Chapter 3
*when Friday rolls around Peter is sitting in class waiting for his History teacher to lead them out to the busses for the field trip when his favorite teacher Miss Honey walks in. Peter’s expression brightens up by a lot when he sees Miss Honey walk into the room. She’s always been his favorite teacher and he’s felt a really good connection with her. So he gets really excited when he sees her come in.*
Miss Honey: hey kids! For this field trip, me and Mr Harrington are going to be leading you guys around. So out to the buses guys!
Matilda(the quiet kid): *she looks at Miss Honey* mom?
Miss Honey: yes dear? *she looks over at Matilda*
Matilda: can we get ice cream later?
Miss Honey: sure *she smiles warmly*
*Peter raises his eyebrows when he hears that Matilda calls Miss Honey, Mom. He does know they know each other very well but it still seems weird that she’d call her mom. So he decides to try to get to the answer before Matilda’s teacher can respond.*
Peter: Whoa wait, Miss Honey is your mom?
Matilda: adoptive mom. *she responds as she fixes the ribbon in her hair*
*Now this makes a lot more sense to Peter. He’d have been pretty surprised if Miss Honey was actually Matilda’s biological mother because she doesn’t look old enough to have given birth to a 14 year old child. But adoption makes perfect sense. So he just responds with another simple question*
Peter: When did she adopt you?
Matilda: when I was about 6. *she says as she re-ties the hair ribbon*
*Peter actually has an immediate reaction to this and his expression softens for just a split second before he quickly recovers and switches back to his usual snarky self. From what he’s gathered, Miss Honey probably had a soft spot for adopting a 6 year old child and wanted to help her out, which makes Peter feel even more connected to her because of how genuine it is.*
Peter: Wow, it must have really sucked to be abandoned by your real parents.
Matilda: yeah, they neglected me so Miss Honey adopted me
MJ: *comes up behind Peter* hey nerd *she says jokingly, she always teases him but they’re best friends so it’s fine*
*Peter jumps slightly when he hears MJ say “hey nerd”, although he also laughs because of how unexpected the insult was and because she usually does that for fun to mess with him, which is perfectly fine. So he decides to joke back with her like he typically does*
Peter: *he laughs* Oh man, is that the best you can do? You’re so predictable.
MJ: I could call you a cock sucker.
*Peter can’t help but laugh at that one because it’s a more blunt and extreme version of what she typically says to him. For some reason he actually thinks that’s pretty funny, although he certainly wouldn’t ever actually call someone a “cock sucker.” So he responds with another sarcastic comment*
Peter: Wow, you seem to really be escalating the insults today, huh? But it won’t work, because you already used the worst ones on me so this is actually kinda lame, if I’m being totally honest.
MJ: let’s get out to the busses before we get to left behind you dork *she ruffles his hair. Their relationship as I mentioned before is completely platonic. more of a sibling relationship than anything.*
*It would be a pretty bold statement for Peter to say that MJ is like his sister, but she really is definitely close enough to him that a lot of people do actually see the similarities in their relationship. So he laughs and shrugs her off after she ruffles his hair, which he always finds so annoying every single time even when she does it to jokingly mess with him*
Peter: *he says in a mockingly dramatic manner, jokingly playing along with the joke* My oh my, I’ve been so insulted! I think I’m going to go cry now.
Miss Honey: to the busses everyone! First person on the bus gets to choose the ice cream store we stop by after the field trip! *she calls out*
*Just as everyone’s rushing to get outside to the busses, Peter happens to hear this. So because this also means that there are more likely going to be less students in the room than usual, he decides to take his chance to mess with MJ since they will be almost alone. So he tries to beat the other students to the busses to be the first one so he can choose where they end up going after the field trip*
*Peter literally uses his enhanced stamina to bolt past the teacher and jump onto the bus right after Matilda who had already gotten on the bus while Peter and MJ were picking on each other, MJ trailing right behind him, and Ned following behind as he’s slower*
*Peter is surprised when he sees MJ manage to keep up with him for that long, but he also laughs a little at how determined she is just to make it to the bus before him. But he doesn’t let her overtake him as he uses his legs to their furthest potential with the enhanced speed and he ends up beating her to the bus by a few extra seconds. Then, Peter smiles and sits back down on the bus seat and laughs a little bit to himself*
Miss Honey: *looks at Peter* damn. You’re fast. Have you ever thought about joining the track team?
