Wait for me
Back in Wendy’s world
Wendy runs around the small apartment after the portal closes and after the light from it dissipates. It’s dark and the only things illuminating the apartment were the lamp lights outside. Most of all the apartment was empty. Eerily empty. It made Wendy freak out especially after the day she’d just had.
Wendy: Gwen, darling, where are you?
Wendy searches around the apartment, flipping things over and rummaging through the place looking for Gwen. Her breathing is heavy and her mind is racing.
Wendy: Honey, please answer me! Please!
Wendy stops at the couch and braces herself against it, her head down and her hair hiding her face. Sweat is dripping down it. Suddenly she feels a hand on her shoulder and turns around flinching violently. She’s about to fight whoever is there, but stops when she sees it is Gwen.
Gwen: Hey, what’s going on? Are you okay? (sweetly)
She puts her hands on Wendy’s face and it grounds her.
Gwen: Is everything at the society okay?
Wendy: Oh god. It’s all a mess! Miguel started chasing this…this kid and he claims that he’s not supposed to exist, right? And he was the most menacing I’ve ever seen him. And I went against him and everyone’s in danger!
Gwen: Oh honey.
Wendy: And Pav’s universe might be falling apart as well and I just…I just can’t deal with it all.
Gwen: Look at me. You don’t have to deal with it all by yourself. Got it? We’ll figure it out from here and you’ll figure it out as well.
Wendy: But how? I gave up my watch right after I stuck it to Miguel.
Gwen: I’m not sure. But we’ll find a way to contact your friends and make sure they’re safe, alright? We can do it.
Gwen kisses Wendy’s forehead. The gentle kiss calmed down Wendy significantly to where she could see clearly.
Wendy: Okay. I believe you. We’ll get through this.
Gwen: That’s my girl.
A moment after their small chat had ended, a bright portal opened up in the living room. It’s filled with what looks like newspaper clippings and bright colors. Wendy instinctively puts Gwen behind her, her arm stretched out and her other hand ready to shoot web at whoever it was. For an agonizing minute it stayed silent. Then Spider Gwen walked out of the portal looking around.
Wendy: Gwen!
Gwen: Gwen?
Wendy runs around the couch to get to S Gwen and gives her a hug before pulling her back to give her a once over.
Wendy: You’re not hurt, are you?
S Gwen: No, I’m fine. But Miles isn’t. We need to find him and I need your help.
Wendy: What happened?
S Gwen: I’m not too sure. He was sent to a different universe or Earth. All I know is he’s in danger and I messed up. I messed up big time.
Wendy lifts S Gwen’s chin as she starts looking down.
Wendy: We’ll find him, okay? I won’t let you go it alone.
S Gwen: We won’t be alone. We definitely won’t be alone.
Wendy’s heart tightened in her chest.
Wendy: Does that mean the others are joining too?
S Gwen: Yes. It’s a team effort. I’m done hiding.
Wendy: That’s exactly what I want to hear. (Turns to Gwen) Will you be alright without me?
Gwen nods her head and walks up to Wendy and grabs her arm.
Gwen: Just come home. Please. I don’t want to lose you too.
Wendy: I will.
S Gwen: Are you? No, that’s stupid.
Wendy: I’m sorry, I haven’t introduced you two. Gwen, meet my wife, Gwen Stacy.
S Gwen gasps as Gwen walks toward her and takes her hands in hers.
Gwen: I’m so glad to finally meet one of the people that’s fighting alongside Wendy.
Tears sting the corners of S Gwen’s eyes.
S Gwen: Do we…do we get to be happy? Does it finally happen?
Gwen smiles.
Gwen: I’d say we do. Go find him before it’s too late.
Gwen didn’t know a thing about the situation between S Gwen and Miles, but she could sense he was someone important to her.
Gwen: And look out for each other. Because if this Miguel guy is as bad as he sounds, then you’re in for a real fight.
S Gwen: We will. You can count on it.
Wendy pulls Gwen away for a minute and gives her a kiss.
S Gwen gets closer to the portal as they ready to depart. Wendy holds onto Gwen’s hand for as long as they can until they finally have to pull apart.
Wendy: Wait for me.
Gwen: Don’t worry. I will.
With that the portal closes and Gwen is left in the dark once again.
