Siblings & smiles
*LILA POV*
A few minutes later, we reached the lake, my mother put the blanket on the ground and we all sat down. Nadya sat next to me, next to her sister who was on her other side.
Wanda was between my parents, Cooper on my other side, and Nathaniel on Nadya's lap.
Nathaniel had been complaining all the way because he wanted to go with Nadya, and now he was happy to be with her. He was only like that with Auntie Nat, now we can see how Nadya is a reflection of her.
Nadya has the same character as Auntie Nat. She is extremely brave, as well as stoic, efficient, cunning, intelligent, and unpredictable. And, like Aunt Nat, her only fear is herself.
- Lila - Nadya called me whispering - what are you thinking? -
- In how obsessed my brother is with you - I answered. She looked at my brother sitting on her lap and laughed.
- I suppose that to get you, I need to win over your brothers, right? - she answered me with a smile, the most beautiful smile I've ever seen
That answer could not surprise me more, it was the first time that she took the initiative to talk about our relationship.
- I guess so - I said with a smile that reached my ears, a smile that only she managed to have
- Girls - my father called us and we looked at him - what do you think about going to town tomorrow? We can all go to dinner together - he asked and I got nervous, I had planned to take Nadya for a walk, I had a dinner ready to ask her to be my girlfriend.
- I'm okay with that - said Wanda and Yelena simultaneously
I looked at Nadya and internally begged her not to say yes, but instead of answering, she looked at me and asked me what I thought, in her eyes I noticed a bit of discomfort. She didn't want to go.
- What do you think if we stay here? - I asked her whispering and she answered me with a small nod, while looking at the ground - can we stay here? - I asked my father
- Yes, of course - he answered, and from his look I could tell he understood.
I couldn't ask for better parents, no I can't ask for a better family.
After confirming that Nadya and I would be staying, we started to eat.
Each one was involved in their conversation, Yelena talked to my brother and occasionally talked to Nadya, meanwhile, my father talked to Wanda about anything not related to work, and finally, Nadya and I talked. Well, I would tell her to stop feeding my brother and eat her own sandwich, and she would ignore me and keep paying more attention to Nathaniel.
When we had all finished, it was time to go back, it was already getting dark and the way home was better done when it was still light. We were walking when there was a noise in the trees, normally it would be ignored, but we were with two spies who had never been here. Yelena and Nadya, the latter holding Nathaniel in her arms, whirled around, their eyes cold as ice, but if you looked closely, you could find a small glimmer of terror. Nadya protected Nathaniel with her arms, looking for the place where the noise came from.
- Hey, calm down, everything is fine, it's just an animal running - I tried to reassure them
- Yelena, Nadya, it's just an animal, you don't have to worry - Wanda said, being the first time she had opened her mouth to address them directly.
But it did not work, they were completely frozen, they did not know how to react, they were stuck in their memories, this was not just a small noise for them, this had triggered a large amount of memories.
Wanda began to use her powers to calm them down, to get them out of their mind. It was the trick she always used when Auntie Nat had nightmares or episodes, like Nadya and Yelena are having.
Soon after, Nadya and Yelena came back to themselves. But they were very confused, they did not know what was happening. They kept looking around, not finding anything to explain what had happened.
- hey, hey, everything is fine - I tried to reassure Nadya, while Wanda reassured Yelena
- What is okay? - she asked me, and I had no answer, not even I knew what had happened.
