft is self replicating, there's some sort of main component that is building around itself, sorta like a dark heart of sorts." 

"Then we're gonna need a bit more help. Danny, your Hellcycle is the fastest way to get there without tiring out anyone. Go on to Boston and ask for Professor Ray Palmer Bring him back, we'll need his help for this one." Ben then spoke telling Danny to go get another person. 

"On it!" Danny spoke and rode off through the air on the Hellcycle to go off to get the professor to help them out. 

We then see a guy in a red and blue suit laying on top of some weird looking worm or possibly snake thing as a woman says "You have uh, company Professor. Serious company." 

"Alright I'm coming up." The guy stated and twisted a dial on his belt buckle as energy bands wrapped around him and he'd began to grow larger. 

The man had grown large enough that we see he'd actually been in a dish that was under a microscope and walked to jump off of the table growing in size until he'd gotten to be a bit taller than Danny Phantom who was there in front of them. 

"Professor Ray Palmer, what brings world famous Danny Phantom to my office?" He'd questioned meeting the hero in front of him. 

"A possible Omega level threat." Danny answered back as the two of them were shaking hands and then let go. 

Professor Palmer looked at his assistant and says "Kitty, please inform the front office that I'm going to be out for awhile." 

We then cut to Danny using the Hell Cycle to get them back to the others as Professor Palmer states "Some odd years ago a scientist imagines that self replicating robots would be how we explore the universe. Send one out and it makes another ten wherever it lands, and then each one of those makes another ten to go out and so on and so forth." 

"I think we've got one of those in Nevada." Danny stated as they'd continued back towards the others. 

"Then we're looking at the big nightmare of Nano Technology, a machine that can make clones out of anything." Palmer stated back as they'd continued towards where they were going. 

"Danny I need an E.T.A. stat!" Ben spoke into his com demanding to know just when they'd get back. 

"Soon, how's the trench holding up?" The half ghost hero answered back as they'd raced forwards to get there in a hurry. 

"What trench?" Was the question they got back as we see Ben and the others were now fighting with the machines as they'd finally broken through the ice and filled the trench that'd been left around them with everyone continuing to fight. 

Finally they'd made it back to Ben alongside Wonder Woman, Lok, and Albedo, with Danny stating "Alright, explain it to them." 

"These machines are self replicating, they build copies of themselves using whatever material is around. They'll go from coast to coast and then across the sea bed using everything they can find, plants, metals, plastics, rocks, even people in an endless wave until nothing is left." Ray stated to them all about what's going on with these things. 

"So how do we stop it?" Wonder Woman questions just how they could finally destroy this thing. 

"You'll have to get to the core control and take it out, but you have to understand that making metal out of rock is a microscopic process. This means the core is issuing instructions at an atomic scale you can't simply smash up a machine the size of an infection." He'd answered back about how to deal with it. "If you leave even a crumb of it intact it'll start all over again you need to get me to the main core I'll have to go inside and reprogram it." 

"Not without backup, I'll go in alongside Atom. We'll need a path cleared so that we can get inside." Albedo stated saying he was gonna go along with him. 

"You need a path cleared no problem. EVERYONE STAND BACK!" Lok then stated before yelling out towards the other heroes that were fighting and so they'd done as he said while he held up a strange ring with a blue gem and called out "AWAKEN LEGENDARY TITAN OF SUMMONS QUETZALCOATL!" 

From the ring appeared a colossal sized titan that had looked like a blue feathered serpent with feathered wings and a golden headdress that had red ribbons dangling from it then appeared letting out a powerful screech with everyone looking surprised by the thing. 

"Quetzalcoatl, I need you to clear a path for us!" Lok then called out to the titan and it had nodded and let out another screech and changed itself into electricity and flown down zapping one of the bots and then created a chain reaction zapping and destroying all of them and clearing a path though the machines had started rebuilding at the end of that. 

"C'mon we gotta get them in fast!" Lok spoke as they'd all raced forwards to go and handle the main threat. 

They'd ran over towards the main machine and Palmer began to shrink down more while Albedo called out "Nano-Weevil!" and slapped the bands on his arms together changing into a cross between Ball Weevil and Nanomech and shrinking down to follow after him. 

The two had slid down inside of it with Nano-Weevil tapping the Biomnitrix symbol stating "Alright we're in, but things are a bit more complicated down here than expected, keep holding them off until we can stop this thing."

The two went off and found the heart of this thing and Ray had been checking the information on that thing as some of it began to move and Nano-Weevil spat out balls of goop kicking them into the tendrils and breaking them. "Just shut it down already, Autopsy later!" He'd called out to the professor and then fired a blast of energy from between the two tips atop his horn. 

"Right." The professor spoke with a nod and got to work discovering the main core of the machine and tried to punch it but it had no effect. "No good, I can't bust it." 

Nano-Weevil spat out some goop and jumped on top of it rolling the ball around all the various broken pieces around and called "Just break more stuff." 

Palmer began breaking the machine's metals apart with Nano-Weevil picking it up with his goop and the ball was getting bigger and bigger as they'd done so. 

"Gang way, time to go!" Nan-Weevil then called out kicking the goop ball at the main core and making it wrap around and pick up it too and the two had began to try to escape as he'd turned back and blasted at the orb causing it to blow along with the core and they'd sped off to escape fast. 

Outside the thing it'd started to burst apart spewing liquids everywhere as all the other machines died in the process and Ray had appeared from one of the streams growing back to normal size and then a green flash had appeared beside him with Albedo having returned to normal. "Let's never do that again." the latter had sighed leaning against the machine. 

"Agreed." Professor Palmer stated in response while coughing from everything that happened to them during the escape. "That was disgusting."
