The Day Everything changed
It is the Morning. Sun shines through the window meeting the eyes of Peter Parker. He rubs his eyes and looks for his wife, Mary Jane Watson Parker realizing that she’s gone. He sits up at the end of bed, yawning. He proceeds to move towards the kitchen to look for something to eat. He sees the note on the fridge saying, “Tiger, Had the shoot in the morning. Need to go early. Love You.” with two heart drawn at the end.
Mary Jane is sitting in Red Dress which is complimenting her hair very well. The shoot is supposed to happen at the sun rise. Director wants the natural lighting instead of artificial. Director calls MJ for shoot. She poses while Photographer clicks the photo for Client’s clothing brand.
After few shots, Mary Jane was sent to the make up room to change. Her work for today is done. Now she can go home. It’s been 7:30 in the morning. After an hour, She left the agency for her home.
On the way down, She got the message from her gynaecologist to come meet her. She went home first to have change of clothes. She reached their apartment. She searched her purse for keys. She opened the gate to find the house empty. She thought, “Peter is off to work.” She took a shower and changed her clothing to White T-Shirt paired with Blue Jeans. She then booked the appointment for gynaecologist at 3 in noon.
She reached for her Mazda Miata keys. She locked the apartment to leave for gynaecologist. She reached just in time after a while. She sit up and waited for a while. Receptionist called her name. She moved towards doctor’s cabin.
“Hey, Mary Jane” said Mrs Robb.
“Hey Mrs. Robb.” she replied.
“I wanted to tell you about your pregnancy test. It’s true that You are pregnant, Dear”
Mary Jane was shocked.
“It’s true, Dear. You’re going to be Mom. Your fine man, what was his name?-”
“Peter. Peter Parker”
“Yeah. Him is going to be Dad.”
“Thank You, Mrs. Robb. I can’t believe I am going to be Mother.”
Both women smiled and then Mary Jane left.
She then moved towards her Miata. She sat in and picked her up phone. She dialed her Aunt Anna phone.
“Hey Aunt Anna.”
“Hi Dear.”
“Aunt Anna, Can I come over?”
“What happened, Dear? Something happened between you and Peter.”
“Nothing between us. But something did happen. I’ll tell when I come. Are you at home?”
“Yeah. I am at home.”
Mary Jane reached to her Aunt Anna’s house in Queens. She ring the bell. Aunt Anna opened the gate. She hugged her niece.
Mary Jane asked Anna to call May at Anna’s house.
“I am pregnant.” said Mary Jane with teary eyes.
Both the elderly women was shocked and happy. Anna said, “I am so happy for you and Peter. Where is he?”
“I haven’t told him yet. He has his first lecture as professor at Empire State University.” replied Mary Jane
“Why wouldn’t you tell him first?” asked Anna.
“It was very important for him.-”
May said, “I’ll drag him to here if he thinks his lecture is more important than this. You both had been trying for a while.”
“May, No need to do something like that. I thought I’ll surprise him in the evening with something special when he returns. Before that, I’ll need to tell both of you.”
Mary Jane left for her residence after a short while. She decorated apartment. She wasn’t a great cook but she tried to cook their favorite dish. It was around 7pm. Everything was almost ready. She was waiting for Peter. She opened the Daily Bugle news channel on her mobile.
SPIDER-MAN FIGHTING FOR HIS LIFE AGAINST GREEN GOBLIN.
She was terrified. She believed in Peter to return home but She always gets scared. Hours went by. Peter never returned. Never called. He usually calls or drops a message. She was getting anxious. Another hour went. Instead of Peter returning home, What came was more horrifying.
SPIDER-MAN IS DEAD. THE WEB SLINGER WHO FOUGHT FOR NEW YORK DIED.
Her Peter had died. He never got to know about their miracle, his child.
“MAN NAMED PETER BENJAMIN PARKER HAD BEEN IDENTIFIED AS SPIDER-MAN ALL THESE YEARS” says the reporter before Mary Jane threw her phone at the wall. Mary Jane sat against the wall on ground and cried.
Forest Hill, Queens. May’s House. Aunt May was watching her nephew’s wife’s soap opera, Secret Hospital. Suddenly, There was a knock at door. It was Aunt Anna. Anna was shocked, concerned and sad. Multitude of emotions at the same time.
She said, “May, Peter died.” with tears coming out of her eyes. May was thunderstruck. Ground beneath her tore apart.
May eyes filled with tears of sadness. Just this day, She heard that her nephew is going to become father.
She said, “Anna, We need to go to Mary Jane.” Anna replied, “We do need to. As soon as possible. God hope, She wouldn’t had heard the news yet.”
They booked the Uber to quickly reach to Peter’s and MJ’s apartment. Outside the apartment, They found out FBI agent knocking the gate. They talked them to move aside and let them go inside. After a while, Robbie Robertson and his wife, Martha Robertson. Robbie came forward to handle them and free the ladies to go inside.
Dining Hall was well decorated with Peter and MJ’s photos. Food and Wine set on table. Instead of happiness, the Apartment reeks despair, sadness and void. Anna and May looked for Mary Jane who was lying on the floor crying silently. Both of the women reached to her.
Mary Jane then saw May. She hugged her like a child and started crying in her lap. She said, “May, He promised me, He’ll always return to me whatever comes the way. He’ll be my side whatever comes the way. But now, he never returned.” Both of women had their eyes teary again.
May hugged Mary Jane tightly. She let her cry in her arms.
