Wade POV
“I love you, Wade.”
It was like the first time Wade got a breath of air after destroying the machine that had gotten him to mutate.
Just that small little gasp of real air was so pure, even mixed with the smoke and blood.
Wade wasn’t this funny guy. I mean, yes, he was funny, but there was more to him, or at least he hoped.
Maybe over the years of being Deadpool, he was lost behind the mask of jokes even when he tried to quit the suit for real.
It was just so easy to push off vulnerability by making everything one big joke.
How Vanessa didn’t love him anymore, working at a job he couldn’t fit in—fuck, he didn’t really fit much anywhere.
Even at the surprise birthday party his friends threw together, it was great, really, but he was still so lonely because nobody understood how you became when the danger, the fear of dying, was gone.
But it was fine. Wade could deal with that small part of himself because the rest of himself was happy with them.
But when the TVA came and he met Wolverine for himself.
Yes, Wade heard the stories of Wolverine's greatness. Who hadn’t? He was selfless, courageous, a hero.
When wade tried to become an Avenger, Wolverine was actually one of the reasons he tried, well, also because of Vanessa, but still.
He looked up to his universe's Wolverine without ever meeting him in person. When he heard he died, he wasn’t sad.
More like acceptance, a pinging feeling right in his core the part of himself clinging to the hope of being a hero finally dying out.
“It’s always been you, Logan.” Wade couldn’t stop smiling, and maybe he started crying again,he didn't care anymore
“There’s no way to describe how much I love you, Logan. No matter how I try… just… fuck—um, what I’m trying to say, which you already know, is that I love you too.”
Turns out the doctor guy finally realized he wasn’t getting shit done until they had their perfect reunion, so he left.
He met so many wolverines while looking for the right one to replace his universes, and while doing so, he learned that
All of the wolverines were completely different and completely the same. Weird to say, but it was true.
But this Logan, his Logan, was perfect for him, the best Wolverine of all, and Wade wasn't just saying that to bounce on it or anything.
Because his Logan understood, and Wade realized that as soon as he saw him at the bar acting just as pathetic as himself,
They both had given up, not on trying to fix their mistakes, but themselves.
Not only that, he too treated life without the fear of dying- Well, I’m sure most wolverines had this trait, but still, his was…
Was like he had given up his humanity, treated himself like a machine, and God, Wade understood that.
Wade had his fair share of losing his humanity, forgetting to eat or shower because it didn’t matter. Sure, he could still feel the hunger pains.
But it didn’t matter, but when it got that bad, he had his friends to set him back straight for a while.
But when he met Logan, it weirdly made him want to try for the both of them, to treat himself like a human so Logan could too.
Logan was just looking at him now, still with shock or some emotion, so Wade felt the need to ramble on with the adrenaline from Logan confessing back.
“Your perfect in every way, the best wolverine I wouldn’t choose anyone else—God, I just—I never understood someone so much and had someone understand me so much—nobody before could; they didn’t understand what it was like to throw life and death around like it was just any Monday afternoon-"
Logan had Wade’s face in his hands now, pecking him with a small kiss to shut him up. “Wade.”
Wade loved how casually Logan just kissed him like it was a normal everyday kiss from a lover. Ugh—oops, there’s a tent in my pants now.
Wade’s face was smooshed, so he couldn’t coherently respond, “hm-f?”
Logan turned his own face to the side, trying to hide his embarrassment from Wade’s overly loving words. “Chill it out for a moment. I know you're happy rambling, but—“ a twitch of Logan's nose and Wade knew he was cooked.
“Wade…” Logan started off low.
“Mm—srry bu yu kied mh" Wade tried to explain as to why, but it was still hard to deal with speaking while Logan was squishing his face.
Logan then pulled Wade closer into a weird hug with Wade's head to his chest, making Wade fall over a bit on the couch. “You’re perfect in every way too, you know…”
And after that Wade continued to visit Logan every day, bringing him gifts, talking, and making out as much as they could without getting interrupted.
And although Logan was forced to take therapy, Wade could tell that it was helping.
It’s been 2 weeks since then, and half a month is done until Logan would be able to leave the recovery place.
And Wade was pregnant. I mean—and Wade was prepared (prepared autocorrect to pregnant, and it was too funny to not leave it in).
With so many date ideas and plans, it would make your head fall off, but the number one idea was ice skating. Wade had it booked and scheduled for the day after Logan’s release.
And Wade filled Logan in on everything that’s happened during the process of building the army and the dog-stealing cunt incident.
And Logan tried his best to fill Wade in on what happened during his stay at the X-Men mansion, and by the look on his face, Wade could tell how painful it was.
But he was grateful, so grateful that Logan felt safe and comfortable enough to tell him and even going as far as to somewhat tell him in more detail how his X-Men friends died and stories.
“Scott was always up my ass. Logan this, Logan that, but… I knew it was just because he cared"
Wade was sitting on the couch in Logan’s room, playing with Logan's hair while he lay with his head in Wade’s lap.
visiting hours were almost over, and he knew they already let him stay extra yesterday, so they wouldn’t let him again.
Like damn, I saved the world, and you traumatized my boyfriend even more. It was the least you could do.
Well, maybe not… boyfriend yet, and yes, they both loved each other, but that didn’t equal dating.
And Wade had tried to bring it up nonchalantly a few times, but it flew over Logan’s head. After that, Wade decided he would ask him during the ice skating date; it would be more romantic anyway.
“Begging me to wear that damn suit…” Logan grumbled like it was bothersome to think about, but Wade could tell it was a good memory from how his facial expression was soft.
“Well, you did, didn’t you?” Wade teased, leaning down to kiss Logan on his forehead.
“I—I did… I wished he could have been there to see it" Logan was falling back into depression mode.
And that was fine because you had to experience sorrow to process things, and no, Wade didn’t figure that on his own.
He too had started to take therapy about 4 days after Logan started his sessions because he wanted to understand Logan better when he complained about therapy sometimes.
and to better himself.
Wade kissed Logan’s forehead again. “it’s going to be okay, peanut.”
