Broken

Miles was born without any soul marks. He didn't even have a platonic one or his own mark. His parents said that it was possible for him to get ones later but that didn't stop the heartbreak. Everyone had at least one soulmate. He had lost hope of ever having one until he met the other spider people.

He was home after everything was sorted. He was tired so when he saw the marks he thought he was hallucinating. He was excited when they were there the next morning. They were some of the most beautiful things he had ever seen. There were four of them three of which he could place. The first one he identified as Peter. It had a cartoony red and blue spider on a spider web. The colors were soft and the mark was a little mess but if fit Peter so well. The mark was on his stomach mean a good friends. The second one had to be Gwen's. It was a thin stylized spider on a background of music note and dripping blue and pinkish red water color. He was amazed to see it on his wrist. Gwen was his romantic soulmate. The third was his mark. It had his symbol on black outlined in red with blue electricity dancing in the background. The last one was the one he couldn't place. It was also a spider. The lines and outline were sharper. The colors were more intense. The spider itself was black with red tipped feet and a blue spiderweb design. It also looked more like a tarantula than a common spider. The background was like red and blue pixels. The most exciting part about it was its position. On his shoulder almost over his heart. A protector.

Miles for one couldn't wait to meet whoever it belonged to. He really wanted to see the other again. Hell he was planning on trying to invent a way to get to them. Maybe he could meet the third spider. So imagine his pain when Gwen shows up one day apparently with the ability to visit him. Something she had for months. He planned to tell her and Peter about his marks, but decided to wait. She had most likely seen the marks already and wasn't being it up. If his marks were a little duller after that only he would know. He likes Gwen's two new friends. Hobie was especially cool, but neither of them matched his mark. Hobie was too chaotic. Pav was too soft. Neither were a protector. Miles finally plucked up the courage to ask Hobie if he might know who it might be. He didn't want to talk about this with Gwen.

"That could be Miguel." Hobie says. There's a note in his voice that Miles doesn't like. He also doesn't mention that the mark is less clear then it was when he first saw it. All in all Miles was having second thoughts about meeting the n behind that mark. Too late though as Gwen wanted to introduce Miles to Miguel.

I hate it went in right. Miles thinks to himself as he runs away from Miguel. Gwen and Peter had betrayed him. His soulmates had betrayed him. And now he was being chased by a man who was supposed to protect him. Could the universe ever give him a break. The pain from his marks tell him no he can not.

Miguel wasn't happy when Gwen brought Miles to HQ. She knew the rules. The kid was dangerous outside of his universe. However when he lays eyes on the kid he can't help but feel protective. He pushes that way. He doesn't even know this kid.

Telling him about canon goes about as well as he expected. He hated this. If he could protect everyone from the grid of losing a family member he would. But better one person than a whole universe. The kid refuses to just let it happens so Miguel stops him. Thee is a pain he can't identify in his chest as the kid desperately tries to escape the force field. No one has ever escaped. That should be the end of it.

Miguel is going to kill Hobie next time he sees him. He doesn't know exactly how but he feels that he has something to do with Miles being able to escape now he has to chase the kid down. He has to hand it to Miles, he is doing very well. His skills are impressive, but the farther he gets the more desperate Miguel gets.

He ends up chasing the kid up the train. He was so close. He can barely think straight, his desperation to stop Miles is the only thing he can think about. He finally gets a hold of him pinning him to the train. He is so frustrated he can't help tell Miles exactly what he thinks of him. Exactly what he is doing, what he is destroying. That he wasn't even supposed to be Spiderman. The pain in his chest returns at the look in Miles eyes. None of that matters. All that matters is that he needs to stop Miles. He had forgotten to sheath his claws when he grabbed the boy. He shakes the kid again. Trying to get him to understand. He readjusted his grip on the kid and feels a sharp pain as his claws dig into Miles shoulder. Peter's voice telling Miguel to stop is what gets him out of his trance. Miles looks of betrayal as he finds out that Peter and Gwen knew hurts more than it should. Gwen begs Miles to understand. Miles doesn't even answer her.

This time when Miles tries to pull away Miguel feels his claws in the boys shoulder. Now that he is thinking straighter he realizes where exactly he feels the pain. Miguel turns his eyes from Miles face to his shoulder. Through his ripped suit Miguel can see a soul mark. His soul mark. Covered in blood and with a nasty cut through it it is still recognizable. Above his heart, right wear Miguel's only soul mark is. A soul mark he happens to share with Peter, who wears it on his stomach, and Gwen, who wears it on her wrist. The mark represents Miles. Gwen's romantic soulmate, Peter platonic soulmate. The one person the universe demanded Miguel protect. Miguel is too stunned to do anything. To his dismay the mark isn't as clear as it should be. The color is fading and the lines are blurry. It has to be the blood. The blood and cut are making it look blurry. Miguel doesn't get to look at the mark long as Miles hits him with a venom blast. He can't let the kid go. Not now.

Miguel relentlessly chases Miles. Miguel had seen his mark and he was still chasing him. Great, I get one of the rarest marks and my soul mate decides to try to kill me, Miles thinks. He had so desperately wanted a mark and had been to exited to get them. Now he wishes he had never gotten them. He wishes he never met any of them.

He wishes the mark could have belonged to Hobie. Hobie had helped him. He actually understood Miles. Or Pav. Pav was kind to Miles. He didn't know what was going on, but he had been grateful to Miles for saving the inspector. He wasn't among the spiders that chased him like a villain.

He gets to the Go Home Machine. Miguel is close behind him. He looks more like an animal than a human at that moment. He screams at Margo to not let Miles go.

Miles begs her to let him go with his eyes. Miguel yells something he can't understand at Margo and she glares at him. He can't hear what she replies with but she sends him home. He hope Miguel doesn't hurt her. Miles is in the machine, but Margo can still stop him. When she hesitates he say the one thing he can to convince her that Miles need to stay.

"He's my soulmate you can't let him go." Margo's eyes widen on shock before she glares at him. She glances at Miles still bleeding shoulder. He would need to take care of that. He can't lose Miles now.

"Then you shouldn't have hurt him." Margo says before sending Miles back to 1610. The mark on Miguel's shoulder hurts again. Margo looks at him. He can't bring him self to be mad at her. He needs to talk to Peter and Gwen. The looks on their faces when he enters his office where they were tell him that they expect him to yell. He doesn't. He reveals the mark on his shoulder. It looks like Miles spider symbol. The symbol looks like black spray paint outlined in red. The symbol is on a background of blue electricity. They both look startled by the mark.

"You have this too?" It's barely a question. Gwen and Peter both reveal theirs.

"I shouldn't have brought him here." Gwen says.

"I can see why you did." Miguel says. Everyone gets one romantic soulmate. You almost never get another chance. More than that, of the universe says that they are ment to be together then it won't end in badly. Gwen could safely have a Spiderman lover. She still can. The bond isn't broken yet.

"We have to bring him back."Miguel is about to agree when he feels a sharp burn in his shoulder. When it's over he feels as if something is missing. The other too look horrified. He is about to ask them what is going when Gwen grabs her wrist in pain. She moved it and Miguel understands what is happening. To lines cross the now black and white mark out. Miles severed his bond with both Gwen and Miguel. Peter's pained shout tells them that he is in the same boat. Now there is no chance of fixing this. They all just lost one of there soulmates. Your only soulmate his mind reminds him. God did he mess up.
