Pietro moved first, against your shouts. As he got up close to Thanos, he was instantly stopped as his legs were rooted into the ground.
"Be careful, Wanda," you told her were tears. She shook her head, "No, don't."
You ignored her protests, charging at Thanos with your spear raised and your shield held in front of you as you used your powers to propel yourself in the air.
He clenched his fist, your spear flying out of your hands. He was unable to wish away your shield. It might have had something to do with coming from your magic.
When you got to him, you hit him hard with your shield. He grabbed you by the throat, lifting you in the air. You used your powers, letting fire crawl up his arm. But it didn't burn his skin -- if it did, it wasn't enough.
He looked at the flames and then to your face, "Lady Sun." Your eyes widened, how did he know your name?
"I'm disappointed. You should've been stronger than this," he told you with a frown.
You growled, "I don't give a shit what you think."
You gripped his hand, using your fire as much as possible as you concentrated more energy inside of you before letting it go, an explosion surrounding you and Thanos. That one seemed to affect him as he let you go and faltered.
Wanda watched all this over one shoulder, and turned back to Vision to add her left hand to her tearful effort.
You picked up your spear, gripping it in your hand and letting your fire consume the spear. You aimed the arrow at his hand with the gauntlet. With clenched teeth and a strong throw, you fire the spear at Thanos while he still tried to recover the close-contact explosion.
The spear pierced through his wrist arm and he yelled in pain, looking down at the spear that rooted itself in the ground. You stood your ground standing between him and Wanda with your fists ignited.
The air seemed a little hotter and heavier as the sun looked as though it was getting brighter than the already bright day it was. Thanos looked up into the sky, shielding his eyes from the blaring light as you clenched your fists tight.
"Stay away from my family," you growled as you stated him down.
Thanos turned back to you, "I take it back. I am impressed."
You gritted your teeth. He gripped the spear, breaking it off and pulling his arm off with a grunt as he tossed it to the side. There was now a hole in his arm where the spear had pierced him. "But not enough."
With great pain, he clenched his hand tight and water seeped from the soil and soaked your feet, rising up your body and seeping into your skin. You clenched your teeth together to keep a scream from coming from you as you felt your magic begin to slowly and painfully fizzle out and temporarily render you helpless. You fell to the ground.
Wanda turned around when she heard the thud and screamed your name. You looked up at her, weakened as you tried to reach a hand out. She was fully crying now.
Wanda looked up and saw Thanos approaching unopposed. She swung her left hand around to fend him off with a stream of scarlet energy and pushed him back, despite his blue-purple energy shield, but then he started to make slow headway.
You tried to use your powers, but you were burnt out. You needed to regain your strength before you could use them again. Damn water was a weakness...
As Wanda did her damnest to concentrate on the Stone, Vision whispered to her, "It's alright, it's alright. Thank you." At those words, the yellow Mind Stone finally started to crack. Vision's face was overcome by an expression of joyful peace. As the crystal fragmented completely, a pulse of pure yellow energy exploded from him, shuddering the trees for many meters around his epicenter. Wanda's and Thanos' energy subsided.
The blast was able to give you a little extra strength, it did come from pure energy after all, the same energy that gave you your powers in the first place. You gathered enough energy to sit up from the dirt, propped up as you looked at Wanda sadly. She just killed her friend. Whether you liked him or not, he was still her friend and you would not wish that on her.
When Thanos walked over to Wanda, you snarled, "Get away from her."
He ignored you. Pietro spoke from his place rooted in the ground. The only thing you could see was his face as you looked at him. "What's going to happen?" he asked you quietly.
You sighed and shook your head. You didn't know.
Thanos reached down to presume to stroke her hair, as if in comfort. You growled, "Don't touch her."
Again, he ignored you as he spoke to Wanda. "I understand, my child. Better than anyone."
You brought yourself to your feet with great difficulty. Wanda snarled at him, "You could never." She looked at you, even more tears falling as she saw your legs give out under you as you fell to the ground. You were too burnt out, you needed fire. Even a little more ehat would do...
"Today, I lost more than you can know. But now is no time to mourn. Now... is no time at all." He reached forward and clenched the gauntlet with clenched teeth, emerald filigree surrounding his wrist, making a gesture very similar to that Doctor Strange made when activating the Eye of Agamotto. In response, a bead of yellow light started gathering in on itself as time is reversed and growing in size, solidifying into an intact and conscious Vision.
Your eyes widened along with Wanda's as you watched. You brought yourself to get up again. "No!" Wanda screamed. She lunged for Vision but was swatted away by Thanos.
She flew back into you and you caught you from where you were sitting, looking her over to make sure she wasn't hurt. Your hands were set on her arms and one of her hands held your own arm. You both then turned right back to Thanos.
