Loki had taken over the White House after suggesting that the current president should retire. Earth, by that point, was not putting up a fight, so the president took his suggestion gracefully and retired. Who knew what he was doing now? The point was, he was out of office, and now Loki was in charge.
One day, Loki was in the Oval Office when he noticed one of his assistants, a young male of about 25, standing off in the corner laughing at something on his phone.
“You there!” he barked, striding up to the assistant. “What are you doing?”
The assistant looked up, startled, and fear entered his eyes when he saw Loki. He quickly fumbled to put his phone away, but Loki snatched it out of his hand before he could.
“I-It’s nothing, sir, I swear-” the assistant stammered.
Loki glanced at the screen, then looked further, because… was that him? No, it was a crude costume of him, dancing to some inane mortal dance song. The assistant caught a glimpse of the video and smirked.
“Explain,” Loki demanded. “What app is this?”
“T-TikTok, s-sir,” the assistant stammered.
“TikTok? What is that?”
“It’s an app where people share funny videos, sir,” the assistant said. “If your videos are really funny or if the subject matter is good, then you get more popular.”
Loki took this in. He’d been having some problems with his PR campaign - could this help?
“What’s the primary audience of this application? Is it worldwide?” Loki asked.
“Um--I’ve seen videos with captions in other languages, so probably quite a few countries, if not worldwide. Like, maybe not North Korea.” North Korea was a troublesome one. Loki was still working on getting its leaders to cooperate with him. “But, like, North America and Europe, definitely. Oh, and mostly younger people use it,” the assistant added. “You could download it on your phone and check it out…?”
Loki handed the assistant his phone back. “Thank you for this information. Now get back to work. And in the future, if I catch you on your phone during work hours, I won’t be so forgiving.” The assistant nodded, and quickly disappeared.
Hmmmmm… TikTok… Loki made a mental note to download it later.
