Friday, I'm in love

“Steven!”

Robin marges into work with a smile he now knows means she has thought of another horrendous but hilarious plan.

“Are your parents home next friday?”

Steve rolls his eyes at her, feigns annoyance and answers. “Buckley, you know by now that answer is no.”

Robin doesn’t let his demeanour dampen her excitement as she clocks in and sits on the counter right in front of him. It’s a quiet day in Family Video, which is good because Robin’s excitement would not mix well with the regular customer.

“O yeah, I sometimes forget how sad your homelife is.”

Steve sighs. “If you want something from me you’re going to have to be a bit nicer.”

Robin just smiles at him. "No, I don't. You like me too much to deny me anything.”

Steve hit her with the magazine he was reading, not going against her because he knows it’s true. He can’t say no to any of his friends.

“We’re having a costume party next friday. I need something to impress Vicky with and you,” She poked him as she spoke, “You need to do something about your crush on Eddie. It’s the perfect cover.”

Steve felt himself get a little red. He hadn’t had an actual crush on someone since Nancy. sure he had liked a few people, guys and girls alike, but most of that was just physical. Eddie was different. Eddie was someone he could picture himself being in a relationship with, being happy with. It scared the living shit out of him, with Nancy breaking his heart and all, but he felt like he was ready for something again.

“What kind of costume party are we talking about, Robin? I’m not doing your gender swap thing, although I would look good in a skirt.”

The bell rang, notifying them of a customer. Robin, however, didn’t seem to care.

“Oh, honey, please. You don’t have the legs for a skirt.”

Steve scoffed, acting offended as someone came to his rescue. “I would beg to differ, Buckley. Legs like those, in a skirt? Harrington would confuse all the men in his vicinity. Before you know it the entire basketball team will be on their knees in front of him.”

“Hello to you too, Eddie.” Steve said, in between laughing at Robin’s facial expressions.

“Steve, for the love of god, don’t show up in a skirt. That’s not an image I think I can ever be cured from.”

Steve laughed as Eddie made it even worse. “Robin is just scared she’ll finally succumb to the Harrington charm. Not even a lesbian can reject it.”

Robin made a gag noise as she jumped down from the counter to fully face Eddie. “You have ruined Steve for me. How could you? Now I have to find another mental support jock.”

"Ah, Robbie, you know there’s no replacing me. Who else would put up with all your pining and rambling?”

Robin just left after that, leaving Steve and Eddie, who were still laughing, alone together. Steve mentally cursed her for leaving him with Eddie so unprompted. Steve needed at least a little preparation for a situation like this.

“I don’t think I’ll be wearing a skirt anytime soon. No one could handle it.”

Eddie scoffed. “Big talk, Stevie. Who says I couldn’t handle it?”

Steve just looked at him. “Dude, you’re gay enough to pine over anyone who looks ever so slightly slutty. Remember that one time I opened the door in my old gym shorts? You nearly fucking fainted.”

Eddie turned bright red as he hid his face behind his hair. He had a tendency to do that whenever he got flustered. It was really cute and Steve aimed to get that reaction from him as often as possible.

“I- It was hot okay! Outside, I mean. It was hot outside. I had a heatstroke, I nearly fainted from that. You weren’t the cause!”

Steve laughed at him which just made him even more flustered. “Sure, Munson. Whatever helps you sleep at night.”

Robin walked back in and took Steve away. Eddie just stared at them, clearly confused.

“I still haven’t told you the theme for the party but I wanted you to invite Eddie on your own. We’re dressing as our queer awakenings. That’s Danny Zuko for you, I assume?”

Steve hit her with the magazine he was still holding. “I told you that once, when we were both high out of our minds. Why do you remember that, but you forget where my spare key is hidden even though you use it all the time?”

“Hey! That was one time! Okay maybe a couple of times. But any information that contributes to bullying you gets saved in my long term memory forever.”

“Whatever, Buckley. I’m excited to see what embarrassing queer awakening you had.”