*Peter laughs at this question and shrugs as he responds to her*
Peter: No, never really thought about it before. I’m more of a math and science kinda guy anyways though, so running around a track just isn’t really something that interests me. I’ll stick to being the school’s nerd.
Miss Honey: *chuckles*
*the least liked teacher of Peter’s, Mr Harrington, steps onto the bus*
*Peter’s expression instantly becomes annoyed as soon as he sees Mr Harrington approach the bus because he also doesn’t really like him. So, he decides to turn around in his seat and just roll his eyes as a way to express his distaste for his teacher.*
*MJ and Ned sit beside Peter, keeping him up against the bus window so no one can bother him (as good friends do 😌). Once MJ and Ned sit next to him, Peter turns to MJ and smiles at her, glad that she is sitting with him. As for Ned, he just lets out a small sigh and then sits down and puts his head down. He's always more nervous about field trips and he’s just not really looking forward to them ever. But he's more than happy that he gets to sit next to Peter and MJ, as they always make everything feel much more relaxed no matter the situation. but, Peter’s mood is ruined when Flash Thompson and his goons sit behind him. Peter’s smile instantly fades as soon Flash Thompson and his goons sit down behind him. There’s always that bit of tension when Flash is around, especially when his goons are present. So, Peter’s expressions turns to one that’s just slightly worried as he tries to avoid any type of interaction with Flash and his goons.*
*as if Ned and MJ were his personal bodyguards they sit as close as possible to Peter just to make sure that Flash can’t bother him. Ned puts his arm behind Peter’s head to block Flash, who’s sitting behind him, from messing with Peter and MJ is fidgeting with her pocket knife. (Ned and MJ definitely have a secret club called the “Peter Parker Protection Squad” and if you disagree you can suck my metaphoric di-)*
*Peter is grateful for his friends because the way they immediately jumped to his defense as soon as Flash and his goons came onto the bus. Normally, he wouldn’t need their protection but today he can tell by the look on Flash’s face that he’s really eager to mess with him and he’s glad Ned and MJ are there to protect him from that. Also, Peter’s eyes widen when he sees MJ fidgeting with her pocket knife and he silently mouths the words “Do not stab him”.*

*they arrive at the tower around 30 minutes later. All of the kids rush off of the bus except for Ned, MJ, and Peter who have already been here a million times and Peter lives there in the penthouse anyways. Because Peter is already so familiar with the place, his expression is basically void of all excitement. He’s already seen everything in the place countless of times so the feeling is more numb than anything really. But Ned and MJ still seem very excited despite it not being their first time here because the place really is an awesome destination for a field trip and always manages to captivate them. Which in turn, makes Peter smile at them because he’s just happy they are here together having a good time on this field trip, even if it’s to somewhere he’s seen a million times.*
Miss Honey: Peter? Are you okay? You look like something is wrong.
Mr Harrington: he’s fine. Let’s just get this field trip done *he goes to shove Miss Honey along but she slaps him (as she should, we stan a girl boss)*
*Peter’s eyebrows raise when he sees Miss Honey slap Mr Harrington. Usually he would never imagine her actually doing anything like that, although the fact that she is sticking up for her students like this and not taking any bullshit is definitely something to applaud.*
*He then just chuckles and shrugs as he responds to her question*
Peter: I’m fine, I just don’t feel super excited since I’ve already seen everything here a million times.
*Mr Harrington, who doesn’t believe Peter works there and told Peter not to talk about it, shoots a harsh glare towards Peter*
*As soon as Mr Harrington shoots a harsh glare at Peter, this catches his attention and his expression turns back to the snarky one that he normally has. He doesn’t enjoy when people act like this towards him so he decides to respond with another sassy comment*
Peter: *he says in his most sarcastic voice* Oh my word! Mr Harrington is glaring at me, whatever will I do? I’m absolutely going to pee my pants right here in this exact moment.
*MJ snickers and Flash glares at Peter*
Flash: wow, I didn’t know the little nerd baby could defend himself *he taunts Peter*
*Peter lets out a small, scoffing laugh when Flash mocks him and he rolls his eyes. But he quickly manages to snap back with another sassy remark, which to him, is something he always enjoys doing*
Peter: I didn’t know that dumb rich assholes were even capable of having a vocabulary other than slurs and curse words, yet here you are breaking my expectations.
