Chapter 8
X-Men: Evolution Revolution Season 02 Episode 03
The X-Men were cleaning up debris while working on upgrades to the mansion with Hunter going over the schematics for what to keep and what to upgrade explaining different aspects of what they were doing with the new building and the Professor nodding while Beast walked past holding a large melted cube made up of debris and junk.
They'd actually gotten the place up fairly quickly thanks to the various connections that they all had and were just now adding the final touches to the place. Jean had floated a dish up top to Logan and Scott where were both shirtless because of it being a little warm that day. Scott noticeably having a scar on his left shoulder from when the mansion had exploded.
Kitty brought up the cables to them and then phased back down through the roof while biting into an apple and Scott looked down below where Jean had waved at them before going to do more work somewhere else. "Hey Logan, have you ever.. y'know, cared for someone. Deeply cared, like the feelings were so strong you couldn't get the words out?" He'd questioned the elder.
"My love life is not something you wanna know about. But I wanna try to get this job done by sometime today, so try to focus. Either you tell her or I will." Logan answered back about that while continuing to work on the dish.
"No, that's okay, I'll.. I'll find a way to tell her. Wish I had some of Hunter's confidence though. He and Kitty started dating almost immediately." Scott then stated back and focused on the job of setting up the dish.
"Hunter's only playing up that confidence to keep up appearances, he and Kitty have only actually been on two dates with one of them having been interrupted by the cauldron event." Wolverine stated continuing to work on the dish.
"Seriously, I would have thought they'd done way more than having only been on two dates." Cyclops questioned surprised by that but then continued to work on the dish.
"Ya, wouldn't be surprised if they hadn't had their first kiss yet either." The elder man then stated to them as they finished setting up the new dish. "That oughta do it."
Later on after they'd finished cleaning up and moving in the teens were using their powers to play a mutant variation of baseball when someone with large wings had appeared with Kitty questioning "Is that Phantom Hawk?"
"Nah, couldn't be. Phantom Hawk's wings aren't feathered." Hunter stated back looking up using his hand as a visor.
The man had then landed and Scott walks over asking "Angel, what's going on?" apparently knowing the man that had come to talk.
"I must speak with Professor Xavier immediately." The man named Angel stated back telling him why he'd came there.
Cutting to later we see that they'd had a face pulled up on a screen with the professor questioning "Are you sure this is the face of the man you saw?"
"It's not a face you'd forget Professor." The man called Angel answered back about the guy who was currently on screen.
"You were right to come here Warren, we've had dealings with Mesmero once before a long time ago." The Professor stated to them.
"But why use someone else to break in?" Angel, or Warren, questioned looking over at the professor.
"Because, that's what he does. He manipulates others, just like he manipulated Storm years ago to steal special rings. We couldn't find information on them and chalked it up to an unfinished case because he'd gone silent after that." Professor Xavier then stated to them about what happened during their first encounter.
"That was until I came along, I've been looking into the old records and comparing them to information that the Plumbers are privy to and discovered when put together they can form some sort of Key." Hunter explained pulling up a demonstration for them. "The other half of your stolen Spider Stone is locked away in a London Museum, when put together they create a complete the spider."
"And that Spider might well do the same." The Professor then added on at the end of what Hunter was explaining.
"The key to what exactly?" Warren then questioned looking at the Professor waiting for an answer of just what's happening.
"I don't know, but with Magneto now involved I feel it imperative that we procure the other half before he does." The Professor then answered them.
"I have contacts inside the museum I can warn about Magneto and Mesmero. As for what the stone does, that's still under research by the best in the business." Hunter then stated to them about what he could do to help.
"Good, then let's get to it." Scott spoke up ready to get going on mission to find out what's going on and to get the other half before Magneto could.
"Hey, how do you have all these connections anyway, is it because you're a Plumber?" Kitty questioned while they were leaving the room together.
"No it's because I'm loaded." He answered back simply with a shrug while the others stopped and gave him a funny look. "Did.. did I not mention that?"
"You like, don't talk about your family much at all Hunter." Kitty then stated back to him and he'd just shrugged in response.
"Oh.. Well, you ever wanna know anything just ask." He'd then stated shrugging it off and continued walking 'Now come on, we got a spider to grab.' He'd thought the last part which they'd all heard in their heads.
"What was that?" Angel questioned surprised to have heard him in his head. "Does he have psychic abilities too?"
"No, Jean's connecting us mentally so we don't have to rely on coms." Scott answered back while they continued going down the hall.
'He learned about it from the niece of Martian Manhunter, and we've started using it since the Juggernaut incident with the dam.' Jean thought to them about how they'd learned to do so.
'My aunt M'gann M'orzz.' Hunter thought over to them as they'd gotten aboard the Velocity and waited for the others.
"Looks like Magneto's already let himself in." Scott stated once they'd arrived at the Museum and they started to head off to go inside. 'Iceman and Beast form team one, Jean and I will take team two.' He'd then thought to them.
'Professor and Angel can take team three, and Kitty and I will take the role of team four' Hunter then added in with his own thoughts as well.
Jean and Scott took on Sabertooth first when they discovered him and had blasted them over at the guy that looked like a walking suit of armor knocking the violent mutant out cold as they'd done so. The guy in the armor then looked down at Sabertooth then back up at Jean and Scott as the others had come over to see what was going on too. It was then that they'd discovered Magneto's other guys and started fighting them easily being able to take them down thanks to their psychic co-ordinations.
Hunter got a call on his badge and he'd answered it as they heard something going on outside rushing out to see what was going on discovering that an energy spider had appeared. "You're sure about that?" He'd questioned to whomever was on the other line. "Alright, thanks I'll pass it along." He'd then run out to where the spider was yelling out "Everyone Stop!"
"I don't care what it takes destroy that Spider!" Magneto called out to his group but Hunter blasted fire at their feet stopping them from going anywhere.
"I had someone researching the spider, it's not a key. It's a guardian!" He'd warned them all about what they were doing.
"You do not know what you speak of child!" Magneto stated to them as Pyro made the flames move out of their way. "If it is a guardian it's one of Apocalypse's!"
"Yes, a guardian OF Apocalypses, as in one to STOP them from resurrecting!" He'd yelled at them telling them all to stop.
"But Mesmero"Was using you, just as he used Storm all those years ago. Let the Spider go Magnus!"" The Master of Magnetism began to say but was cut off by Professor Xavier.
Magneto had curled his fists but then let out a deep breath. "Okay, we'll play it your way. Let's see where this Spider leads us."
"Magneto's guys listening to reason, that's a first." Kitty stated about them actually listening to them for once.
"This is Plumber Agent Hunter Long, putting out an A.P.B. there's a green and yellow energy spider on the move, do not engage unless it is to help it, repeat, only assist it if necessary and do not attack." Hunter spoke into his badge telling all the Plumbers in the area to leave them be. "The spider is a guardian used to prevent an apocalyptic event."
"Copy that Agent Long, all Plumbers will be on the lookout and helping as best we can. Reporting to High Magistrata Tennyson, and P.H.D. leader Tennyson now." A voice came over his badge saying that they'd gotten their information about it being there to stop an apocalyptic event and not to start one.
