Some stories cannot be changed!

“Monsters, brutes, all of them! Come brother, you need not fear the battle. We’ll go to Jotunheim and kill all the Frost Giants!” Thor boomed.

Loki's words had put Odin in a trance. Not now, Loki can't be remembering the past now? Is it even possible for a day or two old, almost famished baby to remember? He had assured Frigga that they need not worry about telling Loki the truth of his birth and can sense the tension radiating from her. Should he continue the lie or speak the truth? Telling the truth now, so close to Thor's coronation would break Loki. He may come to wrong conclusions all together! The boy had taken his choosing of Thor for king over him rather well. He'd expected argument, chaos, mischief.. Hell, when the boy had been missing in the morning he'd thought Loki might be wallowing in sorrow or jealousy, or perhaps plotting a revenge.. He wouldn't have been surprised if Loki would have come up with excuses, sprouted out of his jealousy, defaming Thor and stating why Thor isn't eligible to be a King yet… Anything.. But this?...Thor's stupid declaration brought Odin back to himself.

“Thor, Loki, you will do no such thing! The Jotuns have done nothing to grant your anger Thor! Would you kill innocent Jotunn because your brother had an ominous dream?”

Oh why does Thor have to be so hot headed? Is this how he will be as a King? Does he even remember the Peace treaty with Jotunheim?

“But father–”

“No Thor! Enough! Silence! And you need to get control over your anger and stop the storm outside this moment before the coronation decorations get ripped off the palace!”

With that Odin breaks the bread and the four Royals eat their food in silence. Thor’s temper had still not cooled down and could be felt in the air. While Loki couldn't help doing a victory dance in his mind! Not only had he deviated attention from his absence in the morning but had also given Odin and Frigga an opening to come clean with their lies while also exposing how hot headed their first born is! Come on Odin, take the olive branch.. Come clean with better words than “I had picked you for peace, purpose no longer…” Blah blah bullshit… Loki already knows Odin is an idiot father, who definitely doesn't know how to bring up kids, when they do not follow his heed, he just throws them away in banishment so that he's unable to see his mistake. No matter how much he deep down loves them. Heck, he's seen the love he'd bestowed upon Hela until she turned evil! He knows he loves Loki as his son but has all the misconceptions about him.. This needs to be cleared up if he wants Odin on his side. Odin's trust in him could make the journey into the grim future fractionally easier.

Thor quickly finished his lunch and left! Now that was first time, Thor had always been the last one to finish a meal. Loki was about to leave too, satisfied with himself, he had drank a good amount of Asgardian wine, and can you blame him? All this time, while sitting on that lonely throne, he could only watch this wine from afar.. Of course he will drink all he can while he has it. Even though, it may have seemed out of place for his not family to watch him drink so much of it as if he'd never had one! Frigga even gave him an eyebrow raise expression when he finished around 10th? 15th? glass of wine...

"Loki, son, wait!" Odin said just as Loki was about to get up to leave.

"What did you see in your scrying?"

"I couldn't see much, worse, I could only hear a babe crying constantly... Which is what makes no sense! There are no kids around in the palace at the moment... But I think I saw the Casket of Winters, which deepened my doubt, as the artifact was of Jotunheim and is kept in Asgard currently... "

Odin straightened his face and said, "Did it not occur to you that you could have been dreaming of the past! Perhaps the visuals created by your imagination based on the books?"

Anger flared again in Loki's heart. Here he had given them a chance to come clean and Odin was again pushing it away?

"If what I saw and heard was from fragments of my imagination about the past, why the sounds of a crying baby?"

"The battle did not spare the babies either!"

Frigga makes a noise of mild annoyance as Odin tries to hide the truth again!

Loki could not help but glare at Odin! His scorn showing itself… Before he could let his anger explode and give away anything, Loki decided to walk out and maybe if he might have forgotten to take the permission to leave from the King, he wouldn't bother.

That left just Odin and Frigga at the table. Frigga quickly casted a silencing spell and a locking spell so that no one could enter, leave or hear the conversation.

Odin was still deep in thoughts. Today had been a very weird day for him. First, Loki doesn't act like himself, shows no sign of jealousy towards Thor, doesn't even mention Thor and coronation in a negative manner… Instead he is scrying? Recalling his past? And since when did his obedient younger son start giving him glares, not bother with formality, didn't even greet while entering as he usually does? He had expected a change in Loki, perhaps more discipline in order to prove himself as a better candidate than Thor.. This seemed more like he's content.. Did he miss something? And what is wrong with Thor? Is he so eager for battle that he would decide to kill all of Jotun based on a scrying dream? A mere suspicion?

Frigga's hand on his shoulder brings him back to the present!
