Chapter 1
Something is wrong with Kara and Lena is the only one that sees it.
Kara has been acting weird as of late. Lena had asked Alex, but she said that she didn’t notice anything wrong. nothing out of the ordinary for Kara at least. Worried for her friend Lena tries to reach out, but Kara just pushes them away. Time and time again, Lena calls and Kara doesn't pick up. She would rush out when Lena showed up at her work, she would make excuses whenever they had something planned. Kara didn’t show up to a few game nights and had cancelled when it fell on her place. When anyone comes to the door, Kara isn't there or doesn't answer, she wouldn’t let anyone in to her apartment and Lena was starting to feel abandoned and getting more and more worried as time went by.
Kara on the other hand, felt frightened, she had been getting nightmares and her powers were out of her control. She had burned a hole through her ceiling while staring at a spot as she thought of a few things. Kara had pulled herself away from others to not hurt them as she lost control even more everyday. She didn’t want to risk her powers flaring up and she ends up hurting her friends or worse.
Worse.
That is the one that bothers her the most. Kara wouldn't be able to live with herself if that were to happen. She stopped seeing them, stopped going to game nights. She would fly out for Supergirl duties, but she would leave before anyone could talk to her. Alex have been calling and showing up at her apartment. Lena was doing the same. Alex had texted her to open up or she will kick it down.
Kara would just leave the apartment whenever Alex came by, she had a key and had come in a few times. The last time Alex had come over, Kara could hear the gasp when Alex saw her place. Kara was on the roof hiding. Alex left a note on her counter saying that Kara needs to come in to the DEO so she could explain to Alex what was going on. Kara didn't. She couldn't risk that. Couldn't risk hurting Alex or anyone else from the DEO.
Kara avoided Eliza when she came to visit them for thanksgiving that year. Lena had offered that Eliza stay with her since Alex didn’t have the space and Kara was currently out. Lena was on her way to check in on Kara, like she had done countless times the past few weeks, when she found Eliza standing in front of the door calling Kara on the phone and banging on the door. Kara was nowhere in sight. Eliza went with Lena much to Kara’s relief, as Kara hid in her bathroom, covering her ears to not hear the heart beat of her adopted mother.
Supergirl had to fight a monster and her ass was handed to her a few times as she got worse. She felt sick, weak, but still refused to go see Alex. Kara won the overall fight with a few bad injuries, Alex had rushed in to stop her from leaving, but Kara was gone in a blink of an eye. Whenever Alex was able to get close, Kara turned her back on Alex, faked hearing someone in need and then rushed off with tears in her eyes.
Now floating above the clouds trying to meditate and center herself. Kara couldn’t help the tears. She hadn’t slept in over three weeks, only getting a few hours a night before screaming herself awake, her heat vision blasting everything around her. Worry had her stomach in knots and she wasn’t able to eat. She went to work, but the moment her powers wanted to slip she left under pretends of following a story or dodging everyone all together by hiding on the roof of the building. When she was losing control she would rush home and locked herself away from the world.
She felt . . .
Something that wasn’t good.
Kara was never sick before so she doesn't have a reference to compare it to. She felt weird and not so good and that didn’t make her want to feel good either. she didn't want to feel like this, but she also didn't want to get better. She wasn’t frustrated or irritated or even agitated. Just, something in between them all. She didn’t know what was happening to her and she didn’t know how to stop it from happening. She felt hot and cold at the same time. Vision was weird. it looked like she was looking through thick ice with red-ish water on the sides, everything around her was almost swimming along, yet stood still at the same time. she felt dizzy like the time she got drunk for the first time.
Kara wasn't feeling well, she felt thin, skinny even. She was so tired, barely able to keep herself floating like she is right now. Her mind felt heavy and her conciseness would waver a few times. Kara blinked her heavy eye lids a few times before she couldn’t open them again.
Lena was pulled from her work when her phone went off. The news was covering Supergirl’s earlier fight and it had been running all day. After a few seconds the feed cut out and a video of Supergirl falling from the sky was ongoing. Lena jumped to her feet in shock. Lena had figured out that Kara was Supergirl while Eliza was living with her. they had been watching the news and Eliza made an off hand comment of 'That child of mine needs to take better care of herself' Lena wasn't supposed to hear her, but when she went to bed, things started to click into place. Supergirl and Kara was the same person, Lena felt betrayed, but at the same time, she completely understood why Kara would keep it from her. She had confronted Alex and told her that she knew, Lena demanded to know what the hell was going on with Kara, just to find out that Alex was in the same boat as she was. Sam even moved in with her to help her keep it together.
Lena grabbed her phone and called Alex.
Alex was already on her way when Lena called. being the first to get the notifications and rushing out without waiting for orders. J’ohn was flying up to meet Kara half way and stop her decent as much as he could. They all just hope that he will get there in time.
