Batfamily Reactions and Interactions
Dick and Stevie get to know each other during this time. They slowly build on their feelings and develop a friendship, as well as trust, respect, communication, etc. needed for a relationship. They begin to fall in love during this time. They also discover each other’s identities through a combination of following clues and letting each other know. They save the physical aspect of their relationship until later, after building more trust and working through Dick’s past trauma. By the time that the others get clued in to Stevie’s existence, Stevie and Dick are expecting their first child, and they’ll rearrange things so Nightwing can help with the Avengers, Captain America will have an advisory role for a while, and Damian will help out with Budhaven and the baby. Depending on the length of time, they will be either early or late in the pregnancy, or even having the baby already being a newborn. The names of the child and future children should be different from canon kids and not be named after their parents or other loved ones.
The Bats are shocked that Dick got married and will soon be a father/is a father. They find out at different times, most at the manor. Bruce, Alfred, and Duke find out first. Then Tim and Barbara find out, after being passive aggressive thinking that Stephanie Brown was the Stephanie that Dick was dating. Cassandra finds out next, either after coming in from out of the country or calling from overseas, and then coming over. Jason will be the last to know, and maybe Roy and Kori can find out at the same time as him because they’re with him. After being shocked and reacting, there are various levels of paranoia about Stevie and concern for Dick.
They initially see her as a housewife and homemaker because of her 1940’s values and sweet, shy, trusting, and supportive nature, as well as the way she dresses, which is vintage, forties style, but also comfortable. Stevie also wears a scarf over her hair like Rosie the Riveter. Stevie also has skills that include cooking, cleaning, and sewing, not knowing that these are some of several life skills that she learned growing up in poverty, the Great Depression, and World War 2. Later they find out that she is also able to do plumbing, mechanics, and other important life skills. As time goes on, they realize that she’s actually a feminist, open minded, adaptable, and an equal to Dick. They like her more over time and connect with her, but don’t trust her for a while.
They also wonder if she’s a spy because they can't find anything about her online through research.
I can see Barbara being somewhat jealous and slow to warm up to this new change.
With the Avengers, she’s an occasional assistant to Coulson and part-time consultant to their knowledge because her identity is top secret. She speaks with a slight accent and dialogue normally and without the accent as Captain America.
The Bat family can get some insights into their dynamic as a couple, like with Dick being on comms in the cave for a mission (probably on standby) and Stevie calling and talking to Dick.
There’s also a running joke where Stevie teases them by talking about how sorry Gotham is because it’s in New Jersey. (Bludhaven can be in New York, but close to Gotham). One of these interactions can be with Jason when it starts.
Stevie gradually builds relationships with the others, like reading a novel with Bruce while he reads a newspaper.
Bonus: Along with the rest of his help, Damian can create a detailed presentation for moving in with Dick and Stevie full time to help raise the baby while working in Bludhaven. Tim panics with the idea of Damian raising a child and makes a dissertation for them to stay at the manor instead. They’ll be some kind of compromise. I can also see a scene where Bruce goes to talk to them, and they’re expecting a proposal of some kind based on Damian and Tim.
