Steve/Eddie- Under the Mistletoe
Everyone had gathered at Steve's house. The house it's self had been fully decorated by Steve weeks before Christmas. Usually the house would have been empty except for the outside. Past Christmas had been empty. His parents were never home and phone calls stopped around his freshman year of high school.
He saw no point in decorating during those times. He had no one to celebrate with. Even when he was dating Nancy he spent Christmas with her his parents didn't even call. Then he found himself spending time at Dustin's place during the holidays.
However, after everything...
Getting both Max and Eddie back
After ending Vecna this last time
Clearing Eddie name
After everyone being alive
He decided after a long time...to celebrate.
Both inside and out were decorated like it was the cover of magazine. His mother decorating skill have nothing on him. A tree in the living room, with presents, thanks to government hush money, food cooked to perfection, the one thing he can thanks is parents for. Since they constantly left him alone when he could take care of himself he had to know how to cook.
Everything felt right this time around.
"Woh..." Eddie's voice cuts through Steve's thoughts as he hobbles over to him. He had a bit of a limp since after the fight. He has a cane for now to keep him from putting pressure on the bad leg. " You really did bring Christmas to Hawkins Steve." He adds.
"I figured after the year we've had...it's time to celebrate." Steve shrugged. " That and it's about time the China got put to good use." He smiles a bit as he watches the kids goof off and fill their plates with food. Hopper has to lift the bread bowl away from the kids to get a roll for himself despite Steve telling them he made extra of everything. El was laughing a full smile on her face as she watched. Her had started to grow back into a curls like she had back in October.
"Better hope none of your kids break it." Eddie smiles. He watches his uncle take a seat. His plate is filled with food as he talks to Joyce not caring about the absolute chaos that is going on around him. It was nice to see his Uncle Wayne relax and not have to worry. "My kids? Last I checked we share the brats." Steve looks at Eddie who grins at him. "They mostly stay with you." He jokes making Steve smile a bit. " It wouldn't matter... a broken plate can be replaced." Steve shrugs. He doubts that his mother would notice Grandma Harrington's plates don't match, she never liked the plates to begin with he remembers her telling him when he was young during one of the rare times they had come home. Eddie has a bit of a shocked look in his eyes but then turns back to the dining room. The scene in front of them seemed like a rarity. Four times they had gone through this and Robbin and Eddie haven't been through as much as the rest of them and that was enough for them. " Is it weird to still think its too good to be true?" He mumbles
" No... Seeing how many times this has happened it does seem a little too good." After his second time he found himself always looking over his shoulder, even when it been the start of summer he thought maybe things had been over, but he was wrong.
However this time it seemed like everything was over for good.
no weird portals
no more upside-down
nothing
Hopefully it stays like that
The kids need this more then anyone. To have a school year where they dont have to worry about
"Then again why not celebrate. They deserve it...we all deserve this." Steve wouldn't have this any other way. It felt nice to have a house feeling lived in and not some kind of museum. Eddie gave a humm of agreement and watch as everyone was in their own little world. "Uh oh." Steve turns to see what wrong and looks up where Eddie is looking. Mistletoe "I didn't put that there." "We don't have to right?" A light blushed on both of their faces. None of the others have noticed the problem going not too many feet away. Eddie looks at Steve for a moment before looking away. Since the van indented there have been some light flirting, but maybe Steve saw as teasing on Eddie part. Deciding, why not, he looks back over to the friends, who were too busy eating, and does something Eddie wouldn't believe.
He kiss Eddie under the missistoe
Eddie stood there in shock unmoving.
It takes a second for his brain to reboot, but by then Steve smirks and walks away leaving behind a very flustered Eddie, who is debating I'd he's really died and gone to heaven, at the opening to the dining room mouth opening like a fish. Steve does look back with a bit of a gleam in his eyes and goes to fix him a plate. "Eddie?" Dustin calls out seeing his friend unmoving. "Yo eddie!" Dustin takes a glance at Steve, who is a bit too focused on what bred roll to get, to bother looking up. "Steve what did you do?"
Robbin, who did see every thing go down, is smirking while she drinks from her glass. "Eddie is fine just give him a chance to come back to earth." She spoke give Steve a look. "Besides it looks like he's coming around now."
"Eddie!?" All the kids are looking, the older adults and older teens don't pay any mind, more focused to finally get some of the food while the kids are distracted. "I-im fine! Steve just caught me that's all."
Dustin didn't buy it and kept grilling them the rest of the night
"Dustin if you don't quit say goodbye to care rides to the arcade." Steve threatens, which does seem too cool down Dustin to the most part.
Later when everyone is getting ready to leave Eddie hangs behind a bit. "You know that's wasn't fair." He's right beside Steve as he cleans up the kitchen. "Get me back when your leg is better." Steve gives him another kiss before moving out to say goodbye to Joyce and Hopper. Eddie grumbling flustered that Steve snuck another kiss. "I'm so gonna get you later big boy." He smirks. It was now time for him and his uncle to leave. "I'm counting on it." He flirts back.
So far it was a good Christmas