Robin winked at him as she left again. “I’m going to rewind some tapes in the back. I’ll leave you and Eddie to it. Keep it PG though, there are cameras here.”

Steve flipped her off as he went back to Eddie, who was still standing by the counter. “What was that about?”

Eddie always seemed slightly jealous whenever Steve and Robin would go off on their own. Steve never really understands why. Maybe he’s just jealous of how close they are. It’s understandable, Steve would be too. He went behind the counter again, standing in front of Eddie and leaning towards him. He immediately turned a little red again.

“What are you doing next week on Friday?”

The colour returned to his cheeks as he hid his face behind his hair again.

“Nothing yet. Why?”

Eddie was so cute when he got all flustered, Steve couldn’t really keep himself together. He reached out for Eddie’s hand, which made him release the strand of hair. Steve started fidgeting with the rings on Eddie’s hands.

“Robin and I are throwing a costume party. I would like it if you could come. Take a couple of your friends with you. The theme is to dress as your queer awakening.” He made eye contact as he said the last part. Eddie attempted to look away but seemed pulled in by Steve’s gaze.

“What- uh, what are you going to dress up as?”

Steve shook his head. “I’m not telling you, sweetheart, it’s a surprise.”

Eddie took a deep breath as Steve smiled at him. He enjoyed it way too much to flirt with Eddie. He basically knew Eddie liked him too, he had known for quite a while. He was just waiting for the right moment to do something about it. He also kind of wanted to see how long it would take Eddie to realise Steve liked him back. Steve had been flirting with him non stop for weeks, and Eddie still didn’t seem to catch on.

“Ahum, uh, well. Of course I’ll come. Now if you would excuse me, I have a costume to put together.”

Steve laughed as he released Eddie’s hand, realising just in time he had taken one of Eddie’s rings.

“Wait, Eddie, I still have your-”

Eddie was already out of the door before Steve could even finish his sentence. He just slipped the ring onto his finger and hoped he would remember to give it back someday.

“You’re going to kill him one of these days.” Robin said as she joined him. They both just stared at Eddie, who sped through the street in his half broken down van.

“If you’d just let me spray your hair black we wouldn’t have a problem here.”

Steve shook his head violently. “You’re not using some shitty black hair spray on my hair, you’ll ruin it.”

Robin and Steve were walking down the aisles of the local supermarket, which also served as a drugstore and basically anything you could possibly need. They were searching for some kind of semi permanent black hair dye for Steve’s Danny Zuko costume.

“It’s either a spray or it’s box dye that’ll stick for a few weeks.” Robin argued, looking up at him from where she was kneeled by the different kinds of hair dye.

“I mean, I could just keep my hair blonde. I don’t need to have black hair.”

Robin was now the one to violently shake her head. “Absolutely not. I’m using hair dye for the costume, so are you. If you want the one that’ll stick for a couple of weeks, I’ll get one too. We’ll both have black hair, it’ll be a bonding experience.”

Steve rolled his eyes. “Why can’t you just settle for blonde?”

Robin got up with two boxes of hair dye in her hands. “Because I’m a theatre kid, we don’t do things halfway. This is all natural hair dye, it won’t damage your hair as much. Do you want that?”

“There’s no way of convincing you my hair is fine like this? It has to be black?”

Robin excitedly nodded as she held up the box for him.

“Okay, sure, let’s do it. It’ll piss off my parents once they see it, so that’s an added bonus.”

***

“We have to dye it now, Steve. People will be arriving in less than 2 hours and we still have to wash it out and get ready with the rest of our outfits. Hurry up.”

Steve was hesitant. His hair was sacred to him. To kind of mess it up just for a party was a real sacrifice. He’d do anything for Robin, though.

“I’ll do yours first, Rob, since I actually know what I’m doing. Pay attention as I do it.”

Steve has actually done this quite some times before. Being friends with a bunch of teenagers can be fun. El and Max reinvented their styles last summer and decided they wanted to dye their hair. Knowing their parents would never do it, they came to Steve. The first time was not perfect, but Steve got it down relatively quickly. He got out the black hair dye Robin had picked out and started the process.