Betty Brant: wow… I never thought I would see the day that Peter Parker stood up for himself…
Flash: shut it Betty! *he smacks her in the back of the head*
Betty Brant: hey! *she whips around and looks angry*
*Since Flash is someone Peter clearly doesn’t like very much, he takes great pleasure in defending Betty just to be a good friend. And this is just another example of it since he’s even sticking up for someone he doesn’t really know all too well. So he shoots Flash a sharp glare and responds back with another snarky comment*
Peter: You know, Betty is right. I also never believed that I’d see the day that you would possess enough brain power to not call people slurs and swear at them while your tiny ass brain struggles to comprehend anything else.
Flash: shut it Penis Parker! *he snaps, making a transphobic comment about Peter being a trans male*
MJ: *goes to lunge at Flash*
Ned: *physically restrains MJ*
Miss Honey: enough Children!
*If there’s one thing that Peter can’t stand people attacking, it’s the people he cares about. So, when Flash decides to make a transphobic comment in reference towards him, Peter immediately defends himself and goes to lunge at Flash if it wasn’t for his best friend getting in his way.*
Ned: *he uses all of his strength to restrain MJ from Flash*
Peter: *he shouts back at Flash* Is that the best you can do, Flash? Because I’ve heard better insults on a regular basis from my own goddamn self.
Miss Honey: break it up kids! Flash! One more comment about Peter and you’re getting a suspension!
Mr Harrington: I honestly don’t see the problem Miss Honey. It’s not like Flash said anything too bad, it’s just harmless teasing!
Miss Honey: shut up Harrington! I am not going to let any of my students be transphobic!
Mr Harrington: *he shrugs back at her and says in a dismissive tone* Why not? It’s just a little transphobia and transphobia isn’t that bad. In fact, I agree with Flash here, transgender people are just weird anyways.
Miss Honey: *shoots a really angry glare at Mr Harrington which is usual for Miss Honey because she’s the literal nicest person ever due to her past of being a kindergarten teacher* say one more thing about Peter and I’ll put my foot in a place it don’t belong. do you understand me Harrington? *she threatens*
*Mr Harrington actually looks genuinely shocked to see the kind, gentle nature of Miss Honey suddenly switch to this angry and aggressive version of herself. And because he’s such a pompous ass who is not used to being checked like this, it actually intimidates him. But he knows better than to not take her threats seriously so he decides to just back down.*
Harrington: *he says nervously* y-yes Miss Honey, I understand.
Miss Honey: *her expression immediately changes back to the “fun loving ex kindergarten teacher” and she smiles* now, let’s get on with the field trip
*Peter is instantly relieved when her personality shifts back to normal because this way, she’s not angry at anyone anymore. So they can proceed with the field trip as per usual and Peter can go back to being his snarky self without worrying about being yelled at by Miss Honey. But he can’t help but grin in amusement at her transformation into this scary and intimidating person for a moment to defend him.*
*Miss Honey walks up to the reception desk at the front of the tower and is greeted by Peter’s favorite desk lady Charlotte.*
*Peter can’t help but smile as he sees his favorite lady Charlotte greeting Miss Honey at the reception desk. Not only because she’s his favorite, but because her personality is always so sweet and kind that she’s able to make anyone feel welcome and at ease. And Peter knows just from watching her talk with Miss Honey that she’s already making her feel completely comfortable.*
*desk lady Charlotte points Miss Honey and the class of students (and Mr Harrington who we all hate.) in the direction of the tour guide which just so happens to be Kathrine, Loki’s wife and the goddess of chaos and destruction, as well as one of the OG avengers. Everyone on the field trip including Peter, MJ, Ned, and even Flash follow Miss Honey to where Kathrine is standing, so she can give them the tour of this place. But when Peter sees that Kathrine's the one leading this whole thing he has a feeling that things are going to get really interesting really soon. Because the way this woman carries herself and her overall chaotic energy just makes Peter feel like they’re in for one hell of a time during this field trip indeed.*
Kathrine: *in her peppy sweet southern lady voice (don’t let that fool you she’s the devils incarnate)* hello kids! I’m gonna be givin y’all a tour of this place! Now you’ll all get your own level one tourist badges which means you can’t go to the 8th floor or any of the living quarters without me! Now no acting out on this tour and no straying away from me! Unless you have level 5 clearance or higher you aren’t allowed to walk around alone without permission or supervision since this is a very dangerous place and various things tend to explode on the daily due to this place being a tech lab and a super hero headquarters! *she sounds very sweet as she says all of this, of course Peter already knows all of this because he works and lives here and Ned and MJ know the rules because they visit Peter here on a regular basis.*
*It’s always fun for Peter watching people get completely fooled by Kathrine’s charm and sweet southern lady tone of voice because that just means they’re in for a big surprise once they realize just how crazy her true personality actually is. Because the way she says all of this with such an innocent and playful tone of voice, it’s almost like she’s joking around when she says things like “various things tend to explode on the daily due to this place being a tech lab and a super hero headquarters” but Peter knows better. especially since Peter and Shuri explode the lab on a daily basis*
Kathrine: now if y’all just come over here I’ll give all of y’all your own level 1 badge *she smiles, and of course since Peter has a level 10 clearance badge already she doesn’t give him one which confuses Mr Harrington as he still doesn’t believe that Peter works there. so he makes the grave mistake of speaking up about it.*
Mr Harrington: *he looks at Peter’s lack of level 1 badge and immediately questions both him and Kathrine* How come Peter doesn’t have a level 1 badge on him if he works here? Was he not allowed one or were there just not enough to go around?
