There are a handful of things you never thought you'd do. One of those thing was fighting these monstrous things to protect the world from aliens.
But here you were.
Pietro fought with you if he wasn't zooming around the battlefield helping the others. Sometimes it seemed like fire powers weren't enough, this was one of those times.
While fire did come in handy, it only slowed most of the creatures down if they were fireballs and explosions. Explosions took a lot of energy...
You feared for, not only your life, but the lives of your soulmate, family, and friends. You were so scared to lose any of them. What comforted you was that Wanda was not in the battle, but that also meant she wasn't in your line of sight. So you still feared.
You were hovering above the field, looking around anxiously. There were so many dead warriors around you. One of the passengers jumped up toward you, it's mouth open to swallow you whole. You threw a fire ball at into its mouth and it fell back, screeching painfully before dying.
"There's too many of them!" Bruce yelled, being trampled by loads of the aliens.
"Y/N!" Pietro called. You turned to see him, one of the passengers grabbing a hold of his leg while others run towards him. It's grip was strong and Pietro struggled against it.
You flew over in an instant, concentrating your power. You landed in front of him, picking up a Wakandan shield for him to use as you leg go of the tight ball of energy you'd formed in a large explosions. The passengers were blasted back, Pietro only fell on his ass.
You helped him up, "Are you okay?"
"Yes, I'm alright," he responded, kissing your cheek quickly to reassure you. You looked around you as more of the passengers started coming your way. There were so many of them and you needed to save your magic.
All of a sudden, a large beam of rainbow-hued light landed in the middle of the action. An ax flew out of it, wreathed with lightning and tearing through the passengers, freeing you all. It flew back to the light and into its master's hand just as the beam cut out, revealing Thor and two companions, one of which was a raccoon who chambered a round in his large gun.
"Just what we needed," you commented, turning to Pietro, "A god."
He shrugged, "It's helpful."
Thor bellowed in his loud voice as he entered the fight, "Bring me Thanos!"
He charged toward the hordes of passengers, followed by his friends, lightning gathering around him until he finally launchesd himself into the air. He landed in the densest concentration of monsters, making a crater where they had stood.
You shrugged, "Looks like we have a chance, after all." You took a moment to think before coming back to reality, "Alright, they need us."
He held his hand out and you took it, each grasping each other's wrists. "Stay safe," he told you.
"I will. I made a promise," you told him. He smiled and turned back to the battle.

You turned when you heard the sound of a deep rumbling coming from the forest. You looked off in the general direction as it got closer. When the disturbance reached the edge of the trees, it turned into vast moving mounds of earth that easily bypassed the force field and emerged. Giant sets of massive, motorized spiked wheels rolled your way, intended for nothing more than shredding everything in their paths.
You eyes widened and your mouth fell. You turned to run, moving as quick as you could as you heard T'Challa yelling in the commis, "Fall back! Fall back now!"
You used your powers to get you off the ground, but you still hadn't fully recovered from the explosion. You needed more fire.
Pietro, your hero at this point, came to the rescue and scooped you up in his arms, carrying you away from the spikes, which had just seperated into individual wheels.
"Holy shit!" you exclaimed.
Pietro set you on your feet and you thanked him as you watched everything. You saw a wheel began rolling toward Natasha and Okoye in giant masses. You panicked, flying to get voer there as quick as possible.
Both women cringed at their seemingly inevitable shredding when the Wanda landed in front of both of them, eyes glowing red as she lifted the whole wheel well clear of the ground. You smiled at her as she used her magic.
Looking behind her, Natasha and Okoye had scattered and were replaced by a charging mob of passengers -- the perfect place to throw the wheel. Natasha straightened with a pleased smile, Okoye with an amazed look.
Okoye spoke with an indignant tone, "Why as she up there all this time?"
You headed over to Wanda, landing in front of her as you gave her a hug. "Are you okay?" she asked.
You nodded. You were covered in sweat and blood -- only some of it was yours -- but you were fine. Just a little depleted.
"Guys, we got a Vision situation here," Sam spoke.
"Somebody get to Vision!" Steve ordered.
"I got him!" Bruce figured out the Hulkbuster's repulsor thrusters and made a beeline for the android.
Wanda nodded, "On my way." You followed after her when she's suddenly clobbered by Proxima Midnight's pommel. She rolled down into the large ditch from the giant wheel before she could move.
You growled angrily. People needed to remember not to mess with your soulmate.
Proxima jumped down next to the Wanda, "He'll die alone. As will you."
"She's not alone," Natasha's voice. Okoye silently brandished her spear on the other side of Proxima and nodded at Natasha, then to you as you suddenly dropped down in front of Wanda protectively. "And she never will be," you growled.
Proxima let out a battle cry, leaping for you. She went to strike you with her weapon and you blocked it with a particularly strong amount of fire. You focused your anger into it as you held her off. Natasha, who had joined her sticks into a full staff, kicked Proxima away.
She turned to Natasha, striking again with her weapon as she blocked with an electrical crackle. Okoye ran around the slope to also attack from the front.
You looked down at the fire in your hands only to realize that you'd concentrated it into a shield surrounded by flames. You smiled down at it triumphantly, picking up a discarded Wakandan spear. You let your powers run through the weapon before the spear end caught on fire.