Once the hair dye was equally distributed along Robin’s hair, it was time to leave it for a while. Here was where Steve’s nightmares became a reality. Robin was going to mess it up. He loved Robin, but he was also realistic. Just as he was bracing himself for the reality of his messed up hair, the doorbell rang. Robin smiled at him, which was a bad sign.

He opened the door and saw Max and El, both looking worryingly giddy. “We’re here to dye your hair. Robin called us in. We’ve done it a few times for girls in our class, we know what we’re doing.”

“O god. Okay, come in.”

They all headed upstairs. “Robin, what the hell.”

Robin started laughing. “What? They’ve seen you do it with their hair quite a few times. Plus I’ve seen the girls they’ve done it for. Their hair looks really good. You’re much safer with them than with me.”

Steve sighed and got ready to get his hair slightly less ruined by two teenagers.

“Don’t worry, Steve, It’ll look fine.” Max said with a grin. He really wasn’t ready for this. At least the girls will get to enjoy themselves. God knows they need it after all they’ve been through.

When everything was done and both Steve and Robin had washed out the hair dye, Steve was bracing himself for disappointment. He looked in the mirror and saw.. A pretty damn good dye job.

“Damn, girls, you did a good job. I guess you don’t need me to dye your hair for you anymore.”

El looked disappointed and Max immediately started protesting. “You do it so much better than we ever could, you need to keep doing it for us.”

“Okay, okay, I’ll keep doing it for you. But only for you two.”

Robin looked at him with a pout. “Okay, for you too Buckley.”

“Now, kids, skedaddle. I love you, but this is not a party for you. Maybe once you’re old enough. If I catch any of you sneaking in I’ll revoke your pool privileges for the summer.”

Max and El nodded, giggling as they made their way out of Steve’s house. He loved those girls, but he sure as fuck wasn’t babysitting tonight.

***

As Steve got ready to put on his costume, way too tight black pants, a white shirt and a newly bought leather jacket, he noticed a lot of his clothes were missing.

“Robbie, you need to give me back some of the shirts you borrowed. I’m missing way more than is normal. No wonder people think we’re together, you own like half my wardrobe.”

Robin made a gag noise. “Please, don’t remind me of the fact that people think I like you. That’s gross. I’m almost done, what about you?”

“Only the hair and then I’ll be done.”

They rejoined in the bathroom as Steve took Robin’s costume in. “Wait, Kate Bush in that bat dress? That’s so unfair! I thought your queer awakening would be Daphne from scooby doo or something stupid like that, this is actually cool.”

Robin laughed at him as she took out a brush to make her hair look a bit wilder. “Don’t worry, Danny Zuko, there will be a lot of people with way more embarrassing queer awakenings than you. Also, the fact that you immediately knew who I was makes me proud to be your friend. The jacket does look good on you, by the way.”

“Why thank you, I didn’t know you could be nice to me.”

Robin hit him with the brush. Steve just rolled his eyes and started styling his hair to look exactly like Danny Zuko’s, down to the stupid curl in the front.

Just as he was finished, the doorbell rang, letting them know the first guests had arrived.

Steve and Robin ran downstairs, opening the door and greeting almost every member of the Hawkin’s high theatre department. Steve did see a couple people dressed as Scooby Doo characters, which made him and Robin laugh. Vickie entered last of the group, dressed up as Rizzo from Grease. Steve immediately liked her.

“See, Robin, heaving your queer awakening to Grease is not that weird!”

Vickie laughed as she took in Steve’s costume. “Well, hello Danny. I must say, I understand where you’re coming from.”

“Thank you, Rizzo. I also understand where you’re coming from. Grease is a great movie for us bisexuals.”

Vickie smiled at him. “It really is. I have to say, Steve, I’m proud of you. When I was a freshman and I saw you roaming the halls with Tommy H., I never expected you to be someone who was so open about his sexuality as to throw a queer awakening costume party.”