Kathrine: well he has already level 10 clearance due to his job here so there’s no need to give him a level one clearance badge.
Mr Harrington: *his face immediately turns to a look of shock upon hearing this and he responds in a rather surprised tone* Wait, Peter is at level 10 clearance level? How the hell did he manage to get that???
Kathrine: he’s a tech designer here and has his own lab as he is Mr Stark’s personal intern, *she say’s simply so she doesn’t reveal Peter’s secret of being Tony’s adopted son* now if I may continue talking, each of your badges will have your name on them and I have lanyard attachments for all of them, so please come over to me and I’ll hand out your badges.
Mr Harrington: *he just stands there in shocked silence at the realization that this kid that he thought was weird and dorky was able to achieve this status within his very own company. But, he can’t allow his classmates to start respecting Peter too much so he clears his throat and raises his hand to get Kathrine’s attention again.*
Kathrine: *ignores him* okay, so I’m going to call y’all by name and when I say your name you will come up and get your badge. “Eugene ‘Flash’ Thompson”?
*When Flash’s name is called, he quickly pushes his way to the front of the crowd just in time to claim his badge and he’s not ashamed of how his friends may think of him doing so. But when Mr Harrington is ignored, he immediately raises his voice to try and get Kathrine’s attention again.*
Kathrine: *dismisses Mr Harrington* now, the next badges I have belong to a “Harold Fredrickson” and a “Jacob Fredrickson”
(they’re part of Flash’s little posse)
*Flash’s posse also push their way to the front of the group to grab their badges as well. But they’re not as obnoxious and rude as Flash is when going to grab the badges though. But Mr Harrington is getting increasingly irritated by the fact that Kathrine keeps ignoring him so he decides to raise his voice even louder in an attempt to get her attention once again.
Kathrine: is there a “Betty Brant” here?
*Betty Brant immediately raises her hand when her name is called to come and claim her badge and she smiles to herself since she’s always liked Kathrine because she believes she’s a nice person. But when Betty reaches the front of the crowd and takes her badge, she notices how Mr Harrington is raising his voice even louder to try and get Kathrine’s attention, causing Betty to raise an eyebrow at the situation.*
Kathrine: *she calls out the next name* Michelle Jones?
MJ: *she promptly takes her pass and stands beside Peter*
Peter: *his face lightens up as he sees MJ claim her badge and stand right next to him. But he tries not to make this an obvious show of affection by simply just standing still and smiling gently at her with his eyes. As for the rest of the group, Mr Harrington finally manages to get Kathrine’s attention by raising his voice even louder than he ever has before.*
Kathrine: *she picks up the next badge* ooh I have one of the teacher’s badges this time. Jennifer Honey?
Miss Honey: *smiles sweetly and gently takes the badge from her* that would be me
*Mr Harrington is getting increasingly annoyed at the fact that this woman is still ignoring him so he makes the rather arrogant decision to talk over her and ask his question*
Mr Harrington: *he shouts so that he can be heard over all of the other students talking and making comments* Listen, I don’t understand why you’re just ignoring me when I’m trying to ask a simple and reasonable question!
