When I See You
Bucky's Pov
Bucky was stressed to say the very least. Today he was gonna tell Sam about the bet and just pray that Sam didn’t hate him forever. Bucky turned the corner to Sam's house to find Sam on his porch staring at the sky.
“Whatcha looking at Samuel” Bucky asks quietly sitting next to Sam on the porch
“I think there's a falcon nest up in that tree. I can hear the baby falcons chirping” Sam said, angling Bucky's head so that he could see the nest too. “Falcons are my favorites and then there's blue jays and then finches.” Bucky watched Sam talk animatedly about birds and their quirks and whats funny about them. In that moment Sam looked so happy and blissful. He knew the second that he told Sam about the bet all of this would go away. He couldn’t tell Sam about the bet. Not now at least not while Sam was so happy. “I’m sorry” Sam continued “I could talk about birds all day, you had something important you wanted to talk about”
“Oh yeah” Bucky stuttered, racking his brain for anything to talk about that wasn't the bet. He just couldn't. “I wanted to talk about the thing that happened at the senior center’
“I’m so sorry about that. Really I am I promise I didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable…I just. I’m sorry I should've asked before I-” Sam rambled.
“Sam. Its okay I’m not mad at you I swear.” Bucky said, grabbing Sam’s hand and intertwining their fingers together.
“Oh okay good good still I’m really so sorry. What did you want to talk about then” Sam asked eyebrows raised
“Us”
“Oh.”
“I wanted to know if you wanted to be my boyfriend” Bucky sputtered before quickly turning to face Sam before he lost his nerve. “I really like you a lot. I like the way your nose scrunches up when you hear something you don't like. And the way you are always willing to help people no matter what. I like the way you have different smiles for different occasions and I really like the smile you have for when you understand a chemistry assignment. Im rambling now but I said all this to say I really like you Sam” Bucky was kicking himself internally. He was supposed to tell him about the bet not ask him out. The situation just kept getting more and more out of control.
“Yes” Sam said, unable to contain the smile spreading across his face.”I would love to be your boyfriend.”
“Great.” Bucky grinned as well “Can I kiss you now” Bucky murmured leaning in waiting for a nod from Sam before gently pressing his lips to Sam’s.
MESSAGE TO: THE BIG THREE
Bucky: did a thing
Nat: you’re always doing things, is this a good thing?
Bucky: Depends who you ask because me and my boyfriend think its great
Steve: BOYFRIEND?????? Sams more forgiving than I thought.
Nat: Or dumber idk.
Bucky: He’s not dumb
Bucky: and technically……..
Nat: James.
Steve: You didn’t tell him???
Nat: So james quick little query what are you gonna do when one of the members of the football team lets it slip that you and Sam started dating as a joke. Seeing as half of them were there when you made the bet and the rest of them heard it around. Or even better what will you do when Tony ,who’s dating Sam’s BEST FRIEND, lets it slip to his boyfriend that you started talking to him as a bet then what?
Bucky: I didn’t start talking to Sam for a bet.
Bucky: And Tony swore to secrecy.
Steve: Thats what it looks like
Nat: And tony's a very chatty drunk. You have to tell him.
Bucky: I will
Nat: When
Bucky: When we’re married with 2 kids and a dog
Steve: funny.