Steve smiled back at her. He saw Robin out of the corner of his eyes, looking a bit uncomfortable. “Thank you Vickie. Although I can’t take all the credit. Robin came up with the idea, I just provided the location and enough alcohol to forget how ridiculous I look. Don’t let Robin talk you into anything, you’ll end up getting your hair dyed black by two teenagers as you wait for your home to be infested with theatre and band kids, no offence.”

Vickie laughed. “None taken, we’re a specific kind of people. You’ll fit right in though.”

Steve gasped. “How dare you? Go, conspire with Robin, I don’t want to see your face for at least 10 minutes. How could a fellow Grease fan hurt me like this?”

“Just as dramatic as the rest of us.” Vickie added before leaving with Robin.

Steve decided to just mingle with some of Robin’s friends until Eddie showed up. He started talking to this guy who was dressed as Robert Smith in the music video for “The Lovecats”. Steve actually loved the cure, his music taste was pretty diverse, at least that’s what Eddie called it on a good day. Steve honestly didn’t even listen to ABBA that much but he would do anything to get Eddie started on his music rants, which was why he always carried an ABBA cassette on him.

“Robert Smith, huh? I’m impressed.”

The guy looked up at him and smiled. “Well, well. Steve Harrington dressed as Danny Zuko. I gotta say, you look even better than John Travolta.”

Steve felt a blush creep up and he just laughed. “Why thank you, although I must disagree. John Travolta will always be the better Danny Zuko. I assume Robin brought you in? I’m sorry but I have to say I don’t recognize you.”

The guy laughed at him, pulling at Steve’s jacket while talking to him. It reminded Steve of what some of the girls he was talking to used to do. This guy was flirting with him. If Steve didn’t have his eyes on someone else he might’ve indulged in it.

“Yeah, I’m friends with Robin. We did a couple of plays together, I’m the stage manager. We didn’t exactly run in the same circles. I gotta say, being in the famous Harrington house for a queer party was not something I had expected to do.”

Steve laughed, taking a step back from the man. He wasn’t uncomfortable, he just wasn’t really interested. “If you’d been to any of the other Harrington house parties you would probably have been surprised by how queer it actually got. I gotta say, I kissed more jocks than some of the most popular girls from my year.”

The guy laughed at him, taking the hint Steve dropped by taking a step back and keeping his distance. There wasn’t any awkward tension but a boundary had been set and they were both respecting it. “Oh, wow. I would want to say that I kissed more jocks than you did but now I’m starting to question it. How many jocks did you kiss, Harington?”

Steve put on an exaggerated thinking face as he started counting on his hands. “Are we talking just the Hawkin’s high jocks? Or are opposing teams also counted?”

The guy just started laughing. “I can’t believe I’m talking to Steve Harrington about how many boys we’ve kissed.”

“Oh, we’re talking just boys now? Because that number is way higher.”

The guy just spit out his drink while shaking his head. “Okay just tell me this, which one of the Hawkins high jocks was the best kisser?”

Steve thought for a second before answering. “Hmm, that’s a tough one. It’s definitely not either of the Tommy’s, although Tommy C kisses way better than Tommy H. I think it was the Carver boy, not Jason, his older brother. He was a year above me. I don’t know if you ever knew him.”

The guy just stared at him. “You kissed Christopher Carver?”

Steve saw Robin walking alone just then, he knew he had to cut the conversation off. “More than once. Anyways, I have to go. It was nice talking to you, although I didn’t catch your name.”

The guy was still staring in disbelief. “It’s Jackson. Uh, Colin Jackson.”

Steve shook his hand before leaving. “Nice to meet you, Colin. Hope to see you soon again. Enjoy yourself tonight.”

With that Steve ran after Robin, who he just saw walking upstairs. He saw her turn the corner to his bedroom. He knew something was off, she usually didn’t just leave a party, especially not when Vickie was around. He found her laying on his bed. He joined her as soon as he entered the room.

