Realization
Daily Bugle. It is late in evening.
There are murmurs of Spider-Man death. Ned Leeds enters the office and runs towards Jameson office. He had police reports in his hand. Police Report from the scene.
Jameson Office
"Jameson, You need to see this. I had brought the Police Reports for...", shuddering, "Spider-Man death."
Jameson takes the look at the file. He starts flipping the pages of file. Eyes narrowing as he reads each page.
Jameson: "This cannot be true. This cannot be. This is a lie. I told you to bring real story. not some fairy tale." He looks at the Ned. Ned expression didn't changes. He stays firm in what he had gathered. "Are you telling me that Spider-Man was ... Peter Parker? Peter.... Dead?"
Ned: "That's what Police says. Under the costume, It was Peter Parker and injuries match the claim. He died fighting the Green Goblin saving the people."
Jameson stands there quietly with face turning gloomy. The office turning quiet. He facepalms himself, trying to regain composure with million thoughts wondering in his mind.
Flashback: Peter as kid with a camera in the hand coming to the office with the photos of Spider-Man. Full of energy, determination and eager to move forward in life finding something to latch onto. Jameson accepted those photos and hired him as free lance photographer for Daily Bugle.
Rubbing his eyes, Jameson tries to disbelieve the truth lying in front of him. "So all along, it was damn kid clicking his own photo and selling it to us. It was Parker. And what I did? I made him laughing stock in the city. Tried with every energy in my body to pull the damn kid down. I yelled for Spider-Man being menace, criminal and what not in front of him. All while he just sat there smiling. I even tried to hire Scorpion to kill Spider-Man. I tried to kill him" Jonah says with teary eyes. Robbie and Ned were shocked with the revelation. Robbie goes and stand side by side places the hand on Jonah's shoulder, "Peter was more than mere photographer for you. He always respected you. You supported him through his hardship. You pushed him to be something bigger even when you were hard on him. Even when He left the bugle for Horizon Labs, You supported him. You stood beside him every time. He kept the secret. That's the job He took"
"Don't you see? I tried to kill him. That's not standing beside him. I should have been protecting him. Should have been on his side but I stood against him"
"He didn't need any protection. He is strong boy. He chose this life to be something bigger than himself. He knew what he was doing. He knew the sacrifices and risk it came with. He always took every other challenge thrown at him headstrong. He wanted to help people and save people not some hero in headline. He never cared about all of noise. He focused on his mission and worked for it"
"I always thought I was doing the right thing exposing the Spider-Man but I never realised the He was hero. I never even understood the man under the mask."
"You don't have to carry the burden alone, Jonah. We are here with you. Entire Daily Bugle is with you. Peter didn't left the world thinking that you hate him. He rather died knowing that You were always there for him."
Now Robbie waves to Ned to get going and he also leaves saying "Come on, Jonah. Heads up. We got the Bugle to run publish the truth. City needs to know the man behind the mask. The Truth."
"Yeah. They got to know the truth"
Jonah goes on the air, "For years, I called him Menace. I mocked him, hunted him in print and run my bugle behind him. But I was wrong. He was the hero This city needed. He was the line separating this city and chaos. He was the hero. But now He is gone. New York has lost his greatest protector. The Friendly Neighbour Spider-Man." Camera cuts.
Jonah goes to Robbie office finding the Robbie has left the office. He asked Betty Brant for his whereabouts. She replied, "Robbie has gone with Martha to Mary Jane house."
Jonah texts Robbie, "Call me if I am required there."
"Also, DB would be running the documentary on Peter Parker by next Weekend. The City needs to know Man under the Mask. Not just hero. Not just swinging in the city. The sacrifices. The Life He saved. Effect of Peter Parker on everyone he meets as Peter Parker and as Spider-Man. Man needs to be heard and recognised."
