Chapter 24: Fashion Emergency
Loki was in their bedroom. Humming along to a tune that was playing on the blue tooth speaker in the bedroom as he got together a much smaller bag that would be coming with him for his trip this weekend. He wasn't going to bring a suitcase this time. Just a smaller bag for his toiletries, a couple changes of clothes, his nightlight and one of his books. He was more so hung up on what clothes he wanted to bring. More importantly what robe he wanted to bring to.
He was in the process of deciding between a black one that had some green embroidery and a light green one that was decorated with black polkadots when his phone rang. He flitted out of the closet and over to the bed where it sat and smiled as he saw it was a video call from Sean. "Sean!" He said with a smile as he answered. "How are you today?"
"I'm fine Lyle, but this has to be kind of short. Peter and I are going on a double date, but could you please show Peter and I how to tie a tie? Can I bring him onto the call please? I tried to show him, but I'm having a hard time remembering how and ugh!"
Loki covered his mouth as he laughed a little before he gave a nod. "Of course Sean. Bring him onto the call. I'll go get one of my ties." He said as he set his phone down for a moment and went to his side of the closet. He looked over his ties before he pulled out one of his simple black ones and took a minute to put in place a temporary glamour that matched the one he had in New York.
He came back out and seated himself at his Vanity with his phone and when he looked to the screen he smiled as he saw half the screen was now taken up by a new comer. "Hello, you must be Peter."
Peter gave a nervous smile. "Yeah sorry this is kind of weird way to meet, but I don't really have someone to teach me this stuff and I want to impress MJ and Sean said-"
"Peter."
Peter's rambling immediately stopped. "Yes Mr. Lyle Sir?"
Loki offered a softer and more sympathetic smile. "First of all breathe. Secondly no need to be so formal. My husband is Dad to my boys and I don't care for Father so I just let the boys call me Lyle. You can to. Thirdly I don't mind. This is no trouble at all and it's a pleasure to meet you. In any way. It pleases me to know that Sean would want to introduce his friends to me."
At that Peter finally seemed to settle down and relax a little. His own smile lost it's nervous edge and he did take a breath as Loki had instructed him to.
"Better?"
Peter nodded. "Thanks Lyle. This means a lot to me."
"Alright. Now as many questions as I want to ask Sean and you Peter, I was informed we don't have much time. So let me show how to do this. I'll show you the same one that I showed you last time Sean. Peter this is a good beginner one for you to. It's just the basic Windsor knot."
They both adjusted their ties the way Loki showed them to and he started to walk them through the steps of how to tie a tie. Sean got it on his second tie and even managed to get it to come out straight, but poor Peter was having a little more trouble.
The third time he messed up he started to get flustered and apologetic all over again, but Loki just reminded him to breathe. That it was fine and finally on the fifth try he got it. He technically had it on the fourth, but it was crooked.
"There we go." Loki said as he untied his own and smoothed it out so he could put it back in his drawer.
Both boys were already chatting excitedly and he quickly called their attention back to him. "Both of you be safe tonight. Remember your manners and be kind to the young persons. Sean I'll see you on Friday, Peter hopefully while we're there visiting we might get to meet in person as well. Maybe you and your Aunt could come over for dinner."
"Yeah maybe that would be really cool Mr. Lyle! Oh crap okay we gotta go! Sean I'll be at your place soon!" Peter said as he hung up.
Sean laughed before he gave a wave as well and ended the call.
Loki put his tie away and sighed as he made his way to the closet to resume trying to figure out which robe he wanted to bring.

That evening once Kevin had gone to bed Mobius had brought Loki out to the back yard and laid out a blanket. It was a clear summer night and the stars were bright and the moon was full. The fireflies were out in full force. Loki let out a content sigh as he got to lay with his head on Mobius's shoulder and watched. One of his hands tangled with Mobius's. "I love you." He murmured.
Mobius hummed as he lifted their twined hands to kiss at the back of his knuckles. "I love you as well."
Silence fell between them for a little while again. It was Mobius who spoke next. "You ready to go back so soon?"