“Careful, Zuko, you’ll damage your hair before Eddie can even see it.”

Steve laughed. “Damaging the hair is less important than knowing what’s going on with you. Talk to me birdie.”

Robin turned to him. There were tears forming in her eyes. “She’s here.”

Steve looked at her, clearly confused. “Yeah, Vickie’s here, we saw her enter together. You were talking to her the entire time you were downstairs. How drunk are you?”

Robin shook her head. “No, not Vickie. Tammy. Tammy’s here.”

Steve just stared at her. “Tammy? Tammy Thompson? What is she doing at a queer houseparty?”

Robin sighed as she looked at him. “Some idiot mentioned they were going to a party at your house this friday. She thought it was a regular party and decided to invite herself. When I approached her together with Vickie, completely surprised she would show up at a queer houseparty, it clicked for her what was going on. She got this look in her eyes, this disgusted look, she looked at me and said something about always knowing I was a dyke.”

Steve immediately shot up. “No. Absolutely not. She can’t just come here and insult my best friend. Where’s Vickie, why did she leave you on your own?”

Robin took his arm to stop him from storming off. “Don’t worry, she didn’t leave me. She told me to go as she started screaming at Tammy. I think she’s still going.”

Steve smiled at her. “Vickie’s a good girl. She’ll be an amazing girlfriend once you get your head out of your ass and ask her. Are you okay?”

Robin nodded. “I just needed a little bit of time to empty my head.”

“Do you need me to stay? Because I will, but otherwise I’m kicking Tammy out.”

Robin just laughed and pulled him into a hug. “Go, I’ll be fine. I’ll be down in a bit, save Vickie from committing a crime, please. I can’t have a girlfriend who’s in prison.”

Steve nodded and ran downstairs. He saw Vickie still going off against a very angry looking Tammy Thompson. WIth Vickie there was someone else. Eddie was going in on her too, Steve didn’t know when he had arrived, but he was more than happy Eddie was helping Vickie.

“Just wait until Steve gets here, he will want me here.”

Steve entered with an air of complete aloofness. “What’s going on here? What on earth are you doing here Thompson?”

Tammy saw him and her entire demeanour changed. “Hi, Steve. I heard you were having a party, can’t believe I didn’t get an invite.”

Steve scoffed. “And why would I invite you?”

Tammy lost some of her confidence as she stared at him. He could see Eddie grinning from the corner of his eyes.

“What, you invite all these band nerds, theatre kids and queers, but you don’t invite an old friend?”

Steve sighed, crossed his arms and looked at her in disgust. “I can assure you we were never friends. Just because you worshipped the ground I stood on doesn’t mean you have earned a single grain of my attention. You’re wasting my time here, so leave. And just for the record, if I ever hear the words you just said to these people, to Robin, leave your mouth ever again, I’ll make sure everyone knows you fucked Christopher Carver and told him you wished he was me. You’re not welcome here, I would appreciate it if I never had to see your annoying face ever again.”

He stepped closer and bowed towards her. “Oh, by the way, Christopher Carver said I fucked him better than you ever could. You’re a joke, Thompson.”

Tammy fell quiet and left as quickly as she could, trying to hide the tears that were forming in her eyes. Vickie turned to him with nothing but absolute delight on her face.

“Steve goddamn Harrington, you are a legend. Also, I have follow up questions for later, but now I gotta find Robin. Do you know where she went?”

Steve laughed as he pointed upstairs. “Use the guest bedroom if you’re planning on doing anything funky. I love Robin, but if I find out you two fucked in my bed I’m murdering both of you.”

As he said that, Vickie turned bright red and ran upstairs. Most of the people involved in the Tammy situation were already drawn back into their own conversations, no one really caring about her anymore. He did hear some “Goddamn Harrington’s” Here and there, followed by something about him being way cooler than they already thought. Which was doing way too much good for his ego. He saw Colin giving him a thumbs up and smiled at him.

