Excited for... Letter?
“So Fred and George will be able to get us drinks for after the ball.” Ron said, pulling out a list from his bag.
“This is going to be great!” Harry said. “Quick question though; Are we doing a big group arrival or something?”
“Yes of course!” Draco said, “We’ve got to go together but like separately. Y’know what I mean.”
“I just can’t believe that it's tomorrow.” Neville said, looking detached from the conversation.
“You should ask her.” Ron said, noticing who his friend was looking at.
“Would she say yes?” Neville asked, playing with his hands.
“Yeah, mate.” Alex said. “She will. This is going to be so much fun! But me and ‘mione have muggle studies. So see you later?”
“Sure.” Ron said. “Still don’t get why you lot take the class.”
Hermione jokingly smacked him upside the head as she was getting up from the table, “Because I can Ronald! You can never be learning too much.”
Everyone left at the table collectively sighed and rolled their eyes as the two walked away.
At the head table Remus and Sirius sat off to the side mostly watching their son. They were silent during the entirety of lunch until they saw Alex get up and walk away.
“He looks happy.” Sirius commented.
Remus smiled, “He does. I think we’re going to be alright Siri.”
“Yeah, Remy” Sirius grabbed Remus’ hand from under the table, “We’re going to be alright.”
…
Before Remus left work for the day, he decided to take a walk around the castle to clear his mind before having to chaperone the Yule Ball the next evening. He was just about to turn the corner when he heard two familiar voices talking. He was about to turn around and leave before Hermione saying, “Come on Alexander. What was that Howler about?” convinced him to stay. Especially because he didn’t know anything about Alex getting howlers.
“Hermione, it's nothing, just leave it.” Alex said.
“If its “nothing” then you should be able to tell me what those were about.” Hermione insisted.
“You are proper annoying, you know that.” Alex said, trying to deflect the conversation.
“No, I’m just observant.” Hermione replied, “So tell me about the letters.”
“Fine!” Alex groaned, “It’s about the thing.”
“Is she trying to apologise?” Hermione asked, her tone softening.
“Yeah,” Alex nodded, “She is.”
Remus was very confused. He didn’t have a clue what they were talking about. After pondering his thoughts for a moment he zoned back into the conversation.
“I want to forgive her. But I’m just so mad about it. She’s my blood, she’s supposed to be my defender.”
“So then hear her out!” Hermione said, sounding as if she had said that multiple times before.
“No.” Alex stated, “End of story. Come on, lets just go.”
Hermione sighed, “Fine.”
As soon as Remus was sure the coast was clear he sprinted up stairs to his quarters, he just had to tell Sirius about this.
…
Meanwhile Neville was in the green house, waiting for a certain person to join him.
He had been waiting for about ten inutes before he was about to leave when he heard someone behind him.
“Hi Neville,” Luna said.
“Hi.” Neville replied looking down at his shoe, “So I was sorta wondering if you, and if I and if um. WOULD YOU LIKE TO GO TO THE YULE BALL WITH ME?”
Luna looked unfazed and turned to a plant and stroked its leaves, “Poor little guy, he’s got Knackspurts all over him.”
Neville looked confused, “Wait, what?”
“Knackspurts.” Luna stated, “Poor plant is being swarmed by them.”
“Luna, did you here what I asked?” Neville asked, wondering if she truly didn’t hear him.
“Oh yes,” Luna turned back to Neville. “I’ll go with you.”
“You will?” Nevilles eyes widened.
“Yeah, it will be fun!” Luna smiled, “The ball is tomorrow night right?”
“Yeah.” Nevile grinned, “I’ll meet you at gryffindor tower at 6. All of our friends want to do a big entrance.”
“Alright. I’m off to feed the thestrals.” Luna skipped away.
Neville smiled and shook his head before walking off too. He was very excited for that night to come.
That night, students at Hogwarts went back to their dorms, falling asleep excited for the next night. That night would be one to remember