Loki shrugged a little. "Not really. I'll never be ready to go back, but I am excited to see Sean." He chuckled. "I got to meet his friend today."
Mobius raised a brow. "Really? How?"
"While I was packing a couple things for our flight Thursday evening Sean called me over video. I guess they were going to go on a double date, but he was having a little trouble showing Peter how to a tie so they consulted the expert. I used an illusion to use the disguise I did in New York though. Just so that it wouldn't confuse him as to why I have two different appearances."
"Hold on a date? I didn't hear anything about a person." Mobius said as his brow raised a little higher.
Loki shrugged. "I know I haven't either. I didn't have a whole lot of time to ask any questions because they were in a bit of a rush. I told him to call me after, but he's been busy lately so he was probably tired. We'll have plenty of time to interrogate him when we visit."
Mobius laughed. "That there will be yes."
Silence fell between them again, but it was content silence. They didn't always need to talk to one another. A lot of the time just being able to lay with Mobius and be near him. Feel his warmth and the beat of his heart. Hear his breath. To just know that he was right there was enough.

Thursday evening was hectic getting out the door despite being down one person to worry about, but they still managed to make it to the airport in time. Once they were on their way Loki slipped on his silver bracelets that both suppressed his Seidr and glamoured him. He watched his raven locks turn light brown with black highlights once more. His eyes a light blue green. "Kevin remember you can only call me Loki at the apartment if it's just us three. In public or if anyone else is around it's Lyle. You haven't slipped in a long time, but it's really important that you don't slip here okay?"
Kevin gave a serious nod from the back seat. "Don't worry Lyle. I've got this." He said with a charming little wink.
Loki smiled, but it did nothing to help his nerves.
They got to the airport just in time for baggage check and they tried to argue against Loki's bag being kept on him despite it being able to fit in the carry on no problem, but he won in the end and he made a show of shrugging the strap of the bag onto his shoulder as he walked past the gate people when they called first class boarding.
He was a little nervous because there was a supposed to be a Thunderstorm in full swing by the time they landed in New York (so okay maybe more than a little nervous). He had really wanted to tell both of them they could leave early Friday morning, but one look at how excited Kevin had been all day Thursday he decided to swallow his fears and just get it over with.
He was tense the whole flight though. He found it impossible to relax like the flight previous. Clutching to one of Mobius's hands from the aisle seat. He had no interest to be by the window this time. He had seen enough of his brothers storms to easily be okay with never seeing thunder again. Natural or not. Nor could he quite help remembering the first time on the jet.
If Thor came tearing into the side of the plane to get to him Mobius and Kevin and most of the other passengers would not survive. He knew he was being over dramatic, but he just couldn't help it.
As they drew closer to landing and he heard the first crashes of thunder he felt his heart quicken involuntarily. He felt Mobius buckle the belt in his seat which he was grateful for because he wasn't sure he could do it. He closed his eyes all through landing and he had thought once they were off the plane he thought the worst of it would pass, but it didn't. He found himself glued to Mobius's side. Hugging his arm tightly unless he absolutely had to let go.
Every time thunder crashed outside and lightning flashed he flinched and by the time they made it through customs and he had to stop and sit down on a bench. "Mobi...I...I can't..." One of his hands was clutched to Mobius's arm still, but his other balled the material of his shirt over his chest as he wheezed for air.
Mobius sat down next to him and wrapped his arms around him. "Don't worry Kev. He's alright. You know thunder storms just scare him a little." He said in a calm voice.
Kevin gave him an uncertain look. "He's never been this scared before."
Mobius shrugged a little as he rubbed Loki's back. "It's never been this loud before. And he's already on edge because of the city." He said before he looked down to Loki. "Hey, sweetheart come on. It's alright. I know the thunders kind of scary, but all we have to do is get in a cab and take a forty minute drive to Sean's apartment. And then we'll be inside."
Loki nodded along as Mobius started to prattle on about everything and nothing all at once and even though he still flinched every time thunder crashed, he was getting his breath back little by little. "Okay...I think I can survive a cab ride." He said with all the confidence he could muster.
