It had been a week since you got out of the hospital.
You had taken three bullets
One to your hip and two the chest
Jigen still struggles to remember how that day started out bad
The job had been an easy one too
Grab the jewels and gold and get out
They hadn't taken into account the that safe would be rigged with a alarm that would notify others. You bagged a great hall and was about to leave only, the the owner of said safe had heavy guns. And to be clear no one was supposed to be there...
Well the three of you booked it out of there. Running as fast as you could with bags full of jewels and other trinkets.
Some how you made it to car still not hurt. You were keeping an eye out incase security found you while him and Lupin pack the car up. "Come on guys." You mutter as you look around owlishly for any hit of someone finding you three. Next to him you had sharp eyes for moments like this. "The bags are heavy!" Lupin just managed to shove the bag in the back while Jigen made it to the front of the car to start it.
"Hurry up you two." He spoke lowly hoping no one could hear them. He waits for them to get in the care to start it, but it happened quickly. Lupin had barley opened the door and you followed.
You had caught a glint of something shine in bushes as you to get into the car. Then you hear a snap.
"Lupin!" You shoved him into the care just in time when the shots are fired.
"(Y/N)!"
"Shit!" Jigen had taken his gun out to shoot at the shooter. He then starts the car and the drive off with Lupin holding in his arms. Trying to stop the bleeding and to keep you awake.
They where lucky to find a hospital
Surgery was another waiting game, with Lupin not settling and pacing around waiting for word of your sugery.
Jigen had called Goemon and Fujiko about everything later into the night once Lupin had tired himself to sleep and once you had gotten a room.
You had woken up on the fourth day
The doctors told you how close you were to dieing. How the bullets to the chest were centimeter away from your heart. Said it was best to rest for a bit and not to move much.
And well since you being home now, Lupin took it to heart and did everything for you.
Jigen kept it to himself about how shocked he was to see this. Sure, he knows his boss loves you with all his heart and you love him just as much, but to see him flitter around like a worried mother was something. Like right now...he's making you lunch and putting on the works.
"Dont you think it's too much." He looks back at the newspaper.
"I'm just taking care of him." And Lupin places the food on the tray. He then takes off the apron and goes to bedroom you both share.
He opens the door to see you in the bed leaning up on a pile of pillows and blankets. He knows being on rest is driving you crazy, that your itching to move anything to keep from being still. But you seem to be taking the doctors orders to heart and rest.
"Hey..." his voice soft as if he's trying not to wake you
"Lupin...help me up?" He nods and puts the try down on the nightstand and helps you to sit up. He's careful, but you still wince. Eventually you do sit up and it does take a lot out of you. "Here, it's almost time to take your medicine too." He hands you a cup of water which you take.
Once done Lupin put the tray on the bed
"Thank you lupin." You smile at him.
"Anything for you...i just want you to get better.."
You let out a hum. You know Lupin...know how he feels. "We all get hurt Lupin... it a dangerous we live." You take a bite of the food before you continue. "Dont go blaming yourself dear. I know how that crazy head of yours works, I'm fine. We're okay..."
"But I do."
"I know...not every plan can be perfect. I can't even count the number of times you've gotten hurt. I'm just saying we all have our scars...this line of work we collect them like trophies..." Your times before Lupin you had some kind of scar on your body. Some would heal and fade other stick around. Lupin had his share and so did Jigen and Goemon. This life isn't a safe one, the chances of death were always around unlike other jobs
"You were close to death...you almost left me."
He holds your hand. "...I can't imagine a life without you...I can't even believe I had a life before you sometimes..." It's hard for Lupin to even think of a time before you entered his. It just felt like you had always been there even before you two started dating. You just fit so well with him.
"It would a lot more then bullets to take me away from Lupin." You would fight death themselves to be back at Lupin side.
You let him take a moment. Let him keep holding your hand as you ate some food as the medicine started kicking in, making you drowsy. "Stay with me?" You mutter as you struggled to keep your eyes open. You missed his warmth in the bed. "Anything for you (y/n)." He kisses the top of your head and lays with you and watches as you fall to sleep.
