The new teacher
Early Monday morning. It was still quite quiet around the school building.
The 40-year-old man Tony Stark was sitting in the car in the parking lot. Only a couple of other cars had arrived. It was the first day of school after the summer holidays, and in a couple of hours the whole place would be full of people. Tony enjoyed sitting like that for a few minutes before going in and starting his work. For four years he had been principal at the school.
A nice job, he thought. There were a couple of colleagues he could have done without, but that was probably the case with most jobs. All in all, he enjoyed himself very much. He looked at the clock. Half past seven in the morning. Time to enter now. He had to prepare for the first day of the school year as usual, and besides, he had to meet the newly hired teacher. Coincidence had meant that he had not yet met the man, only read about him and written a few emails back and forth.
Tony got out of the car and straightened his clothes. Black suit jacket, light blue shirt with red tie and dark blue jeans. He locked the car and walked across the parking lot. He noticed a car he hadn't seen before. A blue, not quite new passenger car. Much like the ones he used to repair and arrange for friends.
He opened the main door of the school building and entered. Just inside was the counter where you could turn if you had any questions. Or if you just wanted to talk about almost anything, even if it actually had to be related to school. The young lady sitting there waved and smiled at Tony and he went over and greeted her. Young Wanda Maximoff. She barely looked like she'd finished school herself. Despite that, she constantly amazed Tony with all her knowledge. And despite the age difference of 18 years, the two had become good friends, and now she was probably the employee who was closest to him.
"Good morning, boss", he said jokingly, winking at her in a friendly way. "Well well Tony, you know you need me" ,Wanda laughed.
"Yeah, I can't deny that", Tony replied and gave her a hug. "It's good to see you. I hope your holiday was nice". "Absolutely, it was great! Yours too, I hope. But, it's good to be here again", she replied. "Speaking of which, we have a new colleague this year. He has just arrived and is waiting in your office". Exactly! What would he have done without his assistant? "Thank you, my dear Wanda! Let's talk more holiday later, shall we?".
Tony walked over to the door to his own office and opened it.
He didn't really know what he had expected. Well, actually nothing special. The thought hadn't even crossed his mind. A new colleague, nothing else.
But the man waiting for him inside his own office made his heart skip a beat. At least it felt that way. He just hoped the other hadn't noticed anything.
If he had, he was hardly unfamiliar with that reaction, Tony thought. He shook hands with the newly hired teacher and sat down in the chair on the other side of the desk.
He tried to speak effortlessly while feeling like an idiot. It was just that…the 15 years younger man who sat in front of him was the most beautiful person Tony had ever seen.
The 25-year-old Steve Rogers. With thick, blond hair, bright blue eyes and a warm smile. Damn it! Tony swallowed and concentrated on the conversation. A completely normal conversation between a teacher and a principal. Fortunately, and to Tony's great relief, Mr. Rogers (call me Steve, please! Yes, exactly...) was easy to talk to and seemed like a committed and knowledgeable teacher. Tony had no doubt that the school had done the right thing in hiring this man. He would certainly do a good job and be liked by both students and other teachers. Then Tony himself had to live with the fact that he felt a childish, ridiculous near-infatuation for him.
When the meeting was over, they shook hands again. Both smiled and thanked them for the conversation. Then Steve left Tony's office. He closed the door behind him, and Tony was left alone in his office.
Fortunately, there was enough to do for him in there!
Besides, such a handsome man was probably not single. And of course he preferred girls his own age!
At least not grown men of Tony's age, carrying their angels and demons with them. "What the hell am I even thinking about!?", he asked himself angrily. "Enough of your nonsense now, Tony Stark", he muttered and got down to what he was actually hired to do.
Reasonable work.
