I promise it's not your fault.

It was just meant to be a hangout together at the cafe, then they were going to the fair in town.

---

The choir were at the cafe. They had been there since before it had opened as they had spent the night at Constance's the night before. They sat in a booth in the corner as Constance was on shift. The plan was relatively simple:

-wait for Constance to finish her shift

-eat lunch at the cafe

-get changed at Ricky's

-go to the fair

-movie night/sleepover at Ricky's.

Foolproof. That's what the plan was. Foolproof. The choir were having so much fun, laughing at random stuff. Penny was hugged up to Ocean for most of the morning.

Constance would talk to them at every chance, most of the time to secretly complain about some customers who ordered something not on the menu. What? It's not like she could refuse! That would be rude!

"So, what movies should we watch tonight?" Noel asked

"Anything but the blue angel again, I'm actually begging you!" Ocean complained.

"Fine, how about Titanic? We all like that film?" Noel responded

"I mean it's not historically accurate but I can excuse it for Leonardo DiCaprio" Ricky signed, making everyone laugh loudly, causing them to get strange looks from other tables, which caused them to bow their heads and laugh silently into their hands.

"Ok so, Titanic? Mischa, we are not watching saw 5 again!" Penny complained.

"What?! Is cool movie! Ok, what about me and Noel share movie idea? That is easy! Penny, your turn" Mischa responded as Ricky noted this down on his phone.

"I'm fine with Do Revenge? I watched it before and it wasn't that bad" Penny responded.

"Ocean, please not sleeping beauty" Noel begged.

"Fine, how about Snow white?" Ocean asked, to which hums of agreement could be heard through the group.

"What will be yours, space Jesus?" Mischa asked Ricky

"I'll find one, I can't think at the moment" Ricky replied.

Soon after, Constance sat down with them, looking slightly disheveled after an early morning shift.

"Connie, which movie do you want to watch tonight?" Penny asked

"How about but I'm a cheerleader! We haven't watched that movie for ages!" Constance begged.

Ricky wrote it down in his notes, as he was doing that, Ms Blackwood came over, with a large portion of fries to share and a cupcake for every choir member.

Lunch was fun, they finished the fries quickly before eating the cupcakes. Everyone laughing as Penny smudged icing on Ocean's nose. They packed up quickly and left, Ocean and Penny walking hand in hand. They got ready to cross the road, well, everyone but Mischa, walking straight across.

"Mischa that was really dangerous! You should've looked!" Ocean nagged, as her, Noel, Constance and Ricky walked across the road, Penny falling slightly behind.

No one could prepare the screams that filled the air moments later. The choir looked behind them and saw Penny on the floor. A car had come out of nowhere and hit Penny, and driving off! She was conscious (barely). Ocean did the only thing she knew to do, move Penny onto the sidewalk and check her for anything life threatening. Penny sat on the sidewalk, Ocean checking over her as the rest of the choir panicked.

"What do I do?!" Mischa asked, trying to not sound panicked.

"Call 911 you moron!" Noel said angrily as he grabbed his phone to dial for someone to come.

Constance and Ricky ran back to the cafe to grab Constance's parents, they were medically trained (somewhat) so they would (somewhat) know what to do.

Mischa sat at Penny's side, telling her random stories in Ukrainian to take her mind off of everything, it really wasn't working, but he was trying!

Ocean took off one of her socks as she used it as a temporary bandage (she read about it once when she was seven and the knowledge just kinda stuck with her).

"Penny, I'm so sorry! If I wasn't getting annoyed at Mischa you would be ok! God this is my fault I'm so so sorry" Ocean apologized, before she felt a hand on her face.

"I promise it's not your fault." Penny managed to whispers before they could hear the sirens of an ambulance in the distance.

---

That's how they ended up in hospital on a Saturday evening, waiting for Penny to get out of surgery. They found traces of internal bleeding, as well as a pretty badly broken arm.

The choir sat in the waiting room, not saying a word.

Noel's fresh nail polish had been completely picked of by now.

Mischa had earphones in, probably trying to distract himself as he stared blankly at the floor.

Ricky was on his phone, texting his parents that he was in fact ok, before scrolling through his entire gallery how ever many times over.

Constance was staring blankly at the floor, undoing her hair then redoing it, just to keep her hands busy.

Ocean sat in the chair, just looking at the floor. Trying to zone out, but her mind kept focus on every noise that seemed to be in the waiting room. Weather it was a cough, a pen being clicked, some one writing, someone texting. She hears every noise, all at once. Trying to make herself feel calm. She couldn't. Her girlfriend was just hit by a car, who can be calm in that situation? Penny's words stuck with her. It wasn't her fault. She shouldn't blame herself. Why was she?

"Anyone here for Penny Lamb?" A doctor asked to the waiting room, interrupting everyone's train of thought.

"Yeah us" Noel replied as the rest of the choir stood up, waiting for news on how the surgery went. It was good or bad, and they knew which one they wanted.

"The surgery went well! If everything goes to plan, Penny should be out of here in 2 weeks at most" the doctor said, optimistically.

Everyone just breathed a sigh of relief.

"Can we see her?" Mischa asked, still breathing out.

"Yes, just follow me if you will" the doctor said, everyone doing as he said.

The choir were scared of what they would find, what if she was practically braindead, relying on machines for the rest of her life? What if she actually wasn't good and the doctor was joking.

This wasn't true, the choir walked in and found Penny sitting up in bed, drinking some weird liquid in front of her, with one arm, one leg and a finger in a cast, a bandage on her head to cover stitches.

Ocean was the first to go up to her. She wanted to smother her in hugs whilst planting kisses all over her face, but she knew she couldn't do that it wouldn't be safe. So, she opted for holding her none broken hand, before sobbing. She was so happy Penny was ok it's insane.

"Hey it's ok! I'm right here!" Penny comforted, leaning into Ocean for a hug.
