Lunch and opinions
Hobie, Pavitr, and Wendy are hanging out in one of the small lounge areas. It was closed off and no one could hear what they were talking about. Hobie and Pavitr were sitting at the table eating while Wendy had stuck herself to the ceiling and was reading a book.
It was silent so far, but there had been something on Pavitr’s mind he had to get out.
Pavitr: Wendy, what do you think about the whole Miles situation? Do you think Miguel is really thinking this through?
Wendy was so shocked by the question she dropped her book. It landed with a thud on the table below. With a heavy sigh, she jumped down from the ceiling and sat at the table.
Wendy: What makes you ask that?
Pavitr: Well, all the other mentors seem to have their own opinion about it and they’ve been very vocal about it. All except you.
Hobie: Oh, I’d love to hear this.
Wendy: I’m sure there are other mentors who haven’t told their opinion. Especially with Miguel watching us like a god damned hawk.
Hobie: Not really. You’ve been noticeably quiet the whole time. Come on. Tell us. We won’t tell anyone.
Wendy: You’re not going to stop pestering me, until I spill the tea or whatever you kids call it?
Pavitr: You know me so well, Wendy.
Wendy: Fine, fine. I think his thinking is flawed at best and dangerous at worst.
Hobie: What makes you say that?
Wendy: How do I say this? I don’t think it’s possible for one kid to undo the multiverse…
Pavitr: What about Earth 199999?
Wendy: How do you…nevermind. That was a…special case. The kid was desperate and was given too much power by that sorcerer. Going back to Miles, how does Miguel even know he is an anomaly? There’s no proof.
Hobie: I love the way your mind works.
Wendy: Instead of trying to fix everything and make sure everything is in the right place, I think Miguel should put more effort in trying to help these spider people. Half what he’s saying is bad could be fixed with a little bit of guidance and empathy. He used to show it, but I don’t see it anymore.
Hobie: Awe, Wendy you do care.
Wendy: I’ve always cared. Much more than I think Miguel ever will. That’s sad and also very, very scary.
They sat in silence for the rest of their lunch until it was time to go.
