Chapter 1
A tiny mouse scuttered through a well furnished cave. A hand with long bright green nails grabbed it by the tail and held it up. A woman with green eyes and messy black hair smiled at the mouse.
"Life's not fair, is it? I, well, I will never be queen. And you shall never see the light of another day. Aww. boo hoo." She smiled and brought the mouse to her lips.
"Didn't your mother ever tell you not to play with your food?" A deep voice said. The woman stopped and looked over. A dark skinned man in armor and bright yellow eyes was watching her.
The woman rolled her eyes. "What do you want?" She asked.
"I am here to announce that King Odin is on his way. So you better have a good excuse for missing the ceremony." The male said with a slight smug smirk. Hela looked down sadly when she saw the mouse got away. "Aww. Look what you've done. Heimdal. You made me lose my lunch."
The man, Heimdall, smirked. "You'll lose more than that when the king gets through with you. He is very angry."
The woman smiled sadistically. "Oh, I quiver with fear." She summoned a sword and held it up to Heimdall's throat.
"Hela!" A powerful voice boomed. The woman, Hela, looked up to see Odin in all his glory standing in the cave entrance.
Hela smiled. "Why, if it isnt my big brother. Descending from up high to mingle with the commoners." she smirked at him.
"Freya and I didn't see you at the presentation of Thor." Odin said. Hela examined her nails. "That was today? Oh, how awful. It must have... sliped my mind."
Heimdall scoffed. "Yes, well, as slippery as your mind is, as the King's sister, you should have been the first in line."
Hella wiped around, pointing her dagger at Heimdall. "I was the first in line! Until that retched... Creature was born."
"That creature is my son. And your future king." Odin said patiently. "Oh, I should practice my curtsy." Hela said, turning around, flipping her hair over her shoulder as she walked out.
"Don't turn your back on me, sister!" Odin called to her. "Oh no, brother. Perhaps you shouldnt turn your back on me." She smiled. Angerly, Odin moved to stand in front of her. "Is that a challenge?!" He roared.
"Temper, temper. I wouldn't dream of challenging you." Hela sneered. "Pity. Why not?" Heimdall asked. Hela glared at him. "Well, as far as brains go, I have the advantage. But when it comes to brute strength, I'm afraid I'm on the shallow end of the dream pool." With that, she walked away.
Odin sighed as he watched her leave. "What am I going to do with her?" He asked.
"She'd make a very pretty statue." Heimdall said. "Odin laughed. "What? I'm just saying! And whenever she gets dirty, you can take her out and spray her with water."
The two walked back to the palace, laughing.
