Descent to madness

“I told you not to traumatize her” The young teen said as she looked down at the passed out teen on the couch.

“What did you do this time?” She asked Peter, he looked innocent, with his light brown eyes and his curly hair.

It was almost scary how innocent he looked, how unassuming he looked to the naked eye. How no one could or would bat an eye to him. How he could switch off his emotions from 0 to 100 whenever he wanted, it was insane how fast he could do that.

She could do that too, but it was more natural for her.

When they were in the facility, she had been there longer than he had been there, five years more than he had. But she had never really known anything aside from the facility so if she was hurt or broken, there was not much to take out of her, she began sort of apathetic to what went down or was done to her.

Peter, that was his name, that was what he continued to say and to plead when he was first kidnapped and was hurt.

He continued shouting that his name was Peter, and that was the only thing that he kept from his previous life, something that she wouldn’t let anyone take away from him.

He had a family before he was kidnapped, he had been a happy person, she knew he had been, and it had been horrifying to see the descent to madness even if it was a bit fascinating.

He used to regale her stories about the outside, promising that he would do something to get them out, at the time he still had his innocence.

He was smart, too smart for his own good, and he had good plans. He had attempted to escape several times, and had attempted in helping her escape too. At the time she had been shoved into a cell with him, and he had wrongfully assumed that she was like him, that it was her first time there. But no it wasn’t.

They did that in order for the experiments to think that she was no threat, but usually they were always older, and adults.

Peter was the first person her age that they had kidnapped which had made her curious.

Peter had thought that she was defenseless, and had tried to protect her at the beginning, he had been bigger than her, the malnourishment had not started yet.

He had been protective of her, and she had been confused as to why he was like that.

She had been curious a lot about his behavior, and the fact that he was always feisty. When he was younger he was always wanting to protect her, because he thought it was needed.

And she had been confused as to why. Because everyone else was scared of her. They had seen what she could do, and they always avoided her. They knew that she could kill them with no remorse or hesitation.

But Peter at the time did not know, so he was always trying to protect her, because at the time she had been severely malnourished and she looked younger than him, when she was actually the same age as him. She just looked younger, which helped with her helpless persona she did. So people would underestimate her.

Meanwhile she had nothing to be taken from her, Peter had a lot that they took from him, he had known happiness and this was the first time he experienced trauma or terror. So it had been a fascinating experience for her. And traumatizing for him.

He became cold and distant, and something broke, which was why he could get from 0 to 100. He was messed up in the head because of all the trauma that the Hydra agents inflicted on him.

And somehow along the way, while he was descending into madness, she found her humanity.

While Peter descended into madness and he lost himself, she found her humanity.

Between the two of them she knew that she was a terrifying presence and her killing intent was intense, compared to his. While she could appear as innocent as him, there was the fact that her eyes unnerved people.

And the fact that Peter still in a sort of twisted way cared.

That was what was terrifying, he knew about emotions such as happiness and love, because he had been loved.

Peter had to adapt and was broken beyond belief.

He had to adapt to survive, which was why he was so good at acting innocent and was able to switch or flip his switch.

He knew what happiness was and what was right from wrong, but due to the circumstances handed to him, he had to do everything in order to survive.

The fact that he knew what was right from wrong, and still chose to fuck with people was what made him terrifying.

At this point in their lives they knew they were strong enough to get out of the facility, they had just been there because they had nothing to really look forward to in the outside.

They could have left whenever they wanted to, just didn’t because they didn’t want to.

Sure they were what people thought as traumatized, but they figured that it was for their best.

She learned about human emotions seeing Peter, which now that she thought about it was pretty fucked up, because he was fucked up.

She would tell him about what emotions felt like, and she would do her best to emulate them.

He found it funny, that she was apathetic. She didn’t quite understand.

But as they were together for years they developed a sort of codependency relationship.

While she didn’t quite care about what Peter did and who he hurt, she was the one that could stop him from going over board.

And she was the one that knew that his look, even though innocent, was anything but that.

She wasn’t fooled,a dn she knew that whenever interacting with him you had to be ready for him to attack you, and since she was always apathetic she never gave him the satisfaction of appearing shocked or anything like that which is what he thrived of .

Which was why she wasn’t surprised or shocked when he looked at her with the innocent look in his eyes as he brandished a knife and the severed head of what looked like a dog.

“She said that her dog was a good guard dog,” he said his eyes blinking at her, his voice soft and almost innocent.

“I proved her wrong” He said as she looked at him with a blank look on her face.

“Maybe next time don’t do that” She said as her hands glowed green and surrounded the young girl.

“I’m assuming you had your fun” She said as he cocked his head at her and gave her a smile.

“She’s not going to remember you” She said as he nodded smiling as she held her hand up and a red light captured the severed head and then it dissolved along with the body.

“Was the party nice at least?” She asked, causing him to smile brightly as he threw himself at her and she caught him.

“People are weird” He said as he in the most normal and excited voice recounted what had occurred and it was almost normal, like two teenage friends talking about a school dance as she transported them out of there and into the home she had gotten them.

She nodded at him making him sure that she was listening and not even batting an eye as he tried to knife her, the wound easily clearing up.

He did that a lot to see if he could hurt her.

It was a strange friendship if she was being honest, were they even friends? She did not know.

She did not know his stance on her, whether he trusted her or even cared for her, not that it mattered.

In Hydra Peter lost the light in his eyes and she understood what she never had.
