the end
The funny thing about meeting two alternate versions of myself and fighting their respective arch-enemies, Peter can’t help but muse as he is flung through a concrete pillar, destroying it and his ribs in the process, Is that one would think I should know better than to trust certain people.
“Should” being the key word here, because Peter had decided to say screw it and throw his lot in with Doctor Otto Octavius anyway, despite knowing how that turned out for the other-Peters, and now, as he’s getting his ass kicked by all four of Doctor Octavius’s fake limbs, he can admit that, yeah, deciding to say “Fuck it, I need the money,” is probably not going to be a good enough reason to explain why any of this was worth it.
Maybe.
But, of course, in the end, Peter is able to defeat his annoying ass (again) and comes out victorious and triumphant. He then has a little chat with the aforementioned annoying ass that he really wasn’t lucid enough for but fuck-it-all concussions suck, and when Peter goes to bed that night as snug as a freaking bug after a job well done, he is tentatively excited for what the next day will bring (hopefully, it will consist of far less concussions). He then, of course, because this is Peter Parker and his shitty luck after all, wakes up to his (thankfully masked) face on the cover of the Daily Bugle with the wonderfully damning headline, “Masked Menace Destroys Warehouse!”
Which. Yes, Peter did definitely destroy a warehouse, but it was set to be demolished anyway, so was it really that big of a deal? Besides!!! He was just stopping the other guy, who was being far more destructive, so can someone give a fella a break around here? He thought that Jameson was through with his Spider-Man hatred!
Then, taking a closer look at both the photo (blurry and bad and definitely not one of Peter’s) and his memory of last night, Peter’s mind does the equivalent of a computer bluescreening paired with a hamster furiously running on its wheel and- oh shit.
Yeah, no, this one is probably (definitely) on Peter.
