Hold you close.

Mischa sat in bed one night, texting Noel. One of the few good things to come from the Cyclone was him and Noel officially getting together, it was probably his favorite memory. It made him think, how different would his life had been if he wasn't in that accident?

Everyone used to be scared of him, he never showed anyone the true side of him, he had a long distance girlfriend, some shitty friends. He was overall such a shitty person.

Then he remembered something, he had shown his true self to someone before the accident. His mother.

---

He was 14. He had just come back from school, he had been doing research on something recently. He realized how much he liked a boy in his class, but he also liked a girl. He hated it. It led to a full blown crisis. It was one of the lowest points of his life. He had to keep it secret.

He felt bad for keeping it a secret for one person though, his mother. His dear mother. He can't keep anything from her. She'll find out eventually anyway, she knows his computer password and everything so his search history was at jeopardy.

They sat down together for dinner, Mischa had been planning this for a while, so he was incredibly nervous. His mother would never judge him, but he still knew this could go wrong.

"Mother" Mischa started, no going back now.

"Yes?"

"I have a big secret to tell you, and you have to promise to not tell anyone" Mischa said, just staring at his food.

"What have you done this time?" His mother asked, laughing lightly, normally that sentence would be followed with Mischa talking about him and his friends doing something stupid, like going to an abandoned house, going through the woods, ripping up his clothes, accidentally almost killing someone. You know, regular child stuff.

"Nothing yet, but this if very serious, I'm not joking" Mischa said quietly, his mother realising the severity of the situation.

Mischa looked up, waiting for her to say something but she made a motion with her hands which insinuated for him to carry on.

He took a deep breath.

"I like boys, and girls too, but I like boys, I am bisexual. I thought you might needed to know" Mischa said, practically whispering, feeling the tears fall from his eyes.

His mother didn't say anything, so he looked up, relieved to see her smiling.

"Mischa, I'm very happy you told me. I did have my suspicions. Mother knows best"

Mischa looked at her confused, this boy in his class was the only boy he liked, right?

"Mischa, do you remember in elementary school, you must have been what, seven? You had this friend, he was called Malakai, do you remember? He left that school. Anyway, you truly did love him. I remember you coming home so excited one day because he held your hand and promised to marry you. You really loved him Mischa. You were in pieces when he moved away." Tamara said, smiling, looking back on the memory that was obviously very dear to her.

Then the memories came back to Mischa too. The boy he promised to marry, how could he forget? Maybe he was more into boys than he thought.

----

A now 18 year old Mischa sat on his bed crying. He misses that moment, he wished to stay in that moment forever. Something about the atmosphere was so comforting.

Then he cried more, his mother, his true comfort. And he sent him to Canada, he'll never see her again. She's dead. He'd accepted that. He wishes he hadn't. Some part of his mind wanted to believe she was here. She was alive, waiting for Mischa to return home. But that was a very small fragment of his mind.

He wiped his tears and immediately texted Noel to come over, he didn't care it was 9 pm and Noel might not want to. Mischa needs him.

Noel arrived soon after, sneaking into the basement and finding Mischa there, quietly crying to himself.

"Oh my god, are you ok Misch?" Noel asked, immediately wrapping his arms over his boyfriend, listening to Mischa ramble about the very moment, patiently waiting when he went into Ukrainian, then not interrupting his train of thought when Mischa kept talking and crying a bit more.

Mischa finished talking and just hugged Noel tight. He just needed that right now. He needs someone to love him. He was so thankful for Noel. He could never out it into words. He loves him so much it's insane.

They layed there together for a while, just basking in the silence.

"I love you" Mischa eventually whispered. His mother would be proud. He found himself a boyfriend who treats him right, he's out to a load of people and he uses his 'gangster persona' a lot less. He acts like who he really is. The person his Mother raised. The one she was proud of.

"I love you too. You're mother sounded like an incredible woman" Noel replied, with a nod coming from Mischa. He would do anything for Noel and his mother to meet. They would get on so well.

Neither of them remember falling asleep, but they did. They fell asleep in each other's arms. Mischa is happy he opened up to someone about his mother, he still misses her so much. He knows she sent him here because it's what is best for him, he knows that she was dying and didn't want him seeing her like that. He knew all of this, he just wishes it wasn't true. He'll wake up, he'll be 14 again, with his mother at his side, supporting him fully.

But Mischa is forever thankful for Noel. He's there for him when no one else is. He can't imagine being with anyone else because Noel is so god damn perfect. And he's all his, why would no one want to go out with him? Noel is the most perfect person in his eyes.

He only wishes his mother was here to see it.
