Migraine - Frank Castle

Today was not a very good day for you. You’d woken with a dull throb in your skull that gradually turned into roaring in your ears and a slice of pain every time you moved. Frank kept trying to talk you through the logistics of unloading and taking apart a gun to clean it but you kept fumbling with all of it.

You were dizzy and tired and nauseous. Every bit of your body ached. And even pressing your thumbs into your eyes or temples couldn’t help the agonizing pain in your brain. You couldn’t concentrate on anything at present.

“I’m sorry, Frank. Can we do this later?” You asked, almost in a whisper.

Frank looked up, finally noticing something off about you. He narrowed his eyes, a scowl on his face.

“You okay?”

“Yeah.” You pinched the bridge of your nose.

“You sick?” He watched you closely.

“Not… it’s just a migraine. It’s fine.” You sighed, laying your head down on the table in front of you.

Frank grunted and got up from the table. Maybe giving you space to nurse your migraine. Honestly, you didn’t know and right now you didn’t care as long as the throb in your skull died.

A few minutes later, however, Frank was by your side and grumbling at you.

“Get up.” He rasped.

“Huh?” You blinked a bit before covering your eyes, shielding them from the harsh light.

“I said get up.” He growled softly. “And follow me while you’re at it.”

You sighed a little but did as he asked, though you swayed a bit when you stood. You had no idea what he had in mind for you but you hoped it was a small task so you didn’t have to fight the migraine any more than you already were.

When Frank turned sharply into the bathroom, you frowned. What was he doing? He stepped to the side to allow you access into the candlelit bathroom where you could smell eucalyptus and lavender in the large space. He’d run you a hot bath, just the temperature you liked it and added some bath salts that were meant for mellowing out migraines.

“In.” He ordered before closing the bathroom door behind you.

You sighed but decided to oblige anyways. Might as well not let the lovely water go to waste.

You quickly shed your clothes and sank down into the hot water, a satisfied noise escaping as you did. You let the warmth wash over you as the heat seemed to draw out a good portion of the tension in your shoulders, neck, and back.

After what felt like hours, but was more likely only half an hour, Frank knocked at the door. He was much too gentlemanly to open it, so he just called through the door.

“How ya feelin’, kid?”

“Much better.” You hummed softly. “Thanks.”

He grunted in response and you could hear him shuffle away from the door.

A few more minutes passed and you finally drained the water. You noticed he’d left you a change of your softest, oversized pajamas and you slid into them. They felt warm, like they were fresh from the dryer and you smiled thoughtfully.

You stepped from the bathroom and met Frank back in the living room, where he passed you two migraine strength meds and a cool cup of water. After you drained the cup he switched it out for a cup of coffee and ordered you to sit on the couch.

“I kept you busy too long today.” He scowled. “Now, eat.”

He handed you a plate of your favorites before sitting down next to you and turning the tv on low onto your favorite show to watch with him. Today was better than you’d expected and you were grateful for the man next to you. Frank Castle cared in many ways and he showed it in the most unexpected of times.
