police

You didn't have faith in anything your country had, especially the police force. So it was ironic when you decided to join it, shocking everyone with the news of your job.

"I'm so proud of you, my little girl!" "Dad." You hissed, trying to pull away from your father, ignoring the way he sniffled. "Just..proud. I'm so proud you're followin' in the steps of your old man! You've made me so bloody proud!"

Your best friend wasn't as supportive, knowing how you viewed the government and the police. "I'm not sure, [Y/N]. If this is a good idea. You'll.." "Calm down. I know what I stand for, okay? I just wanna make a change. I wanna help people, and..I want to show that the police can still do that." They only frowned in response, staring into your eyes before giving you a hug. "Okay."

Two weeks in and it had already gotten to your head. You were currently sitting down, drinking a cup of coffee as you tried to wrap your head around today's events. Spider-Man had decided to kill the Prime Minister today, lucky for you! It wasn't easy getting him into custody, as always, especially since a big protest was happening at the time, but you managed. Now, you sat in the interrogation room with him, rubbing underneath your eyes as you placed down your mug. It felt like a waste of time to be professional with him, especially since he kept acting like a wanker. "It's been smashin' but I gotta get goin'. Got better things to do than talk to a pig." He stands up suddenly, taking you by surprise, and you try to follow. "Spider-Man! Hey, w-" Web trapped you to the wall, your back aching with how much force you had gotten just from the webs sticking you against the wall, making you groan out in pain.

Two weeks in and you already let the Spider-Man get away with murdering the Prime Minister. Most of the team was already on your ass about it, refusing to even let you see what new crimes they had picked up, which wasn't what you had in mind when you signed up. Now, you sat at home, questioning the badge in your hand. It felt like a token rather than a sign of someone trustworthy, it made you feel sick to your stomach.

"Hands in the air, Spider-Man!" Today was the day that you'd catch him, the man who ruined your chance at being taken seriously as an officer. He only put his hands up when he heard the cock of your gun, making no efforts to hide his grin, mask pulled up to his nose. "Finally got me, pig?" He had no hesitation in his voice as he started to tease you again, obviously trying to rile you up so you'd forget your duties and chase him as if he was another thief. "Just come to us nice and slow, Spider-Man. No one has to get hurt!" One of your coworkers said, panic clear in their voice as they held the gun. It seemed that threatening violence was the answer, managing to even get him to come close to the cop car, before he started slinging webs left and right, encasing your team in webs. In a fit of panic, you tried to shoot at the webs that he used to swing from building to building, but your heart only beat faster as you shot him dead in the leg.

Three weeks in, and you've already injured someone on the job. You were sat in the pub, contemplating your spontaneous career choice. Your friends looked at you differently now, your status now a woman under the law, something they weren't used to when it came to you. It was obvious you were upset, most of the patrons deliberately avoided you as you 'enjoyed' your drink of beer, trying to ignore the taste of it. "Hey, Igor! Anotha round for us." You turned at the sound, already bothered with how loud it'd been. The person who shouted seemed to have noticed your glare, practically separating from their group to stand next to you, leaning on the bar. "Ain't seen you 'round here before. You new?" "Yeah." "'Ere you are." "Cheers, mate." He passes you one of the drinks he received, taking one for himself and taking a sip of it before looking back at you. "My name's Hobie. Hobie Brown."

Four weeks in, and you've already started to hang out with Hobie Brown. He's become one of your many friends, fitting right in with your friends who claim that anarchy would be a better system for all and have suggested stomping on the government one too many times. The opposite could be said for you and Spider-Man, though, as you've grown tired of chasing him. Today was another one of those days where your feet were aching just looking for the damn wanker, hands on your knees as you let out a breath, watching as he didn't even break out in a sweat as he webbed to a balcony.

It was too much for you, this wasn't what your job was about! "He's too much." You told Hobie, staring blankly at your TV. "Spider-Man. He's just so fuckin'-" You let out an exhausted sigh and drop into his lap, looking up at him with a grin. "He reminds me of you, but more..annoying, and less tolerable." "Wow, so flatterin'."

"Hobie..?" A month in, and you've discovered your friend is Spider-Man. for most, that would be swell, fine even, but you're staring at the man who's ruined your career and murdered the Prime Minister not too long ago. You stare as he pushes his mask back down, leaning onto the brick wall you encountered him at. "..Who's that?" You can practically see his smile, watching as he crosses his arms and looks at you with squinted eyes. "You feelin' okay? Get enough rest, yeah?" "Why didn't you tell me sooner?" You ask, and he looks away. "'Cause it'd end like this." "What?" "You'd stop bein' my best mate. Take me into custody or somethin'." He mumbles, and you take a moment to stare at him. This was Hobie, the man you knew for almost two weeks, and then he was Spider-Man, the wanker who ruined your career. You watched as he took in a breath, awaiting an answer from you.

Two months in, and you sat side to side with your best friend, Hobie Brown. You had little to worry about, leaving the force and joining Hobie in one of his many protests.