Thanos pickes up Vision by the throat, lifting him to eye-level, and dug the fingers of his right hand into Vision's forehead, digging out the Mind Stone. He pulled it loose, and Vision went limp and colorless; he tossed the lifeless android aside like trash.
Bringing his gauntleted hand up, he slowly moved the Mind Stone over the last empty setting, and dropped it in. The energy surge was so powerful -- his torso was wreathed with iridescent static and he bellowed from the sensations.
As Thanos studied the completed gauntlet, a massive bolt of lighting struck him, digging him into the ground and grinding him back for meters. Thor arrived, eyes glowing with power, stooping down from the sky like a bird of prey.
The god of thunder paused his attack, reversed his position, raised Stormbreaker above his head, and hurled it. Thanos fired the whole might of the gauntlet against it, but it only created a rainbow-like bow-shock, not slowing the ax as it slammed right into Thanos' chest.
Thor landed in front of Thanos, who was down on one knee. He spoke hatefully, "I told you. You'd die for that."
He took a hold of the back of Thanos' head and forced Stormbreaker deeper into his chest, staring angrily into his eyes while Thanos cried out in pain.
You glanced at your hand, focusing as much power as you had as you started to form a fire spear. It wouldn't be as long or big as the first one, but it would be enough.
Thanos struggled to speak to Thor as he said, "You should have... you..." You formed your spear, tightening your grip around it as you stared daggers at Thanos. You reared your hand back to throw it. Suddenly, in a stronger voice, Thanos spoke, "You should have gone for the head."
He rose his gauntlet and snapped his fingers. Thor yelled, but it was too late.
You shielded your eyes as a bright, white light blinds you and makes the spear return to its fire state and sink back into you.
Thanks looked down to see the damaged gauntlet on his hand, the metal scorched and distorted from heat, the stones were no longer glowing.
"What'd you do?" Thor demanded. He then yelled, "What did you do!"
Thanos nearly seemed to not notice Thor before he used the Space Stone and teleported away, leaving Stormbreaker behind on Wakandan ground. You gripped Wanda tight in your arms before you both went to Pietro to get him out of the ground.
Your grabbed a hold of him as Wanda desperately dug him out of the ground. You managed to pull him up and out of the soil, but it took a lot.
You both pulled him into a hug, holding each other tight as you were glad you were still alive. There was that, right?
Steve stumbled over holding his left side, "Where'd he go? Thor... where'd he go?"
"Steve?" Bucky's voice was heard. Steve looked over. Bucky suddenly stumbled over, dropped his gun, and collapsed into ashes, much to all of your shock. Steve walked over and touched the ground where Bucky's ashes evaporated disbelievingly.
"Pietro, Wanda, what just happened?" you asked them. They shrugged as they looked around fearfully.
People all over began turning to ash, disintegrating mysteriously. You held on tight to Wanda and Pietro and they did to you and each other.
"Stay with me, guys," you told them anxiously, fighting off tears, "Please don't leave."
You all held on tight to each other, a tight group hug as you desperately clung to one another. "Don't leave me," you were telling each other.
Your grip on Wanda loosened as you turned to her, your eyes wide with disbelief. "Wanda? Wanda, no, no, no," you turned to her quickly. You tried to grasp her, to hold her to you, but she was fading in your hands.
"Wanda, no! I love you!" you exclaimed.
She had tears running down her face. The ashes traveled up her body as she whispered to the both of you, "I love..."
She couldn't finish her sentence.
She turned to ashes in your arms as you so desperately tried to hold her together. Your tears fell freely as you looked at the ashes on the ground. Sobbing, you buried your head in Pietro's chest as you held onto him tight.
A pain on your shoulder had you looking at your soulmark. Your mouth fell opened as you covered it, seeing your soulmate turn a dark grey that had your crying coming harder.
You gripped Pietro again. It was his turn to grip his shoulder as his own soulmark turned dark grey. He held you tight as he cried with you. You stared at your hands, waiting for them to turn to the same ash that swept Wanda away from you.
You sat and sobbed and waited. But when you stayed perfectly intact, that's when you fell completely apart.
"Don't leave me," you begged Pietro as you cried in his arms. He shook his head and held on tight. "I would never," he told you.
After a moment, it finally hit you.
Ethan.
You scrambled to your feet, Pietro steadying you. You spoke, "Ethan? Is he okay? Please tell me he's okay."
You put your hands on your head, trying to force a vision out of you to know if he was okay. "Come on, come on, come on," you eagerly said as you tapped your head. "Just do it," you choked out.
When your vision wouldn't show, you panicked. You needed to get to your son.
