Chapter 1
After the blip chaos came quickly, people came back without homes while the homeless now had homes. People started to fight than the whole flag smashers/Jhon Walker situation, it’s a mess but that’s not why Penny’s struggling, it’s been four years since than -even if it’s part of the problem- she’s struggling because she messed up the multi-verse and now no one remembers she exists. Minus Wade but Wade’s Wade so that doesn’t really count – and she has no idea what he meant why he said, “The author couldn’t come up with a proper reason for me to know this information itsy bitsy.” On top of that Anderw and Tobey (It’s their middle name because they just keep getting confused which numbers they were, and the other two are called Peter) remember but they’re her for another universe so that doesn’t count, or she isn’t counting it so we don’t care – she can’t see them anymore now.
She was finally -sorta- happy with her life knowing that even if they weren’t in her world that people cared for her. . . so obviously the supreme overlords of the multi-verses decided to shove the biggest curve ball into her life – again. By letting all the villains out of jail -free to roam- you know the people that make her life a literal living hell, while still recovering form the fight on the statue. Just her luck – the Parker luck - Her very shit luck. Honestly, she should get a break from everything, maybe a vacation? Either or is fine.
Penny, not wanting to be late, quickly changed into the arachnid suit -ignoring how the scratchy but cheap material rubbed on her skin rating it to Europe and back. Her suit wasn’t as good as before but she made it out of recycled thrift store fabric that was cheap so she could repair it without having to spend her food budget if she had to. She, muttering a few prayers to any good or goddess that would listen, tied her shoulder length hair into a low ponytail, clipped on her gas mask -she would love to say that because of her mutation she recovered quickly for clods an illness but unfortunately that isn’t true- and pulled her googles over her eyes to help hide her identity and keep dust out of her eyes.
Penny, opening her window, leaped out letting the wind fall around her for a few seconds before swinging of to find the first villain. She just hoped it wasn’t a heavy hitter like Rhino or sandman, Penny already broke to many bones in the last week, and they just recovered, she didn’t need anymore – please and thank you. The air wasn’t too cold for mid-February, but it was enough to put the young arachnid on edge more then she was already. Strangled shouts of chaos and fear radiated near the outskirts of Queens, her Queens. Penny speed up her swanning -she couldn’t let those people that where suffering suffer more when she could help- the rustic, metallic smell of blood filled the crisp Queens air.
Rounding the corner, her saw the mother fucking Rhino – literally one of the only people she didn’t want to fight - standing there with a civilian’s head clutched in his hand. “Any of you two move and I crush this woman’s skull in.” Well, that answered her question but the dam cocky tone in his voice infuriated her to no ends. He sounded smug like he just killed the avengers or something. On top of that he was threatening civilians, people that couldn’t protect themselves. The lady -looking around thirty-five, ginger and had tan skin- was shaking and from what she could tell from behind the four she was about the cry. The wind seemed to pick up as everyone’s favourite arachnid mentally planed on how to get the woman to safety and alive.
Silently jumping down, she webbed the Rhino’s hand and yanked it away from the woman giving her enough time to get the ginger lady out of there. Coming out of his super the Rhino wasted no time charging at her, springing out into action like the good soldier she was she swung out the way placing the middle-aged woman on the top of a near by roof top giving her a gentle nod before jumping down to face the metal furry.
He threw a left hook aiming to crack her mask -and probably her nose- but she was quicker dodging letting her senses take over her movements, blocking and dodging the clunky but deadly punches. Puches that would give her a few more broken bones then she would like to get right now – she still had to help clean up the rest of the escaped villains. She blocked an uppercut to the skull and managed to get a clean hit in his side partially disabling some of his suit. A few more good hits and he could cripple in his suit form it stopping. Just had to push through. The fight with Sytsevich droned on for five more minutes before she managed to taser him in the side shutting of his suit but not before he got a solid hit on her, dead square into her jaw sending her backwords into a building he ransacked earlier the concrete crushing down on her body.
She felt her gas mask crack as some of the metal slit into her cheek cutting a line that looked like a carved half smile starching from the corner of her bottom lip on the left side to the bottom of her left ear. Her nose was bloody and broken from the hit, it stung like being hit with a brick and the blood from the lip scar and her nose looked like she just murdered someone. The concrete above her crashed into her back slicing it open deep enough to show the fractured backbone, the creaking of her bones filled her ears. She weight on her shoulder had been enough to fully dislocate her left shoulder it hanging lip by her side. The arachnids breathing was slowly falling into nothingness as she felt more weight get crushed on to her, completely crushing her left leg. The sound alone was enough to drone out the grinding of the building collapsing on top of her. Plaster dust fell around her, she would admit she didn’t want to go out like this, but everyone’s time must come at some point. This was hers.
That’s when help showed up.
Daredevil would say he liked to work with arachnid, they stayed quite but when speaking could make themselves the loudest person in the room with a single word. On the few cases they worked together on he found himself caring more and more for the spider, they had strength and knew how to use it help others while getting what needs to be done, done. They had speed in a way they would put civilians first using insane bursts of speed to get them out of danger. Making sure they stayed safe, making sure that no child would be orphaned on their watch, making sure no parent would lose their child. Then on top of that kid was crazy cleaver, if a little stupid at times but their plans worker most -probably 75%- of the times, they saved him more than a few times when they worked together.
So that is why when he heard -*cough* foggy told him *cough*- that the spider kid was in danger, he put his suit on the fastest he’d ever done before to get to them. The kid needed help and a support team helpfully. The kid was more reckless than most people in this weird as hell community double their age -not that he knew their age, or gender or really anything other than that they were a last survivor- and they were too selfless for their age. But on top of that, they were one of his idiots and his idiots don’t think why it comes to saving lives -or at least the spider doesn’t think.
He could hear the chaos from the rooftops of Hell’s Kitchen, soft screams of civilians, the sounds of crumbling buildings and the sounds of active combat. That was the his kid alright. The smell of rusty blood filled the air followed by a crumbling of a building then a crackling electricity. He needed to speed up and quick. More crumbling in the background and a clash of metal, presumably rhinos’ suit crashing . . . into a wall? Into the floor? What in the hell -s kitchen- is happening over there?
He rushed there in time for the concrete crashed down to crash down on the kid. Grime and grit filled the air as he felt more people arrive at the scene of the collapsed building, there was -from what he could tell -a few x-men, Colossus and Wade all just arriving. The sound of the spider’s heartbeat was thin and hard to pinpoint other than just ‘under the rubble’. The heavy hitters started to rummage though rubble to find queens beloved vigilante, five long pain staking minutes of searching before hell’s kitchens vigilante could locate her shallow heartbeat, “There! Their there.” He all but screamed pointing to a puddle of collapsed concrete.
When they manage to dig Arachnid out from the collapse, it isn’t looking great – their back is sliced open dripping with hot red liquid and the bone sticking out of their body, their arm is dislocated and almost ripped out of the socket, their leg is completely snaped in half, her gas mask is cracked and falling apart half their face now carved with a half-smile, their nose is disformed, one of their front teeth has fallen out and their fangs had blood covering them, and their left hand is dislocated. It made daredevil take a step back to compose himself from the smell of the blood alone – he couldn’t imagine what it was like to see it.