"I can roll with this," you smiled at Wanda. She returned the smile, and you almost forgot that you were in the middle of a battle.
She turned to get back to the battle, and you stopped her, "Wanda."
"Yes?" she asked, turning back to you.
You took in a breath as you told her, "Marry me."
She stopped, now watching you with wide eyes. "What?"
"Marry me," you repeated. You dropped your weapons, walking over to her and grabbing her hands, "I don't know how long we have and with a battle like this, it may not be forever. But I want you to be with me forever if -- when this battle ends. I'm asking you to marry me."
She smiled slowly as she nodded, "Okay. I'll marry you. I love you."
You smiled at her, kissing her quickly but as meaningfully as you could manage. "I love you, too, Wanda... Let's get back there."
She nodded as you picked up your spear and shield. She smiled at you with tears in her eyes and you both returned to the battle.
Natasha, Okoye, and Promixa all ducked as a single wheel tore overhead, the ditch sparing them most of the danger from the wheel-blades. Proxima used the distraction to kick Natasha in the face, sending her to the ground. She then grabbed Okoye by the shoulder and weapon and threw her meters away.
You jumped in, blocking her attack with her shield and using it to hit her in the face. The blow hurt more since the shield was literally made of fire, so you congratulated yourself.
It gave Natasha and Okoye enough time to get back in as Promixa turned back to you three.
Natasha split her staff back into a pair of sticks to block Proxima's sword blows, and finally knocked it from her hand. The alien took to her bare fists instead, knocking down and pinning Natasha. Proxima triggered an arm-blade from her left-arm armor, and stabbed at Natasha, who barely managed to block the blade with her crossed sticks.
You charged over to help but were grabbed with red magic that quickly wrapped around your waist and moved you away. You began to protest but gave up because it was useless at that point.
As the edge started to dig into Natasha's neck anyway, scarlet energy grabbed the alien and tossed her into the air right into the path of another passing giant wheel. Dark blue blood spattered the women below. Wanda sat up, sighing with relief as her hands still shimmered.
Natasha panted lightly before admitting, "That was really gross."
You shrugged, "You do what you gotta do."
Wanda glanced at you, "You need to watch where you're going. You jumped right in front of that thing."
You held your hands in defense, "I know, I know. I'm sorry."
Wanda helped you to your feet as the two of you go to help the other. Pietro ran by, "Nice to see your helping, sister."
She yelled back at him, "Finally got off your ass, huh?"
She heard him chuckling and you both shared your own before returning to the fight with your new weapons. You found some fires scattered here and there that you were able to absorb energy from. You needed as much as you could get.
You went with Wanda to find Vision, somewhere around the field. When you found him, he was lying on the ground. Wanda knelt beside him, "Are you okay?"
Vision flinched in pain before he can answer. Wanda spoke anxiously, "What? What is it?"
A pain suddenly topped through your head and you doubled over and let out a strangled scream. "Y/N!" Wanda yelled, moving to you and grabbing your shoulder and hand. "What's wrong? What do you see?"
This time, there was no vision in your head. Nothing to foreshadow. You knew what was happening.
It was him. He was here.
Vision said that for you, "He's here." The wind picked up. It felt... strange. Eerie. You all looked to the sky.
Blue-black clouds rose for a moment before dissipating. Bruce's voice came on the comma, "Cap. That's him."
"Eyes up. Stay sharp," was Steve's reply.
Pietro rushed over to you to see if you and Wanda were alright. You all huddled around Vision to protect him. Thanos couldn't get the Stone.
You gripped your shield tight and your spear tighter. Pietro steeled himself and Wanda stayed close to Vision. She was the strongest of all of you. She needed to protect Vision.
Bruce reached Thanos first, lunging forward fist-first -- but Thanos used the Space Stone on him, rendering him immaterial until the Hulkbuster is half-buried in the stone of the cliff behind him, and froze Bruce in place. Steve was sent flying by purple energy before he even got to strike a single blow.
T'Challa, armor fully charged kinetically, leapt high and with claws extended, but waa easily grabbed by the throat and punched to the ground, his armor discharging violently. Falcon stooped, strafing with both Steyr pistols, but was felled when his wings became rubbery and unable to sustain flight.
You swallowed hard, turning to Pietro and Wanda with meaningful looks. You didn't need to say anything to know what they meant. 'Whatever happens, I love you.'
Vision started speaking to Wanda about the Stone. You were too focused on your friends trying to hold off Thanos to pay too much attention. She then began using her powers on the Mind Stone, tears filling her eyes as she did so.
Rhodey joined the fight, firing his guns at Thanos until he useed the gauntlet to crush his armor around him and toss him aside. Bucky ran in firing, and was punched away by the Power Stone.
Okoye activated the Vibranium-powered elements on her spear and flung it; the Power Stone stopped it inches from Thanos, and threw her and it aside while wrapping the Natasha in inescapable bands of earth.
Groot stabbed his hands into the ground to wrap Thanos in cables of roots, which he broke easily. Steve slid under one blow and came up swinging his deployed arm-shields, punching Thanos in the gut and chin. He grabbed the gauntlet, keeping Thanos' fingers un-clenched. Thanos looked very briefly impressed at Captain America's efforts as he screamed before slamming a fist into his head and rendering him insensible.
You were the last ones standing.
