Chapter One
Earth 1218
Year: 2013
Dawn felt the cool crisp morning air flow past her shot wavy locks that was obscured by a Spider-Man beanie as she rode her bike down the streets of New York. It was only around eight a.m. so the streets and sidewalk weren't packed, meaning she wouldn't get yelled at or judged for riding her bike on the sidewalk.
Her book bag sat in the basket attached to her handles, her legs pushing her to ride faster down the sidewalk so she wouldn't be late to work. A smile made its way to her lips as she continued her journey, watching as people began to drive their vehicles down the road.
As she continued down the sidewalk, she finally made it to the shop she worked at, parking her bike outside and locking it tightly. She looked up at the floral shop and walked in, the bell ringing above the doorway. A slightly older man than Dawn looked up, his glasses resting on nose as he was reading one of the comics Dawn had let him borrow.
"Hey Petey," Dawn waved towards the man. His name was Pete Barker and he was Dawn's best friend since they were children. Pete groaned at the nickname.
"Dawn, I've already told you to stop calling me that," Pete said as she walked towards him, dropping her bag down behind the counter.
"Nah, Petey suits you," she ginned up at the man, he merely frowned at her, though his heart couldn't stop from stuttering at the way she smiled up at him. She turned towards the cash register, watching as her best friend walked around the counter and towards the door and turned the closed sign to open. Thus began their job in selling bouquets, fertilizer, cards, etc.
The day went on boringly, Dawn leaned against her hand on the counter, watching as some of their customers looked through items they would be getting a family member or for a friend. Pete had been sweeping and organizing the items that were in their shop.
She sighed, wishing something would happen, something exciting, but stuff like that only happens in the comic books and movies. A man came towards the counter, his hood up as Dawn paid him no mind, her fingers going to the cash register in front of her to ring up his order, though, when she looked back up at him, her tired smile fading into a frown when she saw the end of a barrel of a gun.
"Give me all of the money in the register, and then everything you have on you," the man hissed. Dawn wasn't really phased, sure this was a bit much, considering this is a flower shop, and they didn't have much here.
"Are you seriously robbing a flower shop?" Dawn raised a brow, catching the man off guard as his masked face seemed to contort into confusion. The confusion then turned to anger as he pressed the barrel to her forehead. Pete stood on the other end of the shop, watching the scene with fear as he watched his best friend.
"I'm not asking you, I'm telling you, give me everything you have!" He exclaimed. Dawn pretended to think about it, before shaking her head.
"Nuh-uh," she spoke, the man looked at her in irritation.
"The fuck you mean "nuh-uh"? Don't you see the gun?" He asked. Dawn looked past him, noticing that Pete had been slowly walking up behind the man. All she needed to do was distract him.
"Yeah, I see it," she shrugged, "just not worried." She smiled at him.
"Bitch, don't play with me," he glared, his finger now on the trigger, ready to pull it. Dawn could feel her anxiety spike, but ignored it when she realized Pete was almost there.
"I'm not," she raised her hands with a nervous smile, "I'm just saying, if you had plot armor, this probably wouldn't hurt," Dawn spoke causing the man to lower his gun a bit in confusion, wondering what she meant by that. Pete wrapped his arms around the man's neck, causing the man to drop the gun in surprise. Dawn grabbed it, watching as the man clawed at Pete's arms trying to get free. Pete took them to the ground as he struggled.
"Yeah, don't fight dude," Pete spoke as the man slowly went unconscious in his arms. The dirty blonde dropped the man on the ground and stood up as Dawn climbed over the counter, her hand still holding the gun. She looked up at her friend and grinned.
"That was exciting!" She exclaimed happily. Pete side-eyed her, before rolling his blue optics. It may not have been what she wanted to happen today, but she has to admit, it was quite fun taking the personality of a Spider-Person.
