Chapter 2
Scream. All Rosalie could hear was the gut-wrenching shriek, like someone was dying. Well it almost was as if Bella was dying. At least she wasn’t numb. Rosalie was very worried when she saw her catatonic body brought out of the woods by the leader of the wolf pack. Edward was so selfish to make that conversation in the middle of the forest. It isn’t out of his typical modus operandi – he was so full of himself that he didn’t take Bella’s well-being into consideration (as if it was anything new). But the way he claimed Bella to be the most precious thing (emphasis on thing) for him, and then treating her like a piece of garbage was outraging.
She was standing at the edge of forest near Swan’s house, and listened to what was happening inside. Rosalie was fighting with herself, if she should go in there, or it would make everything worse. On the one hand she knew what to do to help her navigate thru heartbreak since she has experienced it, and had a degree in psychology, on the other hand she was one of the Cullens – what if she made everything worse just because that asshole used to live with her for few decades. She felt tore.
Another scream – She didn’t know if Bella had nightmares of had to deal with her emotions conscious. She was terrified. What Royce did to her left a big scar in her heart, but she haven’t ever screamed like that. She kept it to herself. She wanted to be brave, not to show to anyone how hurt she was. If Bella wasn’t able to hold it in her, this means it was worse than she imagined. She remembered her behavior regarding the James situation. This poor human was in death threatening situation, but tried to calm Edward down (ironic isn’t it? He wasn’t in danger – he had his coven hence was able to defend himself). Even more, she thought that going to the ballet studio to “save her mother, and help everyone” was a great idea. If the was able to stand face to face with death then, and now she acted like a banshee, this means something very bad happening to her psyche.
She heard when chief Swan woke up. Then she heard rhythmical thuds of his steps. Creak when he opened the door to his daughter’s room. He sit next to her on the bed. Rosalie went closer to peak through the window. Bella was crying while she held Charlie in a tight grasp. He looked unsure of what he should do, so he just hugged her as tight as he could and repeated over and over words that he hoped would calm her down. They sat like that for a long time. Bella’s breath started to even out, when the soft gloom of new day stared to show up.
Rosalie left thinking about the upcoming school day.