Eddie was still there, Steve hadn’t had the time to look at what Eddie was wearing. He suddenly knew where all his clothes had gone. Eddie was dressed exactly like him.

“Are you dressed like-” He tried to say but got cut off by Eddie’s rambling.

“What the actual fuck, Steve. You really threw her out, no, you didn’t just throw her out, you ruined her. You actually ruined her with just your words. You didn’t even have to fight her or anything. Would you fight a girl? There’s some ode against that or something, right? But I mean she was being a dick so maybe those rules don’t apply? And you did all of that dressed as Danny Zuko? God, Steve, are you trying to kill me here? That was so fucking hot. I would not survive being on your bad side. Jesus, that poor girl, she just got outdiva’d by Steve the hair Harrington, who would’ve thought? Wait, did you say that you fucked Chritopher goddamn Carver? What the actual fuck, who are you? This isn’t fair anymore.”

Steve laughed at him as he handed Eddie a drink he had been making. Eddie took it and basically chugged it. Good thing Steve didn’t put too much alcohol in it, he wanted them both to be sober for the rest of the night, if that was even slightly possible.

Steve bowed forwards, levelling his lips with Eddie’s ear. “Wanna go upstairs?”

Eddie looked like he was about to faint. Steve nearly died keeping his laugh in. Eddie was incredibly adorable like this. Seeing Eddie in Steve’s clothes was doing something good for Steve, to say the least. Steve took Eddie’s hand and led him upstairs to his room.

“So, who exactly are you supposed to be, Eddie?”

Eddie was still somewhat out of place as they were sitting down in Steve’s room, away from all the eyes. Steve wanted their moment to be for them alone.

“Uh, I, uh.”

Steve laughed. “Use your words, sweetheart. I know those are my clothes.”

Eddie didn’t look at him. “Well, then you know who I’m supposed to be.”

Steve stood up from where he was sitting on the bed. He walked up to Eddie and tilted his chin up, so Eddie was forced to look at him.

“I’m going to have to hear you say it, my love. I want to hear the story.”

Eddie swallowed loudly before being able to answer. Staring into Eddie’s eyes made him more certain than ever that this was going to be their moment.

“My second senior year, 1984. I saw you in the parking lot, digging into Tommy H. You had this aloof look on your face, you were definitely being a bitch to him. He deserved it too. You had just broken up with Nancy, there were clearly some frustrations you needed to let out. Tommy was the unlucky subject of your aggression. I heard you, the things you said, the tone you used, it was so fucking hot. I had been struggling with my sexuality for quite some time but that was the moment I knew. I looked at you and I just knew I would never feel the things I felt for you for a woman. I knew I wanted someone like you, or I guess just you, to be my everything. Skip to two years later, you stripping on that goddamn boat, ready to sacrifice yourself, later fighting the bats, biting a bat’s head off.. I never recovered. I’ve been wrapped around your finger since that day in ‘84, it only got worse over the years. Goddamnit, Steve, I’ve wanted you for so long. I wanted to feel you, taste you, know what makes you come undone, how to make you sweat, how to make you cry, how to make you make all kinds of ungodly noises. I wanted to hear you scream, beg, moan, anything and everything. I’ve laid awake so many nights just thinking of a way to get what I wanted. You’re not easy to get, Harrington.”

Steve nearly collapsed after hearing Eddie talk. It took everything in him to not immediately kiss him. “Tell me what you want right now, sweetheart.”

Eddie looked at him, taking a step closer, wrapping his arms around Steve’s neck. “I want you. All of you.”

Their faces were inches apart as they kept eye contact. “Then take it.”

Eddie surged forward, pulling Steve into a kiss and not letting him go. Steve felt Eddie’s tongue against his lips and quickly opened his mouth. Their kiss went deeper and it felt so good. Eddie pushed Steve back until the back of his knees hit the bed. Eddie, while still kissing him, pulled off Steve’s leather jacket.

“God, you looked so hot in that. You should wear leather more often, baby.”

