Chapter 8
She entered the kitchen again. Loki was just about to put away the plates.
"Show me your back." she demanded. "What-?" he asked in shock, tensing as a plate almost fell out of his hand. "You heard me. Dont toy with me." she already pulled her sword. Loki took a step back. "Show. Me. Your. Back." she repeated, anger flashing in her eyes. She treathened with her sword.
He swallowed hard and pulled his shirt off, then he turned around to expose his scared back to her.
She was a little shocked that Anthony actually did say the truth about him being treaten bad. "How did this happen?" she asked, her eyes softening a little bit. "A.. A whipping ..Miss.." he told her honest but not understanding why she was mad at him. "Why?" "I.. missbehaved.." "Put your shirt back on. What did you do?" she put her sword away and he dressed again. "I yelled at my father.. infront of the whole city.." "Just because of that? What did they do else?" "Miss.. why do you want me to tell you..?" he asked with all his respect. This woman frightened him. "Because I want to know. Now spill." "They starved me for discipline.. same reason.. and..-.. many things happened.." he changed his mind in giving more information. "What things?" "Things that shouldnt happen to children.." "I think I understand.. Go on with your work." She left him alone. Loki was confused.
What the hell was that? Wait- why did she know about his back? Hold up. Did that guy watch him, when he told him to turn around? This damned traitor!
When he finished his work, he looked out of the kitchen as if checking if someone was there to tell him what to do. He steped out, but no one paid attention to his presence.
He walked a few steps scaning the deck to find someone he knew, that wasnt Natasha, this blonde guy or the captain. After a minute he found Bruce and approached him insecure.
"Oh, hey. You good? Can I help you?" "I.. I actually dont know.. what to do.. I finished with the kitchen.." "Oh very good. Did you ask the Captain what to do?" "I dont intend to meet him for now.." "Why is that?" "Its .. complicated.." "That means you should better talk with him. He is a kind person." "I cant-" "What are you two talking about?" the captain interupted, standing behind Loki. "-wait to learn more." loki continued with a lie. Actually he was about to say, that he cant trust him. "To learn what?" Loki turned around to face him "How this all works." Bruce was confused but didnt say anything. "Very well. Are you accepting your fate now?" he smiled, but not in a cruel way, as Loki expected him to. "I-" loki glanced at Bruce for a breathe second and looked back at the Captain. "I.. I guess i have to.. dont I?" "Thats a good boy. Will you swear loyalty to me and this crew?" "I-.." Bruce intervened "Dont you think this is a little to early to ask him that, Captain?" "No, I dont think so. The earlier, the better. Especially with him being a good liar. I mean, after swearing loyalty, he cant lie to us anymore, thanks to our favourite little witch." He turned to Loki again. "So? How is it? If you swear, you can be trusted. If not.., well, its your Problem.I mean, if someone doesnt believes you, then.." he let out a long whistle. Loki swallowed down hard. He somehow knew what that meant. "I- I do.. I swear my loyalty " Loki stuttered, hoping this would get him out of any trouble he could bring himself into.
"Very good. Banner, assemble the crew." The captain comanded with a smile, while he grabed Lokis arm and draged him with him. Loki stumbled after him. His feet hurt from the cold and rough wood under his bare feet.
