As soon as Nikki walked through the portal she felt herself fall to the ground, slamming into the cold hard floor, she looked up and saw Gwen “So, I’m guessing your gonna be apart of it?”
“Well duh, what else d’you thin-“
“Oh! Kate!” Mr Stacy walked in, extending his hand to Nikki, smiling as she shook it.
“H-Hey, Mr Stacy! Sorry, I just swung by town and thought I’d pop Gwen a visit..”
“Nikki, he knows, by the way.”
“Know what?” He asked
“The spiderman thing, dad.”
“Are you saying?”
“Yes, she isn’t Kate bishop or whatever name we made up, her names Nikki, and she’s SpiderShock, like spiderwoman, but from her universe, Earth 29 to be exact.”
“So all those times she visited…?”
“Yeah.. I sorta kinda just popped in through a portal, Hobbie always hated the fact that you had to only use the watch for jobs, so he brought me here..”
“Who’s Hobbie?”
“Long, very long, story, dad..”
“Oh, right, I’ll uhm… leave you too it then..” he smiled again and slowly closed the door
“So, you came out to your dad? Sweet.”
“You still haven’t to your mom?”
“She’d hold me at gunpoint and interrogate me, she’s just as much of a mom as she is a Co-“
She heard a chime from her phone, she opened it to see a text from Gwen
‘G<3 : Ur mom asks where you are, what I saying?’
Nikki hurriedly texted back
‘Nikki :P : School trip, gonna be gone for a while, remind her abt the papers she signed two days ago, love u <3’
She sighed as she just saw ‘read’ pop up, she looked at Gwen
“Soooo.. you’re sure you wanna help me? If you want you can go, I won’t blame you.”
“No.. it’s too late now anyways, I’ll do it.”
Gwen smiled “Great! I’ll introduce you to everyone!’
Nikki nodded as she saw another portal open
Gwen stopped for a moment “Quick Question, your acting really.. Nikki-y, you turn off the chip or something?” She asked nonchalantly, clearly joking somewhat
“Yup.”
“Nikki, you’re kidding..”
“No.. it’s better if it’s actually me fighting, rather than… that thing.”
“You could die! Literally! Isn’t it the only reason your heart keeps working?”
“Well it’s more complicated than that but yeah…”
“I don’t want you dying on me!”
“I won’t, I think, I mean I’m checking my vitals and they look alright, besides, I’ll turn it on if I need too..”
Gwen sighed “Promise?” She held out her fist
Nikki smiled and gave her the fistbumb “Promise.” And like that, they were off
Nikki stumbled through the portal, coughing a bit
“You okay?” Gwen asked
“Ye-Yeah, portal just makes me a little queasy..”
Gwen eyerolled “Well…” she seemingly sent out a ping, as Nikki’s watch beeped and lit up
“They should be on their way in a minute..” she said, sighing
In mere moments, Nikki watched as spider person after spider person arrived on the narrow platform
“Okay so, this is Pav..” ‘Pav’ smiled, waving a little
“But you already know that, duh.”
She pointed to a … robot of some sort “Peni.” The robot waved, Nikki meekly waved back
“Noir.” The black and white spider silently tipped his hat
“SpiderHam..” she pointed downwards, to a small pig fitted with the outfit, he extended his hand yet she moved back a little “I-Uhm, I’m alright.” She smiled, the pig looking slightly disappointed but drawing his hand back
“Byte.” Spider-Byte fistbumbed Nikki, a silent form of acknowledgment
Gwen gestured to Hobbie “As you know, Hobbie.”
Nikki raised her head slightly at him, him doing the same “Ay, How you doing, Mate?”
“Alright, thanks.” She smiled
“And finally, Peter.” Gwen pointed to Peter, just as she described him, brown hair, hazel eyes, Nikki smiled “Heard a lot about you dude, nice to meet you”
Peter nodded “Same about you.”
Nikki turned to Gwen “So, bringing back Miles, anything else I gotta know about?”
“You told him about Canon?” Peter asked, Gwen darted a look at him
“What’s canon?” Nikki asked
“It’s .. complicated, but it’s what Miles is trying to break it, and that’s what risks everything, and I mean everything.”
“And that’s why Miguel’s hunting him?”
“Pretty much..”
“And so what, we just try and stop him from breaking him? Does that not, yknow, help Miguel?”
“I… I haven’t fully figured out what we’re doing yet, but we’re helping him.”
“Should we not, I don’t know, find him?”
Gwen nodded, Byte butting in
“Uhm, actually.. I know where he is, Earth 42, same one as where the spider came from.”
Gwen frowned “We can’t even.. talk to him yet, we’re low on numbers, I mean there’s like nine of us and like two hundred of them, we need more people
Nikki smiled “I know a girl..”
Gwen raised a eyebrow
“We met during the accidental portal thing, she’s actually pretty cool.”
“You think she’ll be down?”
“Pretty sure, I mean, I hope so..”
“What Earth?”
“Earth 48.”
Gwen sighed “wait, you’re sure?”
“Sure as I’ll ever be..”
Gwen nodded “Go for it.” She smiled
Nikki silently walked from one end of the Platform to another, looking at each of her new friends
Hobbie fistbumbed Nikki “You got this, N.”
“Thanks Hobbie, see you guys in a minute.” She smiled and put on her mask, falling off the platform right into the portal..
