βIβm sure Steve already explained the basics of Christmas to you and Loki?β You guessed, walking down the halls of the Compound with the Asgardian prince himself.
βYou are correct to assume such. He and the man of spiders explained your Midgardian traditions to me. I find it quite enjoyable!β His booming voice proved his excitement.
βWell, thatβs what weβre decorating for.β You grinned, shifting the way you were holding the large cardboard box. βYou havenβt been on Earth for Christmas yet, have you?β
βIndeed not.β He replied, carrying the huge Christmas tree box as if he was carrying an empty paper bag. His strength was still amazing to you, even though youβd known him for over two years at this point.
βOkay. Well, basically, all of us celebrate here in the Compound. Most of us donβt have anywhere else to go, but anyone who has a familyβlike Clint and Samβcan bring their family up here for the Holidays. Itβs fun. We have dinner together, we decorate, and we do all the other holiday traditions together.β You summarize.
βDecorating is what we are doing now?β He questioned. You nodding, grinning. βThis is Wandaβs favorite part. And maybe mine too, but I really like it all.β
Thor nodded along as you reached the living room. The plan was to have two Christmas trees in the living room; one on each side of the TV. Sam, Wanda, Bucky, Steve, and Nat were already setting up the tree on the left of the TV.
βYou can set the box down right there.β You pointed to a space near one of the three large couches.
He did, setting it down and watching as you began to open it.
You listened to Bucky and Sam argue over ornaments, laughing quietly to yourself.
You guided Thor on how to attach the three parts of the tree together. He picked it up quickly, and you were slightly surprised at how easily it came to him. He picked out the prettiest ornaments, placing them on the higher part of the tree. It was helpful, considering you couldnβt reach that part of said tree.
βI donβt know why Tony chose 9β0 trees,β you handed Thor the star that was meant to go on the top of the tree.
βFor style!β Bucky grunted, and you looked over in the direction of the strained voice.
Sam was sitting on Buckyβs shoulders, stretching up to tie a bow on top of the tree.
βYou guys know we have a ladder, right..?β You blinked. Wanda shook her head at you; Nat made a swift βdonβt worry about itβ gesture.
You chuckled at the two idiots, watching them bicker with each other. You turned your gaze to Steve, finding him to be staring at the two of them like a disappointed father.
βJesus Christ.β You murmured.
βThat would be the wrong God,β Thor teased. You laughed a little, shaking your head. βYou know what I meant.β
You continued putting up decorations, and his excitement was contagious.
It was when he kissed you that you were shocked.
βWh-what was that for?β You stared up at the God.
βYour tradition. I saw a green plant.β He pointed to Pepperβs fake succulent she forced Tony to keep in the Compoundβs kitchen, which you were currently decorating in.
βWhat?β You stared at him, utterly confused.
βThe green plants. And kissing a beautiful person.β
You felt your cheeks get hot at that. βIβthank you? But..thatβs not it. Itβs mistletoe. You hang it from somewhere, and then if you and someone else stand under it at the same time, you have to kiss.β
βI think I like my version better,β he murmured, placing his finger under your chin, leaning in slightly. βMay I?β His voice was deep, rugged. And so fucking hot.
You nodded, and then he kissed you. Maybe you liked his tradition better, too.
