It was a statement, a fact, the reality.
Logan pov
Logan was just standing there right in front of the door for 10 minutes straight, just waiting, tense, with a brain overlooking a thousand scenarios.
What would he do when he saw Wade? What would he say? What was the right thing to say?
Logan could hear Wade before he saw him, that voice that brought so much feeling, so much emotion, it was unbearable.
He was burning, on fire after being frozen for 3 months straight. After being away from Wade for so long, Logan knew
Logan knew how much Wade mattered to him and how he would do anything for him to save the world again if that’s what it took.
Logan knew now for certain
He was done second-guessing fucking around, pulling himself away; it was time to be selfish, to take what he wanted.
Wade
A life to cherish with someone
And then the scent and Logan personally knew the saying that smell held memories, but it was ever so true now, taking him back to the beginning.
The bar, the process of escaping the void eating nasty ham and downing isopropyl alcohol, the fight they had in the Honda Odyssey that lasted the whole night
Gathering people and fighting and escaping the void, Logan tried not to think too much about how weirdly connected he felt to that girl Wade described to him as X-23 or Laura.
How Wade locked him out, going to sacrifice himself even when Logan was going to do it because at the time he didn’t have anything to live for.
He needed Wade now.
If he didn’t see him right now, he felt like he was going to explode.
Strength that he didn’t know he fully recovered yet was forced to the front as he shot his claws out through the door, breaking it.
Wade in all his beautiful glory, in a full Deadpool suit, standing right there frozen mid-walk.
The world stopped spinning.
Logan couldn’t get his body to move fast enough; nothing would be fast enough for him, practically leaping forward.
Smashing Wade into the ground, arms tight around him, nose deep in his neck, huffing his scent like it would get him high
Which it kind of was.
Warm Wade was so warm, and real Wade was real. He was real and here.
3 months fuck 3 months that reality was suddenly so real as well
Logan could hear the small sniffles from Wade: “Missed you too, peanut.”
Logan was never so happy to hear that stupid nickname in his life before.
“Do you still want me to play nice? They took all my weapons, but I still have the ring... and baby knife up my ass."
It was so Wade, and Logan loved it, giving in and huffing a small laugh. “You’re fuckin crazy.” Logan said in almost a whisper,
“That’s why you like me so much,” Logan grumbled in response, but he wouldn’t have it any other way.
“Didn’t expect you to break the door down." Wade said and Logan wasn’t expecting to do that either; it just kinda happened.
Logan flexed his hands and arms to feel Wade underneath him, pretty content to stay like this until a fuckface doctor spoke up.
“Let’s move this to the room…?” Logan did feel bad for almost stabbing the guy on accident while destroying the door.
He started to click his necklace for backup or assistance, but Wade spoke up, “Okay, okay, into the room we go, even though you can clearly tell we're having a moment.”
Logan was not happy as he was forced to get up, but walking to the couch the guy wanted, he stuck close.
Logan was studying the way the bottom of Wade’s face looked, his lips, his nose, wishing the whole mask was off.
Logan never did get to confess, did he? Wade knew he had feelings for him, but he never said it.
Logan wished he confessed right back before he was taken away
Fuck- no Logan wished he had said something so long ago; he wished he could go back in time and tell himself to stop being an idiot.
“I’m sorry for taking so long, Peanut.” Wade's words came out of nowhere.
Sure, Logan would have liked to see Wade sooner, but life didn’t work like that, and by how Wade’s bottom lip trembled, he was apologizing for more than he was leading on.
“You're here now.” Logan said simply, still looking over Wade’s exposed face.
“Wish I came quicker.” Wade said it like it was a dark secret, like something that you shouldn’t say out loud.
There were so many things Logan could have done so many different things. so many things that could have worked
Logan didn’t need Wade to beat himself up over when he has done so much.
"That's what she said." Logan wasn’t sure if he regretted the words, but when Wade smiled, he didn’t
A Wade smile that Logan missed so much, a smile that gave the worst Wolverine a reason to keep trying
Fuck the dude in the room, fuck the X-Men, fuck everyone.
Now was so important to give a shit about others who didn’t matter.
Kissing each other fast and hard, hungry for the love of the other, disgustingly desperate with hope.
Holding each other close by the arms and shoulder, basically anything you can grab onto
It was time to live to set the past as free as Logan could to try
To try
Logan never thought he would ever want to, but here Wade was with his sweet lips.
Sweet lips that made jokes to hide the depth of his character
Logan broke off the kiss slowly pulling back, not because he gave a shit about the doctor.
But for a much more important reason, for a moment Logan was frozen, just looking at Wade closing his eyes for a flicker before taking a deep breath.
“I love you, Wade.” It wasn’t a whisper that Logan thought it would be when he first said it, or originally for the first and last time.
It was a statement, a fact, the reality.