Steve kissed him again, fumbling with the edges of Eddie’s shirt and pulling it off, only breaking the kiss to get the shit off of Eddie. “You look hotter in my clothes than I do, that’s just unfair, Eds.”

Eddie laughed, pulling off Steve’s shirt as well. “You don’t get to talk about what’s unfair, Stevie. I had to keep myself from jumping you the moment I saw you walking in with those pants. God you look hot today, not just today but especially today.”

Steve laughed. “Less talking, Eddie, waited far too long for this.”

Eddie got a somewhat hungry look in his eyes as he pushed Steve down on the bed and climbed on top of him. He kissed him harder than he had before and Steve nearly drowned in the feeling. Steve let his hands travel down Eddie’s back as Eddie moved from Steve’s lips to his necks.

“You’re going to leave marks if you keep going like that.”

Eddie bit down on a spot in Steve’s neck that made him see stars. “Good, that way everyone will know you’re mine now.”

Fuck that was hot. Steve felt his pants getting tighter around his legs. Eddie laughed. “Ah, I see what gets you going. Do you like the idea of me owning you, sweetheart?”

Steve nodded, unable to speak with Eddie rolling his hips down into his lap.

“Use your words, sweetheart. I want to hear you struggling to keep it together. I want to hear you come undone for me.”

“Fuck, Eddie.”

Eddie laughed as he moved down from Steve’s neck, down his chest until he was undoing Steve’s pants. Steve made some noises he never really made before as Eddie palmed him through his underwear.

“Tell me what you want, Stevie.”

Steve moaned as Eddie moved his hand up and down his bulge.

“I want you to- ah, Eddie, fuck me, please.”

Eddie smirked at him. “God you’re pretty when you beg. Do it more.”

“Please Eddie, I can’t-”

Eddie started pulling his pants off and Steve nearly cried as he got ready. Everything with Eddie was so good it only took a few minutes for both of them to come.

“Fuck, you’re so good. The girls didn’t lie in their gossip.”

Steve laughed. “You listened to what they had to say?”

Eddie smiled at him. “Sweetheart, by now you should know how obsessed I am with you.”

Steve moved closer to him as they were laying in bed together, facing him with their faces close enough only a small movement would pull them into another kiss.

“Took you long enough to do something about it.”

Eddie’s expression changed to something nearly unreadable. “I see you’ve got your attitude back. You weren’t complaining about how long it took me earlier, are you already in for a second round? My god are you something.”

Steve laughed at him. He leaned forward and kissed him softly. There was no rush, now he knew he could do this any time he liked.

“However much I would like that, there’s still a party downstairs that I’m sort of hosting. It would be rude to disappear for the rest of the evening, wouldn’t it?”

Eddie groaned. Steve got up and got dressed again. He went to the bathroom to try and rescue his hair a bit. He saw the marks Eddie left and knew everyone would see them. He didn’t mind. He liked belonging to someone.

“Come on, let’s go. We can show everyone how hot you look in my clothes.”

Eddie laughed. “You aren’t afraid of a little competition then?”

Steve wrapped his arms around Eddie’s waist and pulled him close. “For as far as I know you’re obsessed with me. I don’t think I have to worry about my boyfriend running off with someone else.”

Eddie blinked and turned slightly red. “Boyfriend?”

Steve laughed. “Unless you don’t want to be bound to me, I would say we’re boyfriends. We waited long enough.”

Eddie just kissed him. “Of course we’re boyfriends.”

Bonus:

“Steve! It’s story time! You have to spill what happened between you and Christopher Carver, I’ve been dying to find out ever since you told Colin he was the best kisser out of the jocks and told Tammy he said you fucked better than her. Gross, by the way.”

Vickie was sitting in Robin’s lap. They had their own moment at Steve’s party and had been together ever since. Eddie was laying in Steve’s lap but sat up as soon as the words ‘best kisser’ were dropped.

“I’m not the best kisser out of the boys you kissed?”