Kathrine: *holds her hand up to shush Mr Harrington, her authority is clear and she knows her place* be patient. Or I’ll make you be. I’ll answer your question after I hand out all of the badges. Now… Ned Leeds? *she’s holding a blue, level 5 badge for Ned since unbeknownst to the others, he visits the tower on a regular basis to see Peter.*
*Ned actually didn’t believe his luck when he went to claim his badge and saw that it said a level 5 badge on it. Considering that all of the other students have only been given level 1 badges, he knows this means that he’s got a lot more clearance within this place compared to the others. But he just smiles at Kathrine and quietly lets her hand him his badge without showing too much emotion. But when he finishes claiming his badge, he gives Peter a quick and subtle wink behind her back. Peter waves to Ned, gesturing for him to come over to him and MJ, MJ also has a level 5 badge. Ned smiles when he sees MJ also has a level 5 badge and when he sees Peter waving him over to where he and MJ are standing. He realizes that they may be getting a lot more access than the rest of the class is so he decides to leave the crowd and walk over to Peter and MJ.*
*Kathrine finally finishes handing out all of the badges and gets to Mr Harrington’s badge which since he’s a teacher he gets a level three badge*
Kathrine: Mr Harrington?
*Mr Harrington doesn’t even try to hide his frustration upon hearing her give out a level 3 badge to him when he wanted at least a level 4. So he angrily yells out to her again*
Mr Harrington: Listen, I really hate to be a pain in the ass but I just have one more question regarding Peter’s clearance level!
Kathrine: and what would that be? *her nice girl act drops a bit and you can see the whole “goddess of chaos and destruction” “most powerful avenger” personality poke through*
Mr Harrington: How come this… this… this kid is allowed a level 10 clearance level but I’m not even allowed anything over a level 3?
Kathrine: because he works here and works in a lab that explodes 5 times a day and this is your first time here so you get a level 3 badge.
Mr Harrington: *he sighs in annoyance at her answer and doesn’t want to admit that she might just have a valid point* Alright, fine. But is there even such a thing as a level 10 clearance?
Kathrine: yes, for our higher up tech designers such as Peter who helps develop the weapons that we put in the Avenger’s suits and for the avengers. And since *I’m* an avenger I also have level 10 clearance.
Mr Harrington: *he’s completely baffled by her answer and the fact that he now knows that a kid is working on these types of weapons and technology makes him even more nervous for his students’ safety* Well then this place must require a lot of security if you’re all developing weapons and things like that. So can you tell me why this kid needs a level 10 clearance level?
Kathrine: because he works with the avengers. Now stop questioning me so we can get on with the tour.
*Mr Harrington isn’t willing to let things end on a note like that, so he instantly speaks up again in a very agitated tone*
Mr Harrington: Listen if you expect me to safely take my kids on this tour then I am going to question as many things as I damn well please! But I guess you just don’t care about the safety of these children do you?!
Kathrine: I’m in charge of taking these kids around and keeping them safe since I’m an avenger. Not you. Also I saw that you’re listed as a substitute and the primary teacher for this class is Miss Honey. now, everyone follow me into the elevators, we’re gonna be visiting the avenger’s museum first.
*Mr Harrington doesn't like the fact that she's the one who’s in charge and not him so he says one more snarky statement before doing as she says to start the tour*
Mr Harrington: Oh right, because you’re an avenger so you’ve obviously taken a course in childcare and know all about keeping a group of children safe.
Kathrine: *whips back around and looks him dead in the eye* look here Mr. I have three kids and I take care of all of the avengers kids on a regular basis. I really don’t wanna hear your bullshit.
*He’s intimidated by her sudden outburst but he doesn’t back down from the argument*
Mr Harrington: That doesn’t magically qualify you to know how to keep a group of children safe in a place like this! There could be anything on the other floors that could cause harm to them!
Kathrine: I have to keep my three kids who are all under the age of 6, safe from the various dangers on the other floors so yeah, I do know how to keep a group of children safe.
Mr Harrington: *he grumbles something under his breath in response but continues to follow her* You know, for someone who is an avenger and a superhero, the way you talk is quite un-ladylike.
*she literally whips around once more and puts a fucking piece of duct tape on his mouth*
Kathrine: *in her happy attitude again* now, who wants to see the avengers museum?
*Mr Harrington tries to yell something back to her in anger but he can’t make any noise because of the duct tape so he rolls his eyes, but decides that it’s not worth risking his job over this. So he just follows along with the group until they reach the avengers museum.*