Steve sighed. “Eddie, she said out of the jocks. You’re not a jock, probably the furthest from. You’re the best kisser in general.”

Eddie seemed somewhat happier. “I’m going to become a jock so I’m also the best kisser out of all the jocks.”

Steve shook his head. “Whatever you say, sweetheart.”

Vickie threw a pillow at him. “Steve! Story time! You kissed and fucked a Carver, that deserves a story time!”

Robin chimed in from behind Vicky. “I don’t know if we want to hear this. Steve is really gross.”

Both Eddie and Steve responded with a somewhat offended “Hey!” Which just made Robin reiterate her point.

“Are you guys sure you want to hear it?”

Vickie screamed yes, Robin shook her head violently and Eddie stayed quiet.

“Eddie, he’s no longer in my life, you’re more important to me than he ever was.”

Eddie thought it over. “Okay, I would like to know how you got the straightest guy on the football team to fall for you. That sounds impossible, even for you.”

“Okay, here we go I guess. During one of my famous house parties, while my parents were long gone, we were playing spin the bottle. For us it was never really limited to boys kissing girls. The girls kissed girls to impress the boys, the boys kissed boys because of underlying desires and to prove they weren’t pussies. It was Christopher’s turn and the bottle landed on me. He just went for it, it wasn’t my first time kissing a boy so I didn’t hold back. I was already aware that I liked guys so it wasn’t too weird for me to enjoy it. Christopher got freaked out, though, leaving the game shortly afterwards. I caught him kissing Tammy and before I knew it they were together. It didn’t bother me, I got with Nancy shortly after and didn’t really think about him anymore. I saw him looking at me all strange whenever I was holding Nancy’s hand in the hallway or kissing her, but I just thought there was probably another reason for it. Didn’t really think about it too much. Skip forward to the Christmas break of ‘84. Nancy and I had broken up that Halloween and I was practically desperate for something at that point. So was Christopher, who was back in town. I used the little reputation I had left to weasel my way into Tammy’s christmas party, who was all too happy to see me. Christopher was there too. I ended up under the mistletoe with him and everyone started cheering us on to just kiss, so we did. I saw that look in his eyes again and knew what he wanted. So did I. So I made it clear to him where I was going, alone, and he followed me. We messed around, got drunk and high on some weed he smuggled in and fucked, like, a lot. He showed up to my house everyday after that party, telling me he had broken up with Tammy and just wanted me. We messed around but it was clear he wanted a relationship and I didn’t. I mean, Nancy broke my heart and that wasn’t too long ago back then. So at the end of christmas break I broke it off, telling him how it had been fun but we weren’t looking for the same things. He got all weepy and shit, really threw me off. I just told him to leave, how it would be better for the both of us. That’s when he got mad and told me to just go fuck Tammy since that’s all she had wanted even when she was with him. I was being bitchy and asked him if that wasn’t the same thing he had wanted since ‘83. He punched me for that and just left. I haven’t seen him since that day, I just hope I won’t see him ever again because he was not a good dude.”

Vickie was downright laughing by the end of it. “Steve, you’re such a bitch it’s honestly amazing. It was shitty that he punched you, but to be honest I can understand why he did.”

Steve smiled at her. “Yeah I know. I wasn’t my best self back then.”

Eddie stared at him. “God what I would’ve given to see you say that to him.”

Robin made a gag sound. “We get it, Eddie. You have a weird thing for Steve being a bitch. I swear to god you’re not allowed to come in Family Video anymore, that’s where Steve’s bitchyness thrives and I don’t want to die of disgust.”

Eddie pouted at her.

“Don’t worry, darling. We’ve only been together for like, a week. I’ll be a bitch to you sometime soon.”

Eddie turned to him with a weird look in his eyes. “Don’t make promises if you don’t intend to keep them.”

“Gross! Get a room!” Robin yelled, hiding behind Vickie. Vickie laughed and made sure to protect her from what was going on between Steve and Eddie.

“Oh, we will.”
